이젝터가 부착된 냉동시스템의 성능실험

  • Experimental investigation on the performance of dual-evaporator refrigeration system with an ejector has been carried out. In this study, a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant R134a is chosen as a working fluid. The condenser and two-evaporators are made as concentric double pipes with counter-flow type heat exchangers. Experiments were performed by changing the inlet and outlet temperatures of secondary fluids entering condenser, high-pressure evaporator and low-pressure evaporator at test conditions keeping a constant compressor speed. When the external conditions (inlet temperatures of secondary fluid entering condenser and one evaporator) are fixed, results show that coefficient of performance (COP) increases as the inlet temperature of the other evaporator rises. It is also shown that the COP decreases as the mass flaw rate ratio of suction fluid to motive fluid increases. The COP of dual-evaporator refrigeration system with an ejector is superior to that of a single-evaporator vapor compression system by 3 to 6%.

  • In this study, the ejector design was modeled using Fluent 6.3 of FVM(Finite Volume Method) CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) techniques to resolve the flow dynamics in the ejector. A vacuum system with the ejector has been widely used because of its simple construction and easy maintenance. Ejector is the main part of the desalination system, of which designs determine the efficiency of system. The effects of the ejector was investigated geometry and the operating conditions in the hydraulic characteristics. The ejector consists mainly of a nozzle, suction chamber, mixing tube(throat), diffuser and draft tube. Liquid is supplied to the ejector nozzle, the fast liquid jet produced by the nozzle entrains and the non condensable gas was sucked into the mixing tube. In the present study, the multiphase CFD modeling was carried out to determine the hydrodynamic characteristics of seawater-air ejector. Two-dimensional geometry was considered with the quadrilateral-mashing scheme. The gas suction rate increases with increasing Motive flow circulating rate.

  • The simulation of refrigeration cycle is important since the experimental approach is too costly and time-consuming. The present simulation focuses on the effect of capillary tube-suction line heat exchangers (CT-SLHX), which are widely used in small vapor compression refrigeration systems. The simulation of steady states is based on fundamental conservation equations of mass and energy. These equations are solved simultaneously through iterative process. The non-adiabatic capillary tube model is based on homogeneous two-phase model. This model is used to understand the refrigerant flow behavior inside the non-adiabatic capillary tubes. The simulation results show that both of the location and length of heat exchange section influence the coefficient of performance (COP). These results can be used in either design calculation of capillary tube length for refrigeration cycle or effect of suction line heat exchanging on refrigeration cycle.

  • The simulation of refrigeration cycle is important since the experimental approach is costly and time-consuming. The present paper focuses on the simulation of a refrigeration cycle equipped with a capillary tube-suction line heat exchanger(SLHX), which is widely used in small vapor compression refrigeration systems. The present simulation is based on fundamental conservation equations of mass, momentum, and energy. These equations are solved through an iterative process. Performance Characteristics of Air Driven Ejector According to the Position Changes and the Shape of Driving Nozzle (공기구동 이젝터의 노즐 형상과 위치 변화에 따른 성능 특성)

  • The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of motive pressure, driving nozzle position and nozzle throat ratio on the performance of ejector. The experiment was conducted in the variation of motive pressure of 0.196, 0.294, 0.392 and 0.490MPa respectively. The position of driving nozzle was varied in difference locations according to mixing tube diameter(0.5d, 1d, 2d, 3d, 4.15d, 5d and 6d). The experimental results show when the nozzle outlet is located at 3d, the flow characteristics change abruptly. It is shown that the suction flow rate and pressure lift ratio of ejector is influenced by the driving nozzle position. At nozzle position location of the Id of mixing tube diameter the performance of ejector gives the best performance.

  • An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the suction performance of a designed inlet. Total pressure distortion in the inlet S-duct was measured and the effect of lip thickness and throat area was analyzed. The volume flow rate of air into the turbojet engine was controlled to observe the effect of engine RPM to the total pressure distortion. The pressure data from 36 air tubes were obtained using scanivalve, pressure transducer, and visicoder system.

  • A sirocco fan is widely used for discharging pollutants of a kitchen space since it is able to generate a relatively high air flow rate considering its small size and makes less noise than a axial fan or a centrifugal fan. However, it has a problem because its efficiency is low, and power consumption is larger. Performance of a sirocco fan is influenced by various factors such as number of the fan blades, diameter of the fan, geometry of the fan, geometry of its housing, revolution frequency, static pressure condition, and etc. This research investigated the effect on the performance of geometry of the housing. For CFD analysis, we used a commercial code, SC/Tetra, and used a sliding mesh method to give the same condition as an actual state. Verification of the CFD results is done by comparison of experimental data and numerical one about the suction flow rate, and it is confirmed that two results are well consistent. After we changed the shape of housing according to Archimedes' screw, we observed that suction efficiency is improved by 10.7% maximum.

  • The capillary tube/suction line heat exchanger (SLHX) is widely used in small refrigeration systems. The refrigerant flowing in the SLHX experiences frictional and accelerational head losses, flashing, and heat transfer simultaneously. The simulation of refrigerant flow through SLHX is important since this will help engineers analyze and optimize the SLHX incorporated in a refrigeration system. The present SLHX model is based on conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy. Also a meta-stable model is included. All these equations are solved simultaneously. In this paper, HFC-134a refrigerant flow through a non-adiabatic capillary tube is simulated. The simulation results are discussed but not validated against experimental measurements yet.

  • In an apartment house that is generally air-tight and well insulated, the combustion gas from cooking devices is the major source of air pollution in the kitchen. It spreads throughout the house affecting the overall Indoor all quality. In this study, the performance of the kitchen range hood which employs air induction and air curtain was investigated by numerical simulation. The results are compared with that of two other kitchen range hoods which are in general use. The two general types of range hoods considered in the present calculations are box and plate type range hoods. The former has a large capture space between the filter and suction duct, while the latter has little. It was found that the capture efficiency of the kitchen range hood with air induction and air curtain Is higher than that of the general types of range hoods by 20% approximately The reason may be because the air induction and the air curtain block the air stream escaping from the front and the side part of range hoods effectively and because an additional fan for air induction and air curtain increases suction flow rates.

  • When the suction pressure of compressor decreases under its limit, the compression ratio is increased causing the malfunctions of compressor. As the method to decrease the compression ratio, hot gas bypass system is usually adopted in heat pump system. In the hot gas bypass system, the discharged gas from the compressor is bypassed into the compressor suction, which causes the increase of suction pressure and the decrease of compression ratio. In this study, the characteristics and performances of the hot gas bypass system in heat pump was investigated experimentally with a variation of the bypass flow rate ratio. With the increase of the bypass rate ratio, the compressor suction pressure was increased, even though the total capacity and COP was decreased. From the analysis of the experimental results, the optimum pressure control algorithm was suggested in this study.
