  • Owing to remarkable development in automotive industry, vehicle performance comes close to perfection and guarantee of stability is getting emphasized in accordance with high speed trend in vehicle. In recent years, the utilization of automatic test method for research and development of automotive brake system is being propelled actively, which pursue whole automatic control from simple measurement to data acquisition. The main subject of this paper is to make a brief explanation on Micro computer controlled Automatic Test Method for Automotive Brake System which makes it possible to test with high accuracy and speed.

  • Confidence intervals for the population proportion in a double sampling scheme subject to false-positive misclassification are considered. The confidence intervals are obtained by applying Agresti and Coull's approach, so-called "adding two-failures and two successes". They are compared in terms of coverage probabilities and expected widths with the Wald interval and the confidence interval given by Boese et al. (2006). The latter one is a test-based confidence interval and is known to have good properties. It is shown that the Agresti and Coull's approach provides a relatively simple but effective confidence interval.

  • This paper adopts the psychoacoustical methodology to evaluate the acoustical qualities of rooms and describes some of the results of an attempt to develop such a test. In order to investigate the effect of hall response to subjects, a subjective experiment was performed in artificially simulated sound fields. Pairs of sounds having differences in duration/frequency were presented to a subject and the subject's responses were recorded. The stimuli were varied through an auralization system that simulates three different rooms. It was found that duration/frequency discrimination is influenced by the room conditions and that these discrimination procedures may form the basis for assessment of room acoustics.

  • Underground flexible pipes for electric cables are subject to external loads and surrounding soil pressure. Particularly, strain of flexible pipes is of great concern in terms of safety and maintenance for electric cables. In this study, the actual size tests were carried out to investigate strain-deformation relation for underground flexible pipes subject to vehicle loads with various depths and degree of compaction.

Physical and numerical modeling of drag load development on a model end-bearing pile

  • A centrifuge model study is carried out to investigate the behavior of pile subject to negative skin friction induced by pile installation, ground water drawdown and surcharge loading. A single end-bearing pile is examined as the induced negative skin friction would induce the most severe stress on the pile structural material as compared to friction piles. In addition, the behavior of the pile under simultaneous negative skin friction and dead/live loads is examined. To facilitate detailed interpretations of the test results, the model setup is extensively instrumented and involves elaborate test control schemes. To further examine the phenomenon of negative skin friction on an end-bearing pile, finite element analyses were conducted. The numerical analysis is first validated against the centrifuge test data and subsequently extended to examine the effects of pile slenderness ratio, surcharge intensity and pile-soil stiffness ratio on the degree of mobilization of negative skin friction induced on the pile. Finally experimental and numerical studies are conducted to examine the effect of applied transient live load on pile subject to negative skin friction.

A Chaos of Understanding on Performance Assessment in Mathematics Education (수학과 수행평가에 관한 이해의 혼돈 -최근 국내 논문 분석을 중심으로-)

  • From the mid-1990s in Korea, performance assessment has been continuously emphasized in school mathematics and thus many researchers and teachers have been steadily studying this topic. But the concepts relevant to performance assessment and its purposes are very confusing because the mathematics educators' different views and voices are vary. As a result most mathematics teachers experience trouble in executing performance assessment properly and effectively in their math class. This unability for proper execution of performance assessment was once again revealed in this study which dealt with 15 articles on performance assessment. These 15 articles includes almost every article written on the topic of performance assessment that have been published in 4 domestic journals since December 1997. By examining this inability, it is required that its concepts and purposes should be organized with a common view and newly defined in the near future. Effect of Physiotherapeutic Intervention Using TECAR Therapy on Pain Self-Awareness and Hip Joint Function in Hip Impingement Syndrome: A Case Study

  • PURPOSE: The current case study focuses on identifying the effects of the independent application of TECAR therapy and physiotherapeutic intervention using TECAR therapy on pain self-awareness and hip joint function in patients with hip impingement syndrome caused by nonstructural changes. Subjects: The research subject was a 34-year-old woman struggling with acute pain in her left hip, difficulty in actively moving the hip, and a problem in its overall function. METHODS: The subject's pain awareness and hip joint function were measured using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and passive range of motion (PROM), respectively. The experimental intervention was carried out in 24 sessions of 16 minutes each, three times a week, for eight weeks. RESULTS: The VAS score decreased to 0 cm on the post-test from 4.3 cm, 6.5 cm, and 7.2 cm in the pre-test at the rest, standing, and gait positions, respectively. The index of PROM measured hip joint flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal rotation, external rotation, and passive straight leg raise. The values increased to 122.5°, 24.5°, 78°, 33°, 65°, 42°, and 96.5° in the post-test compared to 88.5°, 15°, 39°, 21.5°, 23°, 22°, and 46.5° in the pre-test, respectively. CONCLUSION: TECAR therapy and physiotherapeutic intervention using TECAR can help reduce pain and enhance the hip joint function in patients with hip impingement syndrome.

