  • High resolution 2.1” QVGA LTPS LCD (190ppi) having high aperture ratio of 65% could be successfully developed using state-of-the-art SLS technology and active/gate storage structure. Cost effective P-MOS 6-Mask structure was used. Full gate and transmission gate circuits are integrated in the panel. The high aperture ratio was obtained by using active/gate capacitance structure, which can reduce storage capacitance area. The aperture ratio was increased to 65% from 49% of conventional gate/data capacitance structure. The brightness was increased from 180cd to 270cd without any degradation of optical properties such as contrast ratio, flicker or crosstalk.

Review of Aging Management for Concrete Silo Dry Storage Systems

  • The Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) operates an on-site spent fuel dry storage facility using concrete silo and vertical module systems. This facility must be safely maintained until the spent nuclear fuel (SNF) is transferred to an external interim or final disposal facility, aligning with national policies on spent nuclear fuel management. The concrete silo system, operational since 1992, requires an aging management review for its long-term operation and potential license renewal. This involves comparing aging management programs of different dry storage systems against the U.S. NRC's guidelines for license renewal of spent nuclear fuel dry storage facilities and the U.S. DOE's program for long-term storage. Based on this comparison, a specific aging management program for the silo system was developed. Furthermore, the facility's current practices-periodic checks of surface dose rate, contamination, weld integrity, leakage, surface and groundwater, cumulative dose, and concrete structure-were evaluated for their suitability in managing the silo system's aging. Based on this review, several improvements were proposed.

산불이 임지(林地)의 수저류(水貯留) 특성(特性)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Forest Fire on the Water Storage Characteristics of Forest Land)

  • 본 연구는 산불 발생이 임지의 수저류 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 실시했다. 비산불 지역과 산화적지를 대상으로 산림토양의 수저류능을 토양공극, 최대수분량, 이용가능수량, 그리고 투수율을 측정하여 비교 분석하였다. 주요 인자들의 측정에 의해서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 산화적지와 대조구에서 토성이 깊어질수록 전공극(全孔隙), 조공극(組孔隙), 이용가능 수량, 투수율은 모두 감소하는 경향을 나타내고, 세공극(細孔隙)은 약간 증가하는 경향이 있었다. 대조구에 비해 산화적지에서는 투수율, 조공극량 및 이용가능수량이 낮게 나타나는 반면, 세공극량은 높게 나타났다. 그리고 산불이 발생한 직후에는 산림토양의 공극량 분포에 큰 변화가 일어나지 않지만, 시간이 경과함에 따라 산화적지의 표토 공극분포에 변화를 일으키면서 서서히 토심 20-40cm까지 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 토심변화에 따른 이용가능수량의 변화는 대조구에 비해 산화적지에서 상대적으로 큰 폭으로 감소하는 경향이 있었다. 이 결과로 산림의 수저류능은 산불에 의해 크게 영향을 받는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Electronic structure and magnetism of catalytic material Pt3Ni surfaces: Density-functional study

  • A Pt-skin $Pt_3Ni$(111) surface was reported to show high catalytic activity. In this study, we investigated the magnetic properties and electronic structures of the various oriented surfaces of bulk-terminated and Pt-segregated $Pt_3Ni$ by using a first-principles calculation method. The magnetic moments of Pt and Ni are appreciably enhanced at the bulk-terminated surfaces compared to the corresponding bulk values, whereas the magnetic moment of Pt on the Pt-segregated $Pt_3Ni$(111) surface is just slightly enhanced because of the reduced number of Ni neighboring atoms. Spin-decomposed density of states shows that the dz2 orbital plays a dominant role in determining the magnetic moments of Pt atoms in the different orientations. The lowering of the d-band center energy (-2.22 eV to -2.46 eV to -2.51 eV to -2.65 eV) in the sequence of bulk-terminated (100), (110), (111), and Pt-segregated (111) may explain the observed dependence of catalytic activity on surface orientation. Our d-band center calculation suggests that an observed enhanced catalytic activity of a $Pt_3Ni$(111) surface originates from the Pt-segregation.

변성전분이 동결 어묵의 미세구조와 관능적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Modified Starch on Microstructure and Sensory Characteristics of Fish Cake)

  • To confirm the influence of modified starch on frozen storage stability, the microstructure and sensory characteristics of fish cakes, called Eomuk in Korea, by using seven varieties of starch, including native starch (NS), physically treated corn starch (MS) and modified starch [treatment with acetate (SA-1, SA-2 and SA-3), hydroxypropyl (HS), and acetylated distarch adipate (ADA)] were evaluated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) photographs showed fish cakes with NS had a finer and denser network structure than those made with modified starches. During frozen storage, fish cakes with HS and ADA exhibited a stable structure, as evaluated by porosity and rough surface. The results of the sensory evaluation showed that modified starch, including HS, SA-2 and ADA, increased the taste and firmness of the fish cakes, while NS, MS and the modified starch SA-3 resulted a decrease in the sensory properties during storage. Therefore, HS, SA-2 and ADA are suitable additives to improve the sensory quality of frozen fish cakes.

