  • Objective: The study looked at the relationship between the mother's adult attachment, the children's problematic behavior and the mother's nurturing attitude. In doing so, this study tried to determine whether the mother's nurturing attitude would play a moderating role in the context of the effect of mother' adult attachment on the children's problematic behavior. Methods: we surveyed 352 mothers of 3~5 year old infants who were financially dependent on day care centers. Results: The problematic behavior of being daunted is high when mothers' adult attachment of avoidance is high and when mothers have low level of controlling pattern in their nurturing of their children. The problematic behavior of anxiety and depression was observed when adult attachment of anxiety was high and low level of controlling pattern in their nurturing. Meanwhile, when the externalized problematic behaviors were examined, no interaction effect of mothers' adult attachment and nurturing pattern was observed in all sub-levels of the children's externalized problematic behaviors. Conclusion/Implications: We could see how the influence of parenting attitude appears in mothers with unstable adult attachment. In addition, mothers with unstable adult attachment may be able to confirm that the quality of the interaction of the parent-child relationship and the form of the child's problem behavior differ according to the level of the mother's parenting attitude in the child's problem behavior. The results of this study showed that mothers with unstable adult attachment differed in the form of problem behaviors of infants according to mother's parenting attitude in infant problem behaviors.

  • The effects of $CO_2$ concentration, nutrient levels, and irradiance on the growth of germlings and juveniles, and on the photosynthesis of adults were examined in a green tide alga, Ulva australis. We used a factorial experimental design with two $CO_2$ concentrations (380 and 750 ppm), two nutrient levels (control and PES medium), and two irradiance levels (50 and $100{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$). Germlings grew best ($664.15{\pm}61.45{\mu}m$ in length) under conditions of 750 ppm, PES, and $100{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ after 10 days in culture. Relative growth rates (RGR) of the juveniles were greatest (4.41% $day^{-1}$) under conditions of 750 ppm, PES, and $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ after 5 days in culture. Photosynthetic efficiency ($F_v/F_m$) of the adult discs was $0.73{\pm}0.05$ before the experiment and reached a maximum ($0.83{\pm}0.01$) under conditions of 750 ppm, control, and $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ after 5 days in culture. Growth (germlings and juveniles) and photosynthesis (adult discs) of Ulva australis increased when $CO_2$ levels were 750 ppm. Additionally, the optimal irradiance for growth and photosynthesis differed among stages, wherein germlings grew best at $100{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$, juveniles grew best at $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$, and adults photosynthesized most at $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$. The performance of Ulva australis at all examined life stages was enhanced under the PES nutrient treatment. In conclusion, the physiological responses of U. australis to varying $CO_2$, nutrient, and irradiance levels differed slightly among life stages. However, growth and photosynthesis always increased with elevated $CO_2$ and nutrient concentrations. These results indicate that U. australis green tide blooms might occur more frequently in coastal areas if $CO_2$ and nutrient concentrations increase.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of family-related factors and age-friendly environment on intergenerational interaction in middle-aged group and the older adult group. Based on the results, this study is to suggest countermeasures for decreasing intergenerational interaction with the population aging. This study analyzed 260 sample participants aged from 45 to 64 and 399 sample participants aged 64 and more, categorizing them into middle-aged group and the older adult group respectively. The sample participants were taken from '2014 Survey on the Aged Society' and had at least one adult child aged over 18 at the time of participation. In order to identify the relationship between five sub-dimensions related to family, age-friendly environment and intergenerational interaction within the family in two age groups, t-test and multiple regression analysis were used. As a result, both two family-related factors had positive correlation with intergenerational interaction within the family. However, affective solidarity showed a higher significance in the middle-aged group and familism showed a higher significance in the older adult group. Among the sub-dimensions related to age-friendly environment, only personal opinion on age integration showed significance in the older adult group. This study provides several implications from the results.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and narcissism on body stress. Questionnaires are being administered to 206 women in their 20's-50's living in Deagu and Kyunbook province. The Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan-test are used for data analysis. Sociocultural attitudes toward appearance are categorized into media appearance internalization and social recognition of appearance. Narcissism factors are found to be leadership/privilege, ostentation, and superiority. Body stress is categorized into 4 factors: weight stress, skin aging stress, body dissatisfaction, and hair stress. Sociocultural attitudes toward appearance was related to the sub-variables of narcissism, and body stress. Media appearance internalization is the sun-variable of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and has significant effects on weight stress, skin aging stress, and body dissatisfaction sub-variables for body stress. Ostentation, and superiority being the sub-variables of narcissism, have significant effects on weight stress, skin aging stress, body dissatisfaction, and hair stress, the sub-variables for body stress. Ages of women display distinctions between the sub-variables in sociocultural attitudes toward appearance such media appearance internalization, and in narcissism such leadership/privilege, ostentation, superiority, and body stress such weight stress, skin aging stress, body dissatisfaction, and hair stress. This result can be a necessary base line data for adult women's appearance management by examining the influence of the attitude toward the appearance developed from the relationship with people around body stress.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of stress and meridian muscle electrography in Korean adult males. Methods : Sixty-nine volunteers suffering from stress participated in this study. Physical examination, stress survey and meridian muscle electrography were performed. Each variable was compared with each other by correlation analysis. Results : Correlation between stress response inventory and fatigue of trapezius muscle right upper portion was statistically significant. In relationship between sub scales of stress response inventory and meridian muscle electrography, fatigue of trapezius muscle right upper portion was statistically significant with tension, depression, and frustration. Contraction power of left sternocleidomastoid muscle was significant with somatization and others were not significant. Conclusions : In Korean adult males, trapezius muscle shows more fatigue under more stress. This suggests that stress influences muscle fatigue. Although meridian muscle electrography is not a typical method for the evaluation of pain nor stress, this is referential method to clinical evaluation of painful shoulder caused stress.

