  • A procedure based on liquid liquid extraction(LLE)-GC/MS has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of antioxidants and insecticides known as endocrine disrupters. The endocrine disrupters investigated in this study are butylated hydroxy anisole(BHA) and butylated hydroxy toluene(BHT), and the insecticides are allethrin and fenvalerate. The limit of detection(LOD) was 0.071~0.159 ng/ml with RSD of 1.41~5.34% for the standard sample. From water reservior of Han river, Geum river, Nakdong river and Sumjin river, these compounds were not detected. For the synthesized sample, the LOD is 0.051~0.132 ng/ml with RSD of 6.39~13.4%.

Manning's n Calibration and Sensitivity Analysis using Unsteady Flood Routing Model (부정류 모형을 이용한 하천 조도계수 산정 및 산정오차의 수면곡선에 대한 민감도 분석)

  • This study is to figure out uncertainty relationship between input data and calibrated parameter on unsteady hydraulic routing model. The uncertainty would be present to model results as a variant water surface profile along the channel. Firstly, Manning's n is calibrated through the model with assumed uncertainty on input hydrograph. Then, spatially distributed n-values sets based on the calibrated n values are used to get water profile of each n-values set. The results show that ${\pm}0.002$ of error in Manning's n cause ${\pm}30cm$ of maximum water surface differences at the Sumjin river.

  • 수문학 분야에서 수문자료의 정확도를 높이는 문제는 오래전부터 고민해왔던 사항이다. 이와 관련하여 정부에서는 수문자료의 정확도를 높이고 전국의 수자원 정보를 파악하기 위하여 수문관측 매뉴얼을 작성하고 전국의 주요 지점에 수위관측소를 설치하여 유량측정을 하고 있다. 2004년에도 5대강 권역별로 유량측정이 실시되었으며, 이중 섬진강에서 유량측정이 실시된 6개 지점에 대해 올해 처음으로 도입되어 수행된 유량측정 검증시스템의 적용 결과에 따른 유량측정성과, 수위-유량관계곡선 및 유량자료의 개선된 결과를 소개하고자 한다. 유량측정 검증시스템은 유량측정성과의 기본특성 검토, 이상치 여부 판별 및 평가 등 유량측정성과의 검증, 개선된 방법론에 따른 수위-유량관계곡선의 작성 환산된 유량자료의 평가 및 평가 결과 개선이 필요한 경우 수위-유량관계곡선의 재작성하는 피드백 과정으로 이루어진다.

Pollutant Load Delivery Ratio for Flow Duration at the Chooryeong-cheon Watershed (추령천 유역의 유황별 유달율 계산)

  • To provide the basic information for the water quality management of the Sumjin River Basin, delivery ratios for flow duration were studied. Using the day-interval data set of discharge and water quality observed from the Chooryeong-cheon watershed, the flow-duration and discharge-load relation curves for the watershed were established, then the load-duration curve was constructed. Delivery ratios for flow duration were also developed. Delivery ratios showed wide variation according to flow conditions. In general, delivery ratio of high flow condition showed higher value reflecting nonpoint source pollution contribution from the forest dominating watershed. To resolve this problem, a regression model explaining the relation between flow rate and delivery ratio was suggested. The delivery ratios for different flow regime could be used for pollutant load estimation and TMDL (Total maximum daily load) development.

  • 섬진강 하류의 하상변동을 분석하였다. 분석에 활용한 자료와 방법은 기존의 하천 측량자료와 HEC-6 모형이다. 모형의 입력 변수는 하상 단면 측량자료, 하상 구성 물질, 수문자료 등이다. 본 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 섬진강 하류 하상변화의 주요인은 수문자료의 변화에 따른 것이라기보다는 과도한 하상골재 채취 때문으로 판단된다. 마찰속도, 대표입경, 무차원 소류력 관계를 분석한 결과 전반적으로 하상의 상승을 나타내고 있다. 섬진강 하류의 하상 변동 분석결과 분석대상 전 구간에서 주로 퇴적이 발생하였다. 1989년$\sim$2000년까지의 섬진강 하류의 하상변동은 1978년$\sim$1989년의 변동 폭과 비교해 볼 때 비교적 변화가 작았으며, 이 기간에 섬진강 하류 하상은 침식보다는 주로 퇴적 양상을 보여 주고 있다. 따라서 현재 섬진강 하류의 하상은 골재 채취 이전의 하상 상태로 점점 상승하고 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Water and Nutrient Balance of Paddy Field Irrigated from a Pumping Station (양수장지구 광역논으로부터 영양염류 유출 및 물질수지)

  • A field monitoring study was carried out to investigate the water balance and losses of nutrients from paddy fields in Sumjin river basin. The size of paddy fields was 115 ha and the fields were irrigated from a pumping station. The runoff loading was the highest in June because of the high concentrations of nutrients due to applied fertilizer. The surface runoff losses of T-N and T-P in runoff water were 53.4 to 68.3kg/ha(average 59.7kg/ha) and 0.38 to 2.20kg/ha(average 1.42kg/ha), respectively. When the runoff losses of nutrients were compared to applied chemical fertilizer, it was found that 42% to 60% of nitrogen lost via runoff while runoff losses of phosphorus account for 3.0% to 17.2% of the total applied amount during entire year.