디지털 홀로그래픽 정보 저장을 위한 새로운 데이터 매트릭스 구조 및 알고리즘 구현 (New Data Matrix Structure and Algorithm Implementation for Digital Holographic Data Storage)

  • 디지털 흘로그래픽 정보 저장을 위한 새로운 데이터 매트릭스 구조와 이 구조를 통해 정보 추출할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제안하고 구현하였다 제안된 데이터 매트릭스 구조는 실제 사용자 정보와 기하학적 변형에 따른 raw BER을 줄이기 위한 참조 격자로 이루어져있고, 정보를 추출하는 알고리즘은 찬조격자의 위치를 판별하고 이 정보로부터 실제 사용자 정보를 추출하는 구조로되어 있다. 실험 결과 영상 이동, 회전, 배율변화에 대해 각각 3.09×10-18, 6.14×10-12, 1.2×10-7 의 평균 raw BER을 얻음으로서, 기하학적 변형에 대한 우수한 검출특성을 갖고 있음이 증명되었다.

Shaking table test of liquid storage tank with finite element analysis considering uplift effect

  • The seismic responses of elevated tanks considering liquid-structure interaction are presented under horizontal earthquake. The scaled model tank is fabricated to study the dynamic responses of anchored tank and newly designed uplift tank with replaced dampers. The natural frequencies for structural mode are obtained by modal analysis. The dynamic responses of tanks are completed by finite element method, which are compared with the results from experiment. The displacement parallel and perpendicular to the excitation direction are both gained as well as structural acceleration. The strain of tank walls and the axial strain of columns are also obtained afterwards. The seismic responses of liquid storage tank can be calculated by the finite element model effectively and the results match well with the one measured by experiment. The aim is to provide a new type of tank system with vertical constraint relaxed which leads to lower stress level. With the liquid volume increasing, the structural fundamental frequency has a great reduction and the one of uplift tank are even smaller. Compared with anchored tank, the displacement of uplift tank is magnified, the strain for tank walls and columns parallel to excitation direction reduces obviously, while the one perpendicular to earthquake direction increases a lot, but the values are still small. The stress level of new tank seems to be more even due to uplift effect. The new type of tank can realize recoverable function by replacing dampers after earthquake.

LNG저장탱크의 지붕 구조물에 관한 최적설계 연구 (Optimized Design of Roof Structure in LNG Storage Tank)

  • 본 논문은 다구찌 설계방법을 이용하여 LNG저장탱크의 지붕 구조물에 대한 최적설계 조건을 확보하기 위해 FEM해석을 수행하였다. 다구찌 설계방법은 저장탱크 구조물의 설계인자에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 파라메터를 고찰하고 최적화하는데 유용한 결과를 제시하였다. 다구찌 설계방법으로 수행된 FEM 해석결과에 따르면, LNG저장탱크 지붕 구조물의 최적설계에 필요한 인자로 지붕 중심부의 두께를 언급하고 있다. 안전하면서 효율적인 지붕을 건설하기 위한 철근 콘크리트 지붕의 초기 구조물 설계는 반경방향의 H빔과 원주방향의 L빔을 가능한 작은 수량으로 배열하고 두꺼운 지붕 구조물을 갖춘 LNG 외부탱크가 최적이라는 해석결과를 제시한다.

  • The new multimedia information environment requires smaller optical data storage systems. However, one of the difficulties encountered in designing small form factor(SFF) optical pick-up is to emit the heat which is generated from laser diode(LD). Heat generated at the LD can reduce the optical performance of the system and the lifetime of LD. Therefore, it is important to include the thermal design in the design stage of SFF optical pick-up system for high performance and the longer lifetime of LD, and furthermore, to analyze the thermal characteristics of LD in detail micro heat transfer analysis is necessary. In the present study, micro heat transfer analysis was performed using the finite element method for the $28{\times}11{\times}2mm^3$ super slim swing-arm type optical pick-up actuator for Blu-ray disk. Two different materials were used for a swing-arm; a double layer polycarbonate/steel structure and a single aluminum structure.

  • 본 논문에서는 광디스크, 디지탈 테이프 등과 같은 제3의 저장 장치의 활용을 높 이기 위하여 다중의 디스크와 CD-ROM으로 구성된 저장구조를 제안하고, 이 구조에서 CD-ROM에 저장된 연속미디어 객체들을 효율적으로 표현하는 메카니즘을 설계한다. 본 논문에서는 제안한 연속미디어 저장 구조는 대역폭이 높은 SCSI 버스를 다중의 디스크 가 공유하여 데이타를 전송함으로써 정보의 검색 능력을 향상시킨다. 그리고 연속미디 어 표현 메카니즘은 CD-ROM의 연속미디어 객체의 인출과 표현을 병렬로 수행시켜 연속 미디어 표현의 불연속을 감소시킬 뿐만 아니라 자주 참조되는 객체를 디스크에 존재케 함으로써 재참조 요청에 대한 실기율과 서비스 시간의 변화를 최소화한다.
