  • The purpose of this study is to find out the plan type of traditional folk housing in Jeoun-Nam Province. The building time of these houses is mainly from early 19C to early 20C and about 1,000 houses have been investigated. The conclusion of this research is 1. Small house is composed of kitchen, one or two rooms and Marae(the place of storage and sacrificial rite). Big house has one more room and one more storage in comparison with the small house. Marae and Jeoungjibang(a room which is in front of kitchen) are characteristic rooms of folk house in Jeoun-Nam Province. 2. The plan type varies in Jeoun-Nam Province. '-'type is a main type of layout and it is arranged a kitchen, a big room, a Marae and a small room in order. In the big house, jeoungjibang(the third room) is added. 3. In the southwestern Island area, no room is arranged beside Marae. Marae has characteristic confucian order because it is the place of sacrificial rite. Therefore there is a great difference in comparison with other area. 4. In the mountain area such as Gurae, there are some houses which have two rooms arranged up and down in one side; that is, upside is Marae and downside is small room. This type is called Kyump Jip.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the trend of the room where activities of daily living and family events(activities of non-daily living) were performed with time. Research data was collected in 1992 and 2002 from households living in Seoul that have university student by using questionnaire surveys. Data was analyzed using the SPSS package program. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Living room was a multi-purpose space for various activities: receiving guests, family communication, ironing, sewing and dining as well as a kitchen. Anbang(master bed room) is the place where the couple sleeps. The room's purpose has changed from a multi-purpose space to a private space. 2) Most of the families performed the majority of the family events in the living room and Anbang. In the past, traditional events and birthday parties were performed in Anbang, but currently the trend has changed. This would mean that with time the majority of the family events were held in the living room. 3) Space planning is required to meet the dwellers' use of living room and Anbang.

  • CFD simulation is a very useful tool to predict the concentration of contaminant generated from the building materials in a single room. However, there is a limitation on analyzing air movement and contaminant concentration in a multi-room when the door of each room is closed. In this study, network based simulation was coupled with contaminant simulation for the multi-room condition, using an network simulation tool 'ESP-r'. The coupled simulation was first validated with experimental measurements which performed to define the characteristics of the analyzed space prior to the simulation, and indoor air flow and contaminant concentration between rooms were then analyzed when the door of each room was open and closed in the case of natural and forced ventilation.

  • This study is to develop the well-fit clean room smocks by wearing test of 2 available clean room smocks and a revised smock. 20 female subjects individually participated in the wearing test. The test procedure consisted of a rating on fit and adaptability and comparative test according to clean room smock types. The summaries of results are as follows : 1. The results of fit and adaptability rating on different clean room smocks showed that the revised type proved the most effective from a viewpoint of fitness and adaptability, 2. As far as the result of comparative test are concerned, most of the subject assessed the revised type is the most comfortable. As for freedom of movement, it is disclosed that the subjects prefer the revised type too.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest sizing chart for a clean room wear. 3 control dimensions(Stature, Bust girth, B.N.P.∼Wrist point length) were chosen as 3 axes of clean room wear size chart. A loss function was used to determined intervals of stature, Bust girth and B.N.P.∼Wrist point length of size chart, because the loss function introduces the concept of frequency to size chart for better customer's size satisfaction. From the size table whose intervals had been determined by a loss function. The 4 sizes individually were suggested for clean room wear size chart by sex. The 3 sizes individually were suggested for clean room head cover size chart by sex too. The suggested size chart would be considered more feasible than present size chart. Also they are suggested supply reference measurement chart relevant to clean room wear manufacturing for 13 most frequent sizes.

  • In this paper, we consider a service system with bi-functional servers, which can switch between the primary service room and the secondary room. A service policy is characterized by the switching paints which depend on the queue length in the primary service room and the service level requirement constraint of the secondary room. The primary service room is modeled as a Markovian queueing system and the throughput of the primary service room is function of the total number of bi-functional servers. the buffer capacity of the primary service room, and the service policy. There is a revenue obtained from throughput and costs due to servers and buffers. We study the problem of simuitaneously determining the optimal number of servers, buffer capacity, and service policy to maximize profit of the service system, and develop an algorithm which can be successfully applied with the small number of computations.

  • A underground room fire was simulated to investigate the effects of smoke exhaust on temperature visibility, soot etc. in the room. A room of $6m{\times}6m{\times}2.5m$ with a door of $0.9{\times}2.0m$ and a 0.5MW polystyrene fire in the room were considered. Temperature, visibility, CO volume fraction and soot were compared for the exhaust velocity at a vent located at the ceiling, 0, 1.2, and 2.4m/s, respectively. Results showed that increasing exhaust velocity decreased room temperature, CO and soot and increased visibility.

  • In a room air conditioning cooling system, if the room-sensible-heat-factor as plotted on a Psychrometric Chart intersects the saturation curve below the apparatus leaving air dewpoint, reheat must be used to maintain the design room air conditions. However, if the design room humidity is permitted to be raised to some degree, the cooling system will not require reheat as a new room-sensible-heat-factor line is developed between the apparatus leaving air dew-Point and the adjusted design room air conddition point. The advantages to this are the cost of reheat equipment and operation can be avoided. The cycle of this system can be shown on a Psychrometric Chart to plot the design condition points.

  • The subject specialization room will be able to support university library users who are inclined to use the general reading room. This study is the research of the area planning for university library's subject specialization room. For the evaluation, 431 users from 15 university libraries in 14 universities located across Seoul were surveyed. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. Frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, f-test were used. Results of the study are as follow. Subject specialization rooms in university libraries can be classified via the analysis of spatial characteristics. According to the area ratio of data space and reading space in a subject specialization room, the subject room can be separated into data-loaning and data-reading types. Old libraries are more likely to be data-loaning types, where reading room is small and there are a lot of bookshelves. The annual increase in library collections causes space for bookshelves to decrease. As a result, space for reading has been gradually transformed into space for stacking data. It is necessary to introduce ways to maintain enough space for both reading and stacking data. One way includes movable compact shelving, which can partially replace existing fixed shelves.
