Research Trends in Educational Journal Articles: Content Analysis (학술지 내용분석법에 의한 교육학 연구동향 분석)

  • This research used content analysis to examine the research trends of two core journals from 2000 to 2009 in education. The analysis measured research subjects, research methods, research behaviors, numbers of author and co-authors' affiliations, and research funds. The results showed that research articles in educational administration and higher education have increased constantly, whereas research articles in other fields have decreased. Experimental research method was shown to be used widely along with documentary research and survey research method. Most researches were done by one author and each of them were affiliated to universities or research institutions. The research suggested practical educational research, comparative research on international issues and indexes, methodological elaboration, and use of various units of analysis for future studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to assist librarians in developing a bibliographic tool for bibliotherapy practices. Bibliotherapy is a form of psychotherapy in which carefully selected leading materials are used to assist a subject in solving personal problems or for other therapeutic purposes. However, bibliotherapy has rarely been either studied or practiced in Korea For a bibliographic tool which is called 'situational leading list', a client situation has to be classified by the factors of biological. place and personal relations. type of stress or symptoms. This study, in this regard, examined related recent researches In the field of psychology or psychoanalysis. Main conclusions made in this study are summarized as follows : The most important factors to classify a client situation in a bibliographic tool are age, sometimes sex, home background, personal relations and mental health issues. This study also suggest the scheme of situation classification according to the decimal classification system. There are the general class, child class, teenager class, adult class and senior class in the classification system.

The Impacts of Author's Demographic Properties and Research Fields on Citing Internet Based Resources in LIS Field (연구자의 특성과 연구 분야가 인터넷 정보자원 인용에 미치는 영향 - 문헌정보학 분야를 중심으로 -)

  • Researchers often cite Internet-based information as references for their research papers, and the amount of this type of citation has continued to grow, which resulted in the increased significance of Internet-based academic resources. This study first examines the current trend of citing Internet-based resources in the academic communication process of all academic fields, and then attempts to analyze the factors, such as gender and age, affecting this trend and its consequences in the specific area of LIS in Korea. For this, the author adopt both citation analysis and statistical analysis as research methods. Overall increase of citing internet-based resource is confirmed in all academic fields. Specific analysis of the LIS field revealed that gender is related with the degree of usage, and the age with whether or not adopting this type of citation. Meanwhile, the subject area of the researchers is related with both whether or not adopting this method and the degree of it. This study provides understanding current status of increased utilization of Internet-based resources in academic communications, and further makes suggestions for the effective academic communication of the future.

A study on the list of must books in middle schools (중고등학교 필독도서목록에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the necessity, selection, organization and management of Must Books List in middle schools. A great book can change a person's life and future. Especially, reading in the juvenile period is important because of their intellectual curiosity and sensitivity. The results of the study were as follows: 1. The necessity of Must Books can be considered in two perspectives : One is the cultivation of emotion and sense of value and the other is the development of information abilities. 2. The general criteria for the selection of Must Books are whether a book is su n.0, pportive of learning activities, of extracurricular activities, and of activities for school festivals. And whether a book is contributing to the building of good characters of students or not should be considered, too. 3. The special attention should be given to such matters as the organizational and distributional ratio among subjects of the Must Books, the degree of difficulties, the ratio of books for both male and female students, the ratio of foreign books to domestics, the possibilities of further reading and the bibliographical matters. 4. The points to be duly considered for the management of Must Books List are the educational considerations, clearness of objectives, the elimination of commercialism and authoritarianism in the book selection. The Must Books List should be managed autonomously, depending on the characteristics of each school and be updated annually. However, the most important thing is that the teacher should be a good reader himself. 5. It is better to include short stories than the long one in the Must Book List. Students should be guided to read explanatory text first and then to move to the original text. And they should be exposed to books in various subjects and not to be too dependent on the Must Books List. They should be able to develop the problem solving ability through the reading of the Must Books. 6. Finally, the Must Books selection committee should be composed of both teacher librarian and subject teachers. It is desirable that books for the cultivation of emotion, for the establishment of sense of value, and for the development of information ability should be selected by consulting the various reading lists compiled by the Ministry of Education, the Board of Local Education and other authorities concerned.

