This research is designed to identify factors that affect life satisfaction of the Korean elderly by studying residential environments and individual personalities as independent variables, and life satisfaction of the elderly as a dependent variable. It also includes emotional and instrumental support to describe relations between variables as mediating variables. It utilizes a questionnaire survey as its research method and studies those aged 65 and over living in urban, suburban and rural areas. In addition, regression and path analysis is used to identify casual links between different variables. The results are as follows: (1) Direct factors that impact emotional support are home ownership (direct effect= -.18) and transportation services (.15). That is, those who own their home and have easy access to public transpiration show increased levels of emotional support. (2) Direct factors that affect instrumental support are economic status (direct effect= .311) and living arrangement (.17). In other words, those who are financially stable and live with their children have more instrumental support. (3) Factors linked directly to life satisfaction of the elderly are their age (direct effect= -.10), health status (.19), economic status (.25), region of living (.22) and housing type (.19). (4) Among the mediating variables, emotional support has direct effect (.45) while instrumental support has indirect effect (.16).

Background: The volume of surgery has been examined as a major source of variation in outcome after surgery. This study investigated the direct effect of surgery volume to in hospitals mortality and the moderating effect of structural complexity-the level of diversity and sophistication of technology a hospital applied in patient care-to the volume outcome relationship. Methods: Discharge summary data of 11,827 cancer patients who underwent surgery and were discharged during a month period in 2010 and 2011 were analyzed. The analytic model included the independent variables such as surgery volume of a hospital, structural complexity measured by the number of diagnosis a hospital examined, and their interaction term. This study used a hierarchical logistic regression model to test for an association between hospital complexity and mortality rates and to test for the moderating effect in the volume outcome relationship. Results: As structural complexity increased the probability of in-hospital mortality after cancer surgery reduced. The interaction term between surgery volume and structural complexity was also statistically significant. The interaction effect was the strongest among the patients group who had surgery in low volume hospitals. Conclusion: The structural complexity and volume of surgery should be considered simultaneously in studying volume outcome relationship and in developing policies that aim to reduce mortality after cancer surgery.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to empirically verify the structural relationship between public library service-scape, flow, user satisfaction, and customer loyalty for adults who use public libraries for academic purposes in a changing public library environment. To this end, this study reviewed the concepts of public library service-scape, immersion, user satisfaction, and customer loyalty with existing literature, proposed a research model based on this, and empirically verified them. Methods: This study collected and statistically analyzed data for adults using public libraries for the purpose of reading books or studying. The collected data were checked using SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 and the research hypothesis was verified by analyzing the results using the structural equation modeling technique. Results: The results of the study are as follows. First, spatiality, aesthetics, and amenity of service-scapes have a positive effect on flow. Second, spatiality and amenity of service-scapes have a positive effect on user satisfaction. Third, Flow has a positive effect on user satisfaction. Fourth, Flow and user satisfaction have a positive effect on customer loyalty. Conclusion: This study is meaningful in that it suggests a strategic direction to enhance the service competitiveness of public libraries by strengthening the service-scape.

The paper presents a finite element model for studying timber-concrete composite beams under long-term loading. Both deformability of connection system and rheological behaviour of concrete, timber and connection are fully considered. The creep of component materials and the influence of moisture content on the creep of timber and connection, the so-called "mechano-sorptive" effect, are evaluated by means of accurate linear models. The solution is obtained by applying an effective step-by-step procedure in time, which does not require storing the whole stress history in some points in order to account for the creep behaviour. Hence the proposed method is suitable for analyses of composite beams subjected to complex loading and thermo-hygrometric histories. The possibility to accurately predict the long-term response is then shown by comparing numerical and experimental results for different tests.

The effect of austempering treatment on the dynamic properties of a brake drum was investigated to primarily evaluate the potential damping advantage of an AGI (austempered gray iron) drum over a PGI (pearlitic gray iron) drum. This investigation provides valuable information for brake noise reduction since the brake drum is most often the outstanding component that generates the noise of the brake assembly. Test results show that the AGI drum provided slightly larger damping values than the PGI drum for the first few major resonances observed. A finite element model of a drum was also developed to aid in studying its dynamic behavior. A good correlation was obtained between the analytical results and the actual measurement data.

The repairing technique of surface wrapping concrete structural members using fiber composite sheet have been widely used. The research efforts have been limited to studying relative strength increase of repaired concrete structures rather than ductility improvement based on composite material effect and the interface effect between composite and concrete. The compression tests of CFS(carbon fiber sheet) reinforced concrete specimens with various cross-sectional shapes and laminate angles have been peformed. FEM algorithm considering various parameters will be performed based on the obtained data. The results will be discussed in detail.

경로분석은 변수 사이의 관계를 규명하는 방법으로 회귀분석에서 파악하기 어려운 직접효과와 간접효과, 의사효과를 파악할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 골프경기에서 가장 중요한 경기력 요소를 이용하여 평균타수에 어떻게 직접, 간접적으로 영향을 미치는가를 경로분석을 통하여 연구하였으며 자료는 2010년 남자프로골프선수 상위권 186명을 이용하였다.

In this study a newly designed electro-osmotic micro-mixer is proposed. This study is composed of a channel and metal electrodes attached locally on the side wall surface ultimately to control the mixing effect. To obtain the flow patterns, numerical computation was performed by using a commercial code, CFD-ACE. The fluid-flow solutions are the cast into studying the characteristics of stirring in terms of the mixing index. It was shown that the local control of the electric potential can indeed contribute to the enhancement of mixing effect.

This investigation was undertaken for the purpose of studying the effect of the addition of the powder(0, 1, 2, 3%)from fruit of paper mulberry(Broussonetia Kazinoki SieboId) on the hardness, cohesiveness, elasticity, gumminess, chewiness, cooking loss and sensory characteristics of cooked ground beef with or without soysauce. The results obtained were summerized as follows; Hardness, gumminess, chewiness, and cooking loss were decreased by increasing the percent of adding the powder from the fruit of paper mulberry. As a result of sensory evaluation for cooked ground beef, sample with powder from the fruit of paper mulberry showed the higher scores in most of the characteristics. And cooked ground beef added the powder from the fruit of paper mulberry with soysauce showed the higher decreasing rate of hardness than those of without soysauce.
