In this paper, steel reinforced concrete(SRC) column and composite beam connections were statically tested under gravity loading. The composite beam consists of H-section and U-section members. Five full-scaled specimens were designed to investigate the effect of a number of parameters on behavior of connections such as H-section size, the presence of stud connector, the presence of stiffeners and top bars. In addition, structural performance of welded joint between the H-section and the U-section members is mainly discussed, with an emphasis on initial stiffness, strength, deformation capacity.

In SPS system, steel beams are used as not only temporary struts supporting the wale but main flexural members of building. Previous experimental works show that RC wale-steel beam joints have some flexural rigidity. In this paper, nonlinear analysis is performed using DRAIN-2DX program to investigate the behaviors of the underground composite frames constructed with SPS system when the rigidity of RC wale-steel beam joints change. Analysis variables are the procedure of construction, magnitude of lateral forces, and flexural rigidity of the RC wale-steel beam joint with stud connector. Analysis results show the effects of joint rigidity for the yielding process of frame and the moment and deflection at the mid-span of beam.
The connection of the slab with the steel beam and thus, the transmission of shear force at the interface of the steel-concrete composite beams is achieved with shear connectors, in general, with shear studs. The composite action through these shear studs has a significant influence on the load carrying behavior of the composite beams. The load carrying capacity of studs is determined through push-out tests. At present, the transferability of this load carrying capacity of studs to composite beams, especially in cases of partial interaction, is being questioned by experimental and theoretical investigations. In this study, a finite element model for the simulation of the behavior of the standard push-out specimen and the composite beams without the implementation of the load-slip curve of the stud connectors from the push-out test is developed. The load carrying behavior of the studs in the composite beams is estimated and compared with the results of the push-out test. The reason for the difference in the load carrying behavior of the studs in the push-out test specimen and in the composite beams is found.
Steel-concrete composite structures have been extensively used in building, bridges, and other civil engineering infrastructure. Shear stud connectors between steel and concrete are essential in composite members to guarantee the effectiveness of their behavior in terms of strength and deformability. This study focuses on investigating the shear stiffness of headed studs embedded in several types of concrete with wide range of compressive strength, and their effects on the elastic behavior of steel-concrete composite girders were evaluated. Firstly, totally 206 monotonic push-out tests from the literature were reviewed to investigate the shear stiffness of headed studs embedded in various types of concrete (NC, HPC, UHPC etc.). Shear stiffness of studs is defined as the secant stiffness of the load-slip curve at 0.5Vu, and a formulation for predicting defined shear stiffness in elastic state was proposed, indicating that the stud diameter and the elastic modulus of steel and concrete are the main factors. And the shear stiffness predicted by the new formula agree well with test results for studs with a diameter ranging from 10 to 30 mm in the concrete with compressive strength ranging from 22.0 to 200.0MPa. Then, the effects of shear stiffness on the elastic behaviors of composite girders with different sizes and under different loading conditions were analyzed, the equations for calculating the stress and deformation of simply supported composite girders considering the influence of connection's shear stiffness were derived under different loading conditions using classical linear partial-interaction theory. As the increasing of shear stiffness, the stress and deflection at the most unfavorable section under partial connected condition tend to be those under full connected condition, but the approaching speed decreases gradually. Finally, the connector's shear stiffness was recommended for fully connection in composite girders with different dimensions under different loading conditions. The findings from present study may provide a reference for the prediction of shear stiffness for headed studs and the elastic design of steel-concrete composite girder.

The objective of this paper is to study the structural behavior of Composite Basement Wall (CBW) according to shear span-to-depth ratio through an experiment and predict the nonlinear behavior of CBW by using ADINA program widely has been being used for FE analysis. Especially, this study focuses on the part of CBW in which the Reinforced Concrete (RC) is under compression stress; At the region of CBW around each floor, RC part stresses by compressive force when lateral press by soil acts on the wall. The contact condition between RC wall and steel (H-Pile) including stud connector is main factor in the analysis since it governs overall structural behavior. In order to understand the structural behavior of CBW whose RC part is under compressive stress, an experimental work and finite element analysis were performed. Main parameter in the test is shear span-to-depth ratio. For simplicity in analysis, reinforcements were not modeled as a seperated element but idealized as smeared to concrete. All elements were modeled to have bi-linear relation of material properties. Three type of contact conditions such as All Generate Option (AGO), Same Element Group Option with Tie(SEGO-T) and Same Element Group Option with Not tie(SEGO-NT) were considered in the analysis. For each analysis, the stress flow and concentration were reviewed and analysis result was compared to test one. From the test result, CBW represented ductile behavior by contribution of steel member even if it had short shear span-to-depth ration which is close to "1". The global composite behavior of CBW whose concrete wall was under compressive stress could be predicted by using contact element in ADINA program. Especially, the modeling by using AGO and SEGO-T showed more close relation on comparing with test result.