교양명저 선정제도

  • This paper is a study of the system of liberal great books selection in universities of Korea. A questionnaire consisted of 14 questions was sent to 46 universities of which 42 universities responded. Results of the study can be summarized as follows: 1) Liberal great books selection system was operated 40% of universities, but 60% was not operated because of not preparation and without perception of necessity. 2) The name of liberal great books was varied in 11 kinds of 16 universities. It is desirable that the name is unified. 3) The founded year of liberal great books selection system was new comparatively with enhanced liberal education. 4) The greater part of liberal great books format were a leaf of catalog, but it is desirable that book form catalog with review for induction of reading interests. 5) It is desirable that renewal of liberal great books are irregularly in answer to a need. 6) It is a n.0, ppeared that selection of liberal great books were by professor, but it is desirable that selection is by many people of all parts without prejudices and subjectivity. 7) The title of liberal great books were 121 titles in average. It is desirable that the titles are about 100 titles for expected results. 8) In a duplicates of liberal great books, 5 copy is much more than other cases. It is desirable that the duplicates depend on students, use rates, budget etc. of universities. 9) Use rates of liberal great books are much more than other books, but it is necessary that public relations and stimulation of reading for most use. 10) In subject analysis, liberal great books consisted of humanities, social sciences and novel mainly. Specially, literature is 33% of the total. 11) Liberal great books consisted of occidental works and literature mainly. 12) It is a n.0, ppeared that analysis of a n.0, ppointment frequency was scattered exceedingly.

A Study of the Curriculum Design based on Digital Environment for the Private Certificates of Reading Instruction (독서지도 민간자격의 디지털 환경 기반 교육과정 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the curriculum for the private certificates of reading instruction newly which can perform a reading instruction effectively in digital environment as the digital technology has changed the overall paradigm of reading. The curriculum for the private certificates of reading instruction was designed and proposed finally through deriving the implications over an study of the changes about reading paradigm in digital environment, searching the features and benefits over an in-depth analysis of domestic and international curriculum practices for training reading specialist, collecting the opinions and verification work over a Delphi survey of experts in the field of reading instruction. The finally developed curriculum consists of 6 kinds of training area, 21 kinds of subject and 82 kinds of training course content respectively to achieve the main function and purpose of the changed reading instruction in digital environment and in order to train reading specialist capable of applying properly them in reading instruction field.

Analysis of Open Access Status of Domestic Author's Papers Published in International Journals: Based on Highly Cited Papers (국내연구자가 출판한 국제학술지 논문의 오픈액세스 현황 - 고피인용된 논문 중심 -)

  • This study used the Unpaywall API, one of the open tools to track the OA version, to empirically identify the OA of 3,905 papers that have been published by Korean corresponding authors since 2015 in international journals. As a result, the following facts were found. First, less than 30% of papers have been open accessed, and more than half of them were bronze OA. Secondly, the archiving site of the Green OA papers was found not to be domestic but mainly subject repositories or institutional repositories of overseas universities to which co-authors belong. Third, only 19.6% of research fund granted papers were open accessed and half of them were in the medical field. In contrast to the international trends in which the OA papers showed higher citations, the analyzed OA papers showed no higher citations than the non-OA papers.

Analyzing the Trends of the Korean Information User Studies (국내 정보이용자연구 동향분석)

  • As a type of humanities discipline, information user studies tend to have influence and applicability on the related research fields. However, research trends and status of the user studies in Korea have not been extensively explored and thus resulted in limited sharing of the research outcomes. In this research, all papers related to the information user studies were selected from 5,392 articles reported in the five Korean Library and Information Science Journals. The chosen papers were classified according to the subject categories then qualitatively analyzed in terms of research productivity and trends. Library was the main theme of the information user studies. A number of suggestions were generated to apply the information user studies outcomes in solving academic as well as wider societal problems.

  • The purpose of this study aims to provide possible suggestions for the improvement of the korean Decimal Classification System in 21th century through the analysis of history field as the subject of study. As a result of this study, some problems(for example, irrational classification number system, very simplicity of $\lceil$Table of Geographic Areas. Historical Periods. Persons$\rfloor$. improper development of class 900, necessity of some internal tables and $\lceil$Table of Racial, Ethnic, National Groups$\rfloor$, insufficiency of note etc.) were found out. This study can be useful for the future revision of KDC4 because a revolutionary improvement were provided.

  • The Joseon Dynasty suffered a great loss from the Japan invasion of Korea in 1592. At that time so many precious books were plundered by Japanese Army. And that plundered books, now in Japan, include a lot of complete titles of the books were given by the Kings - the Naesabon (內賜本) - of the early Joseon Dynasty period. If we could find out the quantities and the contents of them, it could be helpful for studying the same books remained incompletely now in Korea. In this respect, understanding current situation of the Naesabon(內賜本) is an important subject of the Korean bibliographic and historical studies. The purpose of this study is finding out the current situation of the Naesabon(內賜本) now in Japan, especially published in 16th century.
