주파수 도메인의 구조적 유사도를 통한 HEVC 주관적 화질 향상 율-왜곡 최적화 (Improvement of Perceptual Quality of HEVC by Rate Distortion Optimization Using Frequency Domain Structural Similarity)

  • 본 논문에서는 PSNR 을 높이도록 최적화된 HEVC 의 율-왜곡 최적화(RDO)를 MS-SSIM 를 높이도록 하여 RDO 를 수행 하도록 한다. 구현 방법으로는 MS-SSIM 도출 방법과 비슷하도록 원본과 4 단계의 저역 통과 필터(LPF)를 통과한 결과에 대한 DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) 를 수행하고 그 AC 계수의 비율로 lagrange multiplier(${\lambda}$)를 수정하는 방식이다. AC 계수 비율과 MS-SSIM 에서 도출 된 가중치, LPF 특성 등에 따라 새롭게 각 스케일의 가중치를 결정하여 최종적으로 ${\lambda}$ 가중치를 결정하여 그 결과를 바탕으로 RDO 를 수행한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안의 방법과 HEVC reference software 의 BD-rate 계산 결과 7%의 PNSR, -13.2%의 MS-SSIM 를 얻을 수 있었고 이에 따라 주관적 화질을 개선했다고 할 수 있다.

  • MSC as a payload of KOMPSAT-2 is an optical telescope for earth imaging on a sun-synchronous orbit. The MSC is a Ritchey-Chretien type telescope composed of hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors with focal correcting lenses. Their relative positions should be kept aligned during imaging operation. However, the MSC is exposed to adverse thermal environment on orbit which can have some impacts on optical performance as well as structural endurance. Solar incidence can cause non-uniform temperature rise on the tube which entails unfavorable thermal distortion. Three options were proposed, which were internal shield, external mechanical shield and spacecraft maneuvering. After the trade-off studies, internal sun shield was selected as a realistic and optimal solution to minimize the effect of the solar radiation. In this paper, pros and cons are explained for the three possible choices and a design of the internal shield is discussed.

  • 반자성 반도체인 MnxCd1-xGa2Se4의 단결정을 조성비 ( $0leq$ $X \leq$ 1) 영역에서 TVTP(time-varying temperature profile)에 의한 화학수송법으로 성장하였다. 성장된 단결정 은 자연면을 갖은 경면으로 성장되었으며, X = 1.0 경우인 단결정의 크기는 12 $\times$ 6 $\times$ 1.5mm3이었다. MnxCd1-xGa2Se4의 결정구조는 defect chalcopyrite 구조이었으며, 조성비 X 가 증가함에 따라 격자상수 a는 선형적으로 감소하고, 격자상수 c는 증가하였다. 또한 distortion factor 2-(c/a)는 감소하였다.

레이저 점 용접의 응용 (Application of laser spot welding)

  • Laser spot welding offers a unique combination of high speed. precision and low heat distortion, compared with conventional resistance spot welding. This combinatin of advantages is especially attractive for the automotive industry. Until now automobile fabrication is widely used resistance spot welding, however, because of geometric and structural problem, spot welding is required many welding machine in that reason by substituting spot welding with laser welding, it save the equipment cost. In the present study we measured ultimate strength and observed bead cross section of laser welded specimen and compared with that of the resistance spot welding results in order to adapt laser welding in automobile industry. Also for strength esti- mation we calculated the residual stress of laser welded zone. All calculations are performed with the ABAQUS code on a workstation.

Benchmark tests of MITC triangular shell elements

  • In this paper, we compare and assess the performance of the standard 3- and 6-node MITC shell elements (Lee and Bathe 2004) with the recently developed MITC triangular elements (Lee et al. 2014, Jeon et al. 2014, Jun et al. 2018) which were based on the partitions of unity approximation, bubble node, or both. The convergence behavior of the shell elements are measured in well-known benchmark tests; four plane stress tests (mesh distortion test, cantilever beam, Cook's skew beam, and MacNeal beam), two plate tests (Morley's skew plate and circular plate), and six shell tests (curved beam, twisted beam, pinched cylinder, hemispherical shells with or without hole, and Scordelis-Lo roof). To precisely compare and evaluate the solution accuracy of the shell elements, different triangular mesh patterns and distorted element mesh are adopted in the benchmark problems. All shell finite elements considered pass the basic tests; namely, the isotropy, the patch, and the zero energy mode tests.