Cross sections of steel-plate girder bridges are divided into three cross sections of non-composite, partially composite, and fully composite sections, according to their composite characteristics. The Korean provision for the partially and fully composite sections specifies general usage of the stud of shear connectors, whereas the one for the non-composite section specifies empirical usage of slab anchors. However, the actual behavior of the cross sections of steel-plate girder bridges using slab anchors is close not to the non-composite action, but to the partially composite action. Therefore analytical and experimental studies on partial composites of steel-plate girder bridges using slab anchors are performed in this study. Intial stiffness of the slab anchor is obtained by the experimental study for the first time, and the composite characteristic of simple-span and two-span continuous steel-plate girder bridges is investigated by the finite element analyses for the second time. Based on the obtained initial stiffness, the reduction effect of tensile stresses in the concrete-slab on the intermediate support of the continuous bridge is also considered herein.

After the collapse of the World Trade Center in september 11, 2001 and due to the frequent fire-caused damages of buildings during earthquake attacks, social concerns have been increased for the fire proof of the structural members of buildings. Recently, researches have been conducted to improve the fire resistance for building members not by the traditional ways but by utilizing the fire-resisting characteristics of reinforced concrete and structural characteristics of H-steel. In this paper, laboratory tests were conducted in room temperature to investigate the structural performance of the composite beams, which were developed to improve the fire resistance, comprising with concrete incasement between upper and lower flanges of H steel. From the experimental results, the displacement ductility factors of $6\~8$ were obtained. The difference of flexural behavior ol H steel-partial concrete incased composite beams with various composite details seems to be minor. The amount of longitudinal rebars is the most influential factor for the flexural strength of the composite beams. Therefore, if this type of composite beams are selected for designing a building located in moderate seismic lone, identical beam size could be used in several stories of the building.
Steel frames are increasingly used in commercial buildings. and most steel frames are designed to achieve composite action with the concrete floor slab. The advantages of 'composite construction' are now well understood in terms of structural economy. good performance in service. and ease of construction. But. these conventional composite construction system are difficult to apply steel framed apartment due to their large depth. So. in this study we developed Semi Slim Floor system which could reduce the overall depth of composite beam. Semi Slim Floor system is a method of steel frame multi-story building construction in which the structural depth of each floor is minimised by incorporating the steel floor beams within the depth of the concrete floor slab. Twelve composite slab specimens with different deck-type. slab width. with or without stud bault and concrete topping thickness were tested to evaluate the flexural capacity.

The horizontal shear capacity when the flange of a steel girder is replaced with 80 MPa concrete is important for its structural safety. In this study, 6 specimens with different interface conditions were designed and fabricated based on the Limit State Design Code on Korean Highway Bridges and static tests were performed to measure the horizontal shear capacity. Not only the resistance factors of the stud shear connector, concrete and reinforcement, but also the surface conditions of the casing concrete and spacing of the horizontal shear reinforcements were used as the experimental variables. The experiments showed that the interfaces between the steel girder and the concrete flange have stronger joint performance than those between the concrete flange and deck slab. To ensure the composite action in the plastic zone, the conservative horizontal shear reinforcement is more important than the roughness in the concrete face.
Cable-girder anchorage joint is the critical part of cable-supported bridges. Tensile-plate anchorage (TPA) is one of the most commonly used types of cable-girder anchorage joints in steel girder cable-supported bridges. In recent years, it has been proposed by bridge designers to apply TPA to concrete girder cable-supported bridges to form composite cable-girder anchorage joint (CCGAJ). In this paper, the mechanical performance of CCGAJ under tensile force is studied through experimental and numerical analyses. Firstly, the effects of the external prestressing (EP) and the bearing plate (BP) on the mechanical performance of CCGAJ were investigated through three tests. Then, finite element model was established for parametrical study, and was verified by the experimental results. Then, the effects of shear connector forms, EP, BP, vertical rebar rate, and perforated rebar rate on the tensile capacity of CCGAJ were investigated through numerical analyses. The results show that the tensile capacity of CCGAJ depends on the first row of PR. The failure mode of CCGAJ using headed stud connectors is to form a shear failure surface at the end of the studs while the failure mode using PBLs is similar to the bending of a deep girder. Finally, based on the strut-and-tie model (STM), a calculation method for CCGAJ tensile capacity was proposed, which has a high accuracy and can be used to calculate the tensile capacity of CCGAJ.