Analysing a Selective Examination for the Gifted and Talented : on the basis of domain-general and specific viewpoint of creativity in a college gifted center (대학 영재원 영재선발시험의 단계별 연관성에 관한 연구 : 창의성의 일반 영역적 관점과 특수 영역적 관점에서)

  • This study aims to analyze a selective examination for the gifted and talented from a domain-general and special standpoint. For this, we analyzed gifted and talented test results carried out by Gifted and Talented Education institute affiliated with the university of Education located in the central region of South Korea. This test consisted of three sections which are giftedness in the first round, academic aptitude in the second round and interview in the last round. I conducted the analysis of variance of the giftedness test result to the gifted and talented group in each subject from the domain-general point of view. As a result, the each group was not significant. This means that the gifted and talented in each subject has giftedness from the domain-general viewpoint. Secondly, I implemented the analysis of correlation among three test such as giftedness, academic aptitude and interview conducted during the selective process for the gifted and talented. The result was that they had a low or no correlations between them and were not significant. This demonstrated that each test checked a different area. That is, we came to realize that the first, second and third test evaluates a different area and in particular, with the result that the first and second test had a low or no correlations between both of them we realized that they evaluated a different area from a domain-special standpoint. The purpose of this study is meaningful to investigate in terms of how the selective test for the gifted and talented is conducted from a domain-general and special standpoint as a recent study viewpoint about the gifted and talented along with creativity. It is too limited to generalize this result because this test was sampled by one region but, this study indicates that we should take a domain-general and special standpoint into account when it comes to selection for the gifted and talented.

Trend analysis of secondary school mathematics teacher certification examination (중등교사 임용시험 수학교과 내용학 문항의 출제 경향 분석)

  • This study analyzed the questions related to the content knowledge of mathematics subject for the middle and high school teacher employment examination conducted from the school year of 2009 to 2012 based on the evaluation scope of the mathematics subject content knowledge and evaluation contents which were presented by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation(KICE). To achieve the objectives of this study, a total of 105 questions were collected with respect to the questions that appeared on the test over the last 4 years which aimed to evaluate the level of applicants' knowledge related to the contents of mathematics subject. The ratio of the contents covered in the test was assessed based on the scope of evaluation and the items for evaluation among the 9 subjects. Based on the results, suggestions were presented in relation to the operation of the mathematics curriculum for the department of mathematics education at the college of education or the restructuring of the evaluation scope. There was a significant difference in the ratio of items that appeared on the test among the 9 subjects related to the content knowledge of mathematics. Also, there was a remarkable difference in the ratio of items covered in the test among the evaluation scope by subject. The results of analysis on the evaluation content items suggested that 149 items out of 256 items did not appear in the teacher employment examination for 4 years. Based on such results of analysis, this study discussed the need for readjusting the ratio of items covered in the test of content knowledge related to mathematics or the evaluation scope and evaluation content items.

  • This study analyzed questions related to the content knowledge on the subject of chemistry for middle and high school teacher employment examinations conducted from the school years 2009 to 2013 based on the evaluation scope of the chemistry subject content knowledge and evaluation contents that were presented by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE). To achieve the objectives of this study, a total of 140 questions were collected with respect to the questions that appeared on the test over the last 5 years, which aimed to evaluate the level of applicants' knowledge related to the contents of chemistry subject. Based on the results, suggestions were presented in relation to the operation of the chemistry curriculum for the Department of Chemistry Education at the college of education or the restructuring of the evaluation scope. Also, there was a remarkable difference in the ratio of items covered in the test among the evaluation scope by subject. The results of the analysis on the evaluation content items suggested that 41 items out of 122 did not appear in the teacher employment examination for 5 years. Based on such results of analysis, this study discussed the need for readjusting the ratio of items covered in the test on content knowledge related to chemistry or the evaluation scope and evaluation content items.