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate the population pharmacokinetics of clarithromycin in healthy adult Korean and to investigate the factors influencing the pharmacokinetics of clarithromycin. The population pharmacokinetic parameters of clarithromycin were calculated with the data from healthy adult Koreans. A total of 798 plasma concentrations obtained from 78 subjects after administration of a single oral dose of 250 mg or 500 mg were used for the modeling. The concentration-time data were fitted to a one-compartment open model assuming a first-order absorption and elimination with no lag time. The correlations between various factors [such as sex, age, height, weight, sect creatinine (Scr) and dose and pharmacokinetic parameters were estimated with stepwise linear recession analyses. The selected covariates were incorporated in the population model of NONMEM, and the importance of each covariate was investigated by means of backwards elimination. The apparent clearance (CL/F) was significantly correlated to Scr and sex, and the apparent volume of distribution (Vd/F) was significantly correlated to Scr and height in a nonlinear relationship. The population values of Ka was 1.8 h $r_{-1}$, CL/F was 37.71 L/hr, Vd/F was 200 L and t/ sub 1/2 / was 3.68 hrs for a male Korean with 170 m height and 1.0 mg/dL Scr.

  • Purposes: This study examined uncertainty and nursing need according to illness phases(phase I, II, III) in cancer patients, and investigated relationships between uncertainty and nursing need. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 121 adult cancer patients treated in two hospitals. Results: As for the total score, the uncertainty was not significantly different across the subgroups by illness phase. As for the subscale score, however, two sub-scales of the uncertainty were different across the subgroups. 'The unpredictability' was highest in illness phase I and II groups, while 'the lack of information' was highest in the illness phase III group. Nursing need as the total score was not significantly different across the subgroups by illness phase. However, all subscale scores of the nursing need were significantly different across the subgroups. Educational need was highest in the illness phase I group; physical and emotional needs were highest in the illness phase III group. Uncertainty and nursing need were not related to each other at any illness phase. Conclusion: The results suggest that nursing need and uncertainty may change across illness phases. Clinicians need to consider this pattern in caring for cancer patients.
