Analogues of $2(S)-5, 2^{l}, 5^{l}$-trihydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone, a naturally-occurring compound, which had been reported to have potent antitumor activity, were synthesized and examined for the cytotoxicity against three cancer cell lines. Among the intermediate chalcones and synthetic 5-hydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone analogues, $({\pm})2^{l}, 5^{l}-dibenzyloxy-5, 7, 8-trimethoxyflavanone$ exhibited about 2-8 times stronger activity than $2(S)-5, 2^{l}, 5^{l}$-trihydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone against L1210, K562 and A549 cancer cell lines. In the structure-activity relationship, it is suggested that among analogues of 5-hydroxy-7, 8-dimethoxyflavanone, the existence of two oxygenated groups of para-relation at $C-2^{I} and C-5^{I}$ positions on flavanone B-ring, may be necessary to exhibit effective cytotoxic activity.

In this study, we screened twenty four extracts of eight medicinal plants and three extracts of the commercial product for their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts were found active where as aqueous extracts were little or no active. Extracts of Sophora flavescens, Salvia miltlorrhiza and Glycyrrhiza uralensis showed strong activity againsttested organisms and could be the potential antimicrobial agent. The increase of antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of formulations might be due to synergic effect. The results also indicated that the activity of bamboo salt and herbal products can be enhanced by making appropriate formulations.

본 논문에서는 사물인터넷 제품들 중 환경센서를 이용한 서비스로, 사용자가 케어가 필요한 거동 불편자 및 인지능력 저하 노약자의 기저귀상태를 매번 체크하지 않아도 스마트폰 알림을 통해 용변 유무 상태를 확인 할 수 있는 서비스이다. 본 방법은 아두이노에 부착된 환경센서를 통해 기저귀의 습도, 온도 데이터를 실시간으로 서버에 받아온다. 서버에서는 이 값들을 알고리즘을 통해 일정한 범위를 두어 각각의 상태를 알 수 있도록 만든다. 이렇게 서버에서 가공된 값은 안드로이드로 전송해준다. 안드로이드에서는 가공된 값을 통해 상황별 이미지(activity)을 통해 보여준다. 또한 알림기능을 사용해 실시간 체크를 가능하게 하므로 써 사용자에게 편리한 서비스를 제공한다.

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze physical activity as measured by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and an actigraph in breast cancer survivors, as well as to identify their intention to participate in a physical activity program. Methods: Breast cancer patients who had been diagnosed for more than six months (N=135) at a university hospital participated from June 2012 to May 2013. Physical activity was measured using the Korean version of the IPAQ-Short Form and Actigraph GT3X plus an accelerator for seven consecutive days. Data analyses were conducted using the SPSS WIN 19.0 program. Results: Mean total physical activity was 2298.21 metabolic equivalent task (MET)-min/week as assessed by IPAQ and 150,140.57 counts/day as measured by an actigraph. There were statistically significant correlations between moderate physical activity from IPAQ and light intensity of physical activity from the actigraph (r=.735, p<.001), vigorous physical activity from IPAQ and vigorous intensity of physical activity from the actigraph (r=.871, p<.001), total physical activity from IPAQ and light intensity of physical activity from the actigraph (r=.825, p<.001), respectively. Most (80.7%) cancer survivors reported a positive attitude toward physical activity and 57.8% expressed a willingness to participate in a physical activity program. More than half (60%) of the subjects preferred walking, 80.6% preferred more than 30 minutes of exercise, and 57.1% wanted to engage in physical activity three times a week and preferred home-based activities. Perceived barriers included fatigue, lack of strength and pain. Conclusion: It is necessary to consider intensity, personal preferences, and patient-perceived barriers when developing physical activity programs for breast cancer survivors.

The antifungal activity of silver, copper, and titania nanoparticles against fungal spores was investigated. Cladosporium cladosporioides spores were aerosolized and sampled on a solid agar plate using an Anderson impactor. The solid agar plate contained different concentration of nanoparticles ranging from 0 to $500{\mu}g/mL$. Silver and copper nanoparticles were shown to be an effective antifungal agent, while titania nanoparticles were not. Antifungal activity of these effective nanoparticles appeared at $300{\mu}g/mL$ concentration.

This study is designed to investigate the effects of Saengmaegsan extract on cultured myocardial cell sheets affected by oxygen tension change. The results were as follows : 1. Saengmaegsan meaningfully restored the cellular activity decrease in the cultured myocardial cells affected by high oxygen tension. 2. Saengmaegsan meaningfully lessened the degree of total protein decrease in the myocardial cells caused by high oxygen tension. 3. Saengmaegsan meaningfulJy refrained from syntetic decrease of 4-hydroxyproline in both low oxygen tension group and high oxygen tension group.

Systematic fractionation of Angelica gigas roots led to the isolation of linear furano(pyrano)coumarins such as bergapten (1), decursinol angelate (2), decursin (3), nodakenetin (4) and nodakenin (5). The antibacterial activities of those compounds against pathogenic bacteria were investigated. Among the compounds tested, decursinol angelate (2) and decursin (3) exhibited significant antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis with the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 50 and $12.5{\;}{\mu}g/mL$, respectively.

In order to understand the mechanism of action of flavonoids on the drug metabolizing enzyme, cytochrome P450IA1, this study was undertaken to examine the effect of chrysin, morin, myricetin and aminopyrine on the activities of ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase and benzo(.alpha.) pyrene hydroxylase in the liver. In the isolated perfused rat liver that was pretreated with 3-methylcholanthrene (3MC), chrysin, morin, myricetin and aminopyrine inhibited the activity of ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase with concentration dependent manner. The isolated liver perfusion with chrysin, morin, myricetin and aminopyrine showed inhibition on the induction of ethoxyresorufin O- deethylase by 3MC. And also, in mouse liver hepa I cells, 3MC-stimulated the benzo(.alpha.)pyrene hydroxylase activity which was inhibited by chrysin, morin, myricetin and aminopyrine. These results strongly suggested that hydoxylated flavonoids interfered not only the induction of cytochrome P45OIA1 enzymes by 3MC but also the interaction of substrates and enzyme.

This research has a purpose to develop strategies for application and introduction of activitiy based costing for Korean hospitals. A 700 bed-sized general hospital in Taejon was chosen to conduct this study. The conventional costing and ABC methods were simultaneously applied to the Obstetrics & Gynecology department, using data surveyed from June 21 to 30, 1998. The difference of two costing methods' results were analyzed and ABC's superiority was recognized. It showed that the new ABC model was more rational, fair, and objective in allocating indirect costs. The strategies to introduce ABC model to hospitals were suggested as followings: 1)a committee to manage ABC should be organized; 2)education for the employees about costing and cost saving should be provided; 3)the computerized ABC program should be developed; and 4)more advanced and rigourous methods to identify activities and measure the resource consumption should be developed.

Schools where adolescents spend most of their time should develop a variety of activity programs to encourage them to participate in more physical activities in physical education time, break time, lunch time, and after-school time. To support the direction, educational policy and students and parents' perception on physical education should be changed, and organized plans should be developed through cooperation with experts of communities.