KTX 시운전시 고속철도 교량의 성능검증 (Performance Verification for High Speed Railway Bridge on Test Operation of KTX)

  • The railway bridges on the new high-speed line are the first structures designed and constructed by our local engineers for high-speed running. In securing running stability and riding comfort in high-speed running, it is very important to verify the performance of structures and local specifications and design criteria by measuring and analyzing the dynamic behavior of main structural members. In this study, 4 different types(simple-span, 2, 3, 4-continuous spans) of PCS Box bridges on the test line(Yongwa$\~$Simok section) were selected, each representing a different type of superstructures, in order to verify the performance of the bridges by measuring dynamic responses during the test-run of KTX. Reviews of the running stability and the riding comfort were carried out with the results of the measurement and the analyses of vibration acceleration, endrotation, distortion and deflection at midspan.

충격하중에 의한 용접구조물의 강도 증가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the strength improvement in weldment by the impact loading)

  • It is well known that during the oxygen cutting process residual thermal stresses are produced in weldment. The local non-uniform heating and subsequent cooling which takes place during any welding process causes complex thermal strains and stresses to finally lead to residual stresses exceed to the yield stress. High tensile stresses combined with applied structural load in the region near the welded joint can given rise to distortion brittle fracture change of the fatigue strength and stress corrosion cracking. The appropriate treatment of the welded component which reduces the peak of he welding residual stresses is believed to lower risk of the fracture during the service of the structure. In this study the impact loading in oxygen cutting frame was applied to reduce the residual stress. After applying the impact loading redistribution of resid-ual stress was measured by cutting method and the effect of fatigue was tested.

The unsymmetric finite element formulation and variational incorrectness

  • The unsymmetric finite element formulation has been proposed recently to improve predictions from distorted finite elements. Studies have also shown that this special formulation using parametric functions for the test functions and metric functions for the trial functions works surprisingly well because the former satisfy the continuity conditions while the latter ensure that the stress representation during finite element computation can retrieve in a best-fit manner, the actual variation of stress in the metric space. However, a question that remained was whether the unsymmetric formulation was variationally correct. Here we determine that it is not, using the simplest possible element to amplify the principles.

Recognition of DNA Damage in Mammals

  • DNA damage by UV and environmental agents are the major cause of genomic instability that needs to be repaired, otherwise it give rise to cancer. Accordingly, mammalian cells operate several DNA repair pathways that are not only responsible for identifying various types of DNA damage but also involved in removing DNA damage. In mammals, nucleotide excision repair (NER) machinery is responsible for most, if not all, of the bulky adducts caused by UV and chemical agents. Although most of the proteins involved in NER pathway have been identified, only recently have we begun to gain some insight into the mechanism by which proteins recognize damaged DNA. Binding of Xeroderma pigmentosum group C protein (XPC)-hHR23B complex to damaged DNA is the initial damage recognition step in NER, which leads to the recruitment of XPA and RPA to form a damage recognition complex. Formation of damage recognition complex not only stabilizes low affinity binding of XPA to the damaged DNA, but also induces structural distortion, both of which are likely necessary for the recruitment of TFIIH and two structure-specific endonucleases for dual incision.

Stereo-PIV/PLIF의 속도장과 농도장 동시측정 기법을 이용한 러쉬톤 교반기내 난류특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Turbulent Characteristics of Rushton Turbine Mixer by Simultaneous Measurement of Velocity and Concentration Field with Stereo-PIV/PLIF Technique)

  • Simultaneous measurement with PLIF(Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence) and Stereo-PIV(Stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry) was performed to investigate the structural characteristics of flow field in Rushton Turbine Mixer. Instantaneous 3D velocity fields are measured by two 2K ${\times}$ 2K CCD cameras focused on an object plane with the angular displacement methods while the concentration fields are obtained through the measurement of the fluorescence intensity of Rhodamine B tracer excited by the second pulse of Nd:Yag laser light. Image distortion due to the camera view-angle is compensated by a mapping function. Finally, the spatial structures of turbulent mixing around Rushton turbine were identified by the calculation of cross-correlation fields between the velocity and concentration field.
