  • There has been studied a lot of two dimensional hydrofoil sections for the boundary layers. This paper suggests that the plaiable roughness effects on boundary layer transition region of suction side for NACA 4412 hydrofoil sections provided by auxieiary shape factor and lag-entrainment effects. These results show that the laminar sepration. Transition and end of transition of the boundary layer due to pitting roughness effects, to the foil Reynold's number as well as to the angle of attack were delayed a little. And comparisons with valuable the other calculations and measurements show qualitative agreements.

  • Viscous flows around a cooling tower fan with sweep are numerically investigated. The Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation are solved in the flow domain. The Reynolds stresses are modelled using the $\kappa-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. The governing equations are discretized with the Finite Volume Method. The pressure and the velocity are linked with the SIMPLE algorithme. Flow and pressure characteristics around the fan are investigated. The pressure sharply increases through the fan. Pressure variations on the pressure and suction sides of the fan are well represened in the calculations. The flow streamlines in the blade passage are nearly parallel to the blade.

  • The Air-jet loom represents a major step in the development of shutterless weaving due to its ability to weave a wide range of yarns at high speeds. The Air-jet weaving involvers, inserting a pre-measured length of yam through the wrap, is sheds by meads of compressed air. The analysis of air flow characteristic of the main nozzle and acceleration tube is required for the loom performance. h this paper We examined the effect of the main nozzle with different acceleration tubes as well as diameters. And also, we compared the performance of straight type tube with laval type tube and of according to be suction hole on the acceleration tube, respectively.

  • The effects of flow interaction between mainstream and shrouded cavity leakage flow in an axial-flow compressor on aerodynamic losses are experimentally and numerically examined. A fraction of mainstream is Ingested in the downstream cavity and travelled in the shrouded cavity along the direction opposite to the mainstream. This leakage flow is caused by adverse pressure gradient along the blade passage. Then it is entrained through the upstream cavity near mid-pitch and interacts with the mainstream. As a result, the convection flow angle with respect to the blade chord is reduced i.e. underturning This underturned flow results in an increase in size of secondary flow formed near the suction side of the blade as well as its magnitude. Consequently, this causes pronounced increase in overall aerodynamic losses compared to the blading without shrouded cavity, leading to $9\%$ decrease in pressure rise through the single stage of the stators.

  • Reduction of labor hour for cleaning up of the used abrasives after blasting. is attempted by improving the efficiency of abrasive recovery process in the protective coating of ship's block, For this purpose, the theoretical background for pneumatic transport technology in the abrasive recovery system as well as experimental evaluation on the effect of design parameters such as flow pattern, saltation velocity and pressure drop on the efficiency of the abrasive recovery system are employed . By optimizing the operating parameters such as the length and diameter of the suction hose, specification of recovery device and recovery mouth, a new method which can dramatically increase the efficiency of abrasive recovery system, is proposed.

  • This paper describes the results of a study on the unmanned cleaning robot that performs the cleaning of the floating photovoltaic panels. The robot uses two SSC (Sliding Suction Cup) adsorptive devices to move up and down the slope. First, the forces generated when the robot moves up the slope are mechanically analyzed. The robot was designed and manufactured to operate stably by using the presented results. Next, the robot motion was tested on the inclined panel. It has been proven that robots are well designed and built to clean sloped panels.

  • The pressure sensitive paint (PSP) technique has been well established in external flow field. However, there are still unresolved issues in internal flow field. This work was focused on the application to unsteady pressure measurement of fan flow field. The PSP measurement system was established and the image processing software was developed. First, the performance of PSP was investigated at the static cell. Then the unsteady PSP measurement was carried out at fan test facility. PSP data images were acquired from the suction and pressure surface of stator vanes. Pressure distributions on the surface of the stator vane were detected non-intrusively. The issues of image acquisition and image processing were clarified through the practical PSP application to fan flow field.

  • The performance of shock absorber is directly related to the car behaviour and performance, both for handling and comfort. In this study, a mathematical nonlinear dynamic model and computational method are introduced to study the flow and performance of shock absorber. The flow characteristics of components(piston and body valve) are investigated and applied to dynamic modeling of shock absorber to predict the damping force. The simulation results agree with the test data well. The shock absorber model proposed in this paper is applicable as a part of a full vehicle suspension simulation.

  • This paper describes the effect of the incidence angle on the turbulence structure in the wake of a turbine rotor blade at the low inlet free-stream turbulence level. For three incidence angles of -5, 0 and 5 degrees, mid-span energy spectrum as well as mid-span profiles of mean velocity magnitude and turbulence intensity are reported at three downstream locations in the wake. Vortex shedding frequencies are obtained from the energy spectrum. The result shows that as the incidence angle changes from-5 to 5 degrees, the boundary layer on the suction surface tends to be thickened, which results in widening of the wake. Strouhal numbers based on the shedding frequencies have a nearly constant value of 0.3, independent of tested incidence angles.

  • The pressure pulsation due to the gear geometry of the gerotor (generalized rotor) pump mainly occurs in an instant that the chamber of the gerotor enters the delivery port and leaves the suction one. Such a pressure pulsation may result in undesirable vibration and noise of pump components as well as cavitation in hydraulic system. Therefore, it is very important to examine the pressure characteristic of the gerotor pump at its design and analysis stages. In this paper, in order to reduce the pressure pulsation in the gerotor pump, the port plate with the relief grooves is designed by referring to as notch of vane pump and relief groove of piston pump. A series of the theoretical analyses on the pressure pulsation is performed in consideration of various design parameters of the port plate, including the installation positions of the port inlet/outlet and the groove width, and the operating conditions such as rotational velocity and delivery pressure.
