  • This paper addresses construction of a new network of invention education through the internet and creates a plan to apply it to practical invention education. We examined the status of invention education in Korea, the U.S., and Japan to consider problems of practical invention education and to draw a particular direction for the future invention education. Various papers, books, and documents related invention education were reviewed to make teaching and teaming strategies of invention education. Based on the analyses, criteria of teaching and loaming were identified as how to challenge teachers, students, parents, and administrators to successful implement invention education practices. Using the criteria of teaching and teaming, we designed a framework for a website and constructed a practical website concerned with invention education, including constructive components in the framework. This will require an experimental application during which teachers and researchers can do revisions and add supplementary information. This network system will provide practical information in regard to invention education and created a communications system for in charge of invention education.

  • This study examines the significance of digital fabrication of scaled physical models in the digital design process and highlights the integration of design computing and digital fabrication in architectural education. Advances in CAD/CAM technologies have increasingly influenced building design and construction practices by allowing the production of complex forms that were once difficult to design and construct using traditional technologies. At the advent of digital architecture, schools of architecture introduced digital technologies to their curriculum, focusing more on design computing than digital fabrication, preventing students from completely mastering digital technologies. The significance of digital fabrication for scaled physical models as a design media within the digital design loop is discussed. Two case studies of leading schools of architecture that are successful in building the bridge between both areas are given. These focus on the curricular structure to integrate both areas within design studios. Finally, a curricular structure offering students a balanced approach to these areas of knowledge is proposed based on what was learned from these case studies.

  • With the advent of the 6th and the 7th national educational curricula in Korea. English language teaching in communicative perspective has been highly recommended and widely practised in that context. The aim of new approach is to enhance the students' general communication abilities in English. However, English teachers still find it very hard to improve the students' communicative competence in English since English remains to be taught as a school subject. In so far as English is taught as a school subject, students' attention is paid to the formal elements of English and the increase in communicative competence in English is hardly expected Only when the students' attention is paid to the content, their communicative competence is expected to increase. The best way to shift the students' attention from formal elements to content is to teach other school subjects in English, that is, English immersion education. To introduce immersion education to Korea, the two most successful examples of Singapore and Hong Kong are reviewed in terms of language policies and general practices in their primary and secondary schools respectively. To implement the program into Korea, extensive research on it is expected henceforth.

  • Information Systems (IS) auditing has been know to be helpful in developing optimal IS and managing information resources successfully. The public sector of Korea has witnessed the rapidly growing demand for IS auditing. However, there is a dearth of research that evaluate the effects of IS auditing. This study assesses the impacts of IS auditing based on a process perspective. In order to evaluate the effects objectively and properly, the current study collected empirical data from 58 firms. This stuuy confirmed that IS auditing was a very effective tool for successful IS implementation. The results show that IS auditing improves “project management”, “support”, and “engineering” practices while it does not make any impact on “contract” practice. In general, IS auditing has a tremendous impact on facilitating organization’quality improvement efforts.

  • Sunchon National University Farming Promotion Center is a unique social education institution for the farmers. This study intends to analyze the educational and training programs for future farmer candidates with a expert technology, successors to the rural leaders of Saemaul Movements, expert farmers, the students of farming practice courses in the Department of Agricultural Education, and the citizens participating in the social education courses. It is an urgent problem to recruit the experts in social education, and in specialized and advanced farm management technology. A committee for the betterment of the social education program should be consisted of the social education experts, and alumni of the Farming Promotion Center to share their farming information with one another. In order to achieve the successful goal in the education program of the Farming Promotion Center, the well planned field trips and the supervised farming practices should be secured, and the follow-up management system for the people finishing the courses of the educational programs should be formulated.

  • Even though we have greater chances to accomplish successful collaborative design by utilizing recent proliferation of networks, current practices do not fully take advantage of the information infrastructure. There are so much data over the networks, but not enough knowledge about the data is available to users. The main objectives of the product data interface system proposed in this paper are to capture more knowledge on managing product data and to provide users effective search capability. We define the metadata model for product data defined in STEP AP 203 and manage the metadata from product data in a repository system. Because we utilize the standard formats such as STEP for product data and RDF for metadata, the proposed approach can be applied to various fields of industries independently on commercial products.

  • The successful knowledge and information based companies facilitate to restructure the industry and strengthen the national competitiveness in the future. The advent of information age provides us new challenge because the information breakthrough can play a pivotal role in terms of knowledge transfer in the human resource management. This research focuses on best practices of human management and contrasting the human resource strategy of Japanese and American firms respectively, Based on this, we suggest the strategic alternatives of the described HR problems as well as the way of effective human resource management for Korean venture firms. We have reviewed the previous international and domestic literatures in details to understand HR liabilities of newness of venture firms in terms of the population ecology. The objective of this research is to solve the HR problems that Korean firms faced with.

  • Purpose - This study attempted to identify any influencing relationships, between the antecedent variables and the members' innovative work behavior, which were expected to influence organizational performance based on the extended theory of planned behavior (ETPB). Research design, data, and methodology - The survey was conducted on SMEs in Seoul and its metropolitan area. A total of 158 copies of effective questionnaires were used and were analyzed through correlation analysis, regression analysis, and multiple regression. Results - Self-efficacy, value, intrinsic motivation, and self-enhancing bias have been found to have a positive relationship with innovative work behavior. In addition, transformational leadership was found to moderate the existence of a statistically significant negative influence between value, intrinsic motivation, and innovative work behavior. Conclusions - The results suggest that leaders will be successful in winning members' trust through conducting their behaviors in accordance with the applicable ethical and moral standards and through their fair, transparent, and legitimate management practices with an attitude of 'taking the initiative and setting an example', and this will help solve such problems.
