VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) is one of the main components governing the size, performance and power consumption of telecommunication devices. As the devices become much smaller, VCO need to have much smaller size with better characteristics. Buried type passive components of L,C,R were developed previously and the structure of these components are good for minimizing the size of VCO. Our own library of passive components is used in simulation and fabrication of VCO circuit, and surface mounted components like varactor diode are analysed using the measurement circuit designed by ourselves. Two-Dimensional simulation of VCO circuit and local three-Dimensional structure simulation are performed and their relation is obtained. In structure of multi-layered VCO, some components governing the characteristics of VCO are selected and placed on the top of oscillator for the good tuning process. In resonator part, the stripline structure and low loss glass/ceramic material are used to get higher Q value. In our research, a VCO oscillates in the 2.3∼2.36 GHz band is developed.
In order to investigate the structure-activity relationships of the stereoisomers of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, captopril and its derivatives were selected as model compounds. In vitro enzymatic activities of them depend on the symmetry at the asymmetric carbons. Especially, the alanyl carbon should have the S configuration to be biologically active. But the demethylated captopril having the achiral carbon also shows the activity although it is less active than captopril. Seven stereoisomers of captopril and its derivatives were chosen and their acidic and ionic forms were used for molecular dynamics simulations. Four computer simulations were practiced for each model compound in order to obtain the good condition for simulation to explain the experimental structure-activity relationships. From the computer simulation results, relativistic movements of three well-known pharmacophoric sites, carboxylate carbon, carbonyl oxygen, and sulfur atoms, were analyzed. Good results were obtained from the aqueous solution molecular dynamics simulation with ionic forms of model compounds. Active model compounds have the pharmacophoric areas of 6.08 to 6.38 $\AA$$^2$and the similarity in the geometrical data. But inactive ones have the largely deviated values of 4.51 to 4.87 $\AA$$^2$from those of active ones.
It is important to research and understand the physical phenomenon around a semi-submersible offshore structure on waves and currents because the wave run-up and load occurs owing to the waves and currents. In this study, the numerical simulations are performed about flow around a fixed semi-submersible offshore structure. The Modified Marker-density method is adopted in the present computation procedure, this method is one of the various methods to define the free-surface. The present computation results are compared with existing experimental and numerical simulation(VOF method) results. And, the computation results are relatively coincident with the existing results of model test and numerical simulation by VOF method.

This paper describes the design scheme of the three-dimensional structures based on the concept of the cellular automata simulation. The cellular automata simulation is performed according to the local rule. In this paper, the local rule is derived in the mathematical formulation from the optimization problem. The cell density is taken as the design variable. Two objective functions are defined for reducing the total weight of the structure and obtaining the fully stressed structure. The constraint condition is defined for defining the local rule. The penalty function is defined from the objective functions and the constraint condition. Minimization of the penalty function with respect to the design parameter leads to the local rule. The derived rule is applied to the design of the three-dimensional structure first. The final structure can be obtained successfully. However, the computational cost is expensive. So, in order to reduce the computational cost, the material parameters $c_1$ and $c_2$ and the value of the cell rejection criterion (CRC) are changed. The results show that the computational cost depends on the parameters and the CRC value.
This research investigates the adaptive input estimation method applied to the multilayer shearing stress structure. This method is to estimate the values of wind load inputs by analyzing the active reaction of the system. The Kalman filter without the input term and the adaptive weighted recursive least square estimator are two main portions of this method. The innovation vector can be produced by the Kalman filter, and be applied to the adaptive weighted recursive least square estimator to estimate the wind load input over time. This combined method can effectively estimate the wind loads to the structure system to enhance the reliability of the system active performance analysis. The forms of the simulated inputs (loads) in this paper include the periodic sinusoidal wave, the decaying exponent, the random combination of the sinusoidal wave and the decaying exponent, etc. The active reaction computed plus the simulation error is regard as the simulated measurement and is applied to the input estimation algorithm to implement the numerical simulation of the inverse input estimation process. The availability and the precision of the input estimation method proposed in this research can be verified by comparing the actual value and the one obtained by numerical simulation.
This work presents a safety assessment of an underground tunnel subjected to a ballistic missile attack employing the numerical approach. For the impact simulation, a box shaped reinforced concrete (RC) structure with a cross section dimension of 8.0×10.0 m under a soil layer that was attacked by a SCUD missile was modeled using finite element (FE) software LS-DYNA. SCUD missile is one of a series of tactical ballistic missiles developed by Soviet Union during the Cold War, which is adopted for a short-range ballistic missile. The developed FE simulation for the penetration depth of the missile impacting into the soil structure was verified from the well-known formula of the penetration prediction. The soil-structure interaction, the soil type, and the impact missile velocity effects on the penetration depth of the missile into the different soil types were investigated. The safety assessment of the underground tunnel was performed with regard to the different depths of the underground tunnel. For each missile velocity and soil type, a specific depth called the unsafe depth was obtained from the analysis results. The structure beneath the soil beyond this depth remains safe. The unsafe depth was found to be increased with the increasing missile velocity.
Flexible structures are often important components of mechanical assemblies in motion. A flexible structure sometimes must go through assembly steps that cause it to be in a pre-stressed condition when in the starting position for operation. A virtual prototype of the assembly must also bring the model of the flexible structure into the same pre-stressed condition in order to obtain accurate simulation results. This case study is presented regarding the simulation of a constant velocity joint, with a focus on the flexible boot. The case study demonstrates that careful definition of the initial conditions of the boot and flexible body contacts yields high-fidelity simulation results.
It is necessary to develop highly sophisticated Modeling & Simulation (M&S) system for the scientific investigation of marine accident causes and for the systematic reproduction of accidental damage procedure. To ensure an accurate and reasonable prediction of marine accidental causes, such as collision, grounding and flooding, full-scale ship M&S simulations would be the best approach using hydrocode, such as LS-DYNA code, with its Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) analysis technique. The objectivity of this paper is to present three full-scale ship collision, grounding and flooding simulation results of marine accidents, and to show the possibility of the scientific investigation of marine accident causes using highly sophisticated M&S system.
Various adaptive mesh refinement techniques are often employed in numerical simulations for increasing spatial and temporal resolution beyond the limits imposed by available CPU time and memory space. Recently, an octree-based adaptive mesh structure was successfully used in fluid animation to place more grid cells efficiently in visually interesting regions of fluids. In an attempt to optimize the use of computational resources further in fluid animation, this paper extends this adaptive technique by modifying the mesh refinement scheme so that the camera's viewing properties are dynamically exploited during the simulation. Based on a simple adaptive mesh structure, we show that the new meshing strategy can save a substantial amount of computation time and memory space by using a view-dependent adaptive approach. The experimental results reveal that the proposed technique provides a good compromise between the computational effort and the simulation's fidelity, and may be used quite effectively in 3D animation production.