Storm Surge Caused by the Typhoon in Kwangyang Port (광양항에서의 폭풍해일 검토)

  • The surges caused by the typhoon of Korea are analysed in Kwangyang Bay. The deviations of the high water level were $74{\sim}185cm$ and the maximum deviations of the water level (maximum surges) were $151{\sim}240cm$ in Kwangyang Bay during the typhoon. The major parameters of the maximum deviations of the water level are as follows : Analysis shows that the pressure drop increased the sea level by $43{\sim}59cm$, the flood of the Sumjin River by $4{\sim}5cm$ and the external surge propagation and wind setup by $97{\sim}192cm$.

Runoff Pollutant Load of Agricultural Watershed (농업유역에서의 유출 오염부하량 조사)

  • This study was carried out to provide the basic information for the water quality management of the Sumjin River Basin. The Chooryeongchon stream watershed was selected and the parameters representing water quality were investigated from May 1999 to September 2002, periodically. Yearly mean runoff ratio to the rainfall amount of the watershed was analysed as $26.6{\sim}58.8%$. Temporal variation of water quality constituents such as water temperature, pH, EC, total nitrogen, total phosphorus were analysed. The result showed that pH ranged $5.7{\sim}7.7$, EC $54{\sim}167\;{\mu}S/cm$, COD $0.8{\sim}18.1\;mg/L$, respectively. Total-N and total-P concentration ranged from 0.89 to 5.19 mg/L and from 0.0004 to 0.030 mg/L, respectively. The relationships between runoff and mass load were derived and showed high linear relationships.

  • 본 연구는 강우에 내한 유역의 반응시간에 관한 연구로써 우리나라 자연하천유역에 적합한 도달시간 및 저류상수 산정공식을 개발하기 위하여 섬진강 유역을 대상으로 유역특성인자 및 강우 특성인자를 분석하고, 이를 다중회귀분석방범 중 최적의 회귀모형을 추출하기 위한 단계별 회귀분석방법을 이용하여 산정공식을 개발하였다. 그리고 개발된 산정공식으로부터의 도달시간 및 저류 상수들을 기존 경험공식의 값들과 비교하였으면, 또한 이를 Clark 모형에 적용하여 실제 호우사상들에 대한 유출수문곡선을 분석하여 관측수문곡선과 비교 검토하였다. 그 걸과 계산된 유출수문곡선과 관측수문곡선은 첨두유량 및 첨두발생시간에서 비교적 적은 오차를 보였으며, 유출수문곡선의 양상에서도 상호 높은 상관성을 보여 개발된 산정공식에 대한 적합성을 잘 나타내주고 있다.

Ecological Assessments of Aquatic Environment using Multi-metric Model in Major Nationwide Stream Watersheds (우리나라 주요하천 수계에서 다변수모델을 이용한 생태학적 수환경 평가)

  • The objective of this research was to develop ecological multi-metric models using natural fish assemblages for a diagnosis of current stream health condition, and apply the model to nationwide lotic ecosystems of the Geum River, the Youngsan River, and the Sumjin River. The ecological stream health model was based on the index of biological integrity (IBI), which was originally developed in North American streams by Karr (1981), and the Rapid Bioassessment Protocol (RBP), which was scientifically established by the US EPA (1999). The metric numbers and metric attributes were partially changed for the regional applications, so the scoring criteria was modified for the assessment. Overall, metric values, based on the IBI calculations, reflected conventional water quality characteristics, based on nutrient regime, and agreed with results of staticeco-toxicity tests. Some stations impaired in terms of stream health were identified by the IBI approach, and also major key stressors affecting the stream health were identified by additional evaluations of physical habitats. Our preliminary results suggested that biological integrity in stream ecosystems was largely disturbed by habitat degradation as well as chemical pollutions. This new approach would be used as a key tool for ecological restorations and species conservations in the degraded aquatic ecosystems in Korea and applied for elucidating major causes of ecological disturbances. Ultimately, this approach provides us an effective management strategy of stream ecosystems through establishments of ecological networks in various watersheds.
