구조변수에 의한 튜브 구조의 거동 (Behaviour of Tube Structures in terms of Structural Parameters)

  • The global behavior of tube structures (including tube and tube(s)-in-tube constructions) is investigated for the behavioral characteristics of the structures and their performance in relation to the various structural parameters. The stiffness factor in terms of the axial stiffness of the columns and the bending stiffness of both columns and beams is chosen as a parameter to explain the global behavior of the structures. The shear-lag phenomenon is also discussed to explain the general behavior of the structures. Three types of tube structures, with various structural parameters, are analysed for the comparative study, and the results are compared to investigate the structural response and performance of such structures. As a result of the comparison it is obtained that the axial stiffness of the columns is the most important factor governing the response of the tube structures under lateral loading

The effect of architectural form on the earthquake behavior of symmetric RC frame systems

  • In this study, structural irregularities in plan, which has a considerable effect on earthquake behavior of buildings, have been investigated in detail based on Turkish Earthquake Code 2007. The study consists of six main parametric models and a total of 144 sub-models that are grouped based on RC structural systems such as frame, frame + rigid core, frame with shear wall, and frame with shear wall + rigid core. All models are designed to have both symmetrical plan geometry and regular rigidity distribution. Changes in the earthquake behavior of buildings were evaluated according to the number of storeys, number of axes and the configuration of structural elements. Many findings are obtained and assessed as a result of the analysis for each structural irregularity. The study shows that structural irregularities can be observed in completely symmetric buildings in terms of plan geometry and rigidity distribution.

엘리베이터 설치 작업용 시스템 비계의 구조 성능 평가 (Structural Performance Evaluation of System Scaffolding for Elevator Installation Work)

  • This study performed a structural performance evaluation of a system scaffolding for elevator installation work developed in previous studies. The structural performance was evaluated via a structural test conducted to apply the working load specified in the design standard. The deflection of the horizontal member and the stress of each member constituting the system scaffolding were measured. Consequently, the structural safety evaluation including structural behavior and required performance was performed using the deflection and stresses measured from the structural test. The structural test and safety evaluation results based on the heavy working load corresponding to the design load indicated that the deflection, which is the performance criterion of the horizontal member, did not exceed the allowable value. Further, each member's stress, which is a safety evaluation indicator, did not exceed the allowable strength for both horizontal and vertical members with bending behavior and fordable bracing with tensile behavior, while also satisfying the required safety factor. In addition, the results confirmed the safety against deformation, partial damage, and destruction owing to excessive and maximum load. Therefore, the system scaffolding developed in this study satisfies both the structural performance and safety required by the design standards; thus, it can be applied to elevator installation work sites.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate structural relationships among engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectation, interest, learning persistence, and career preparation behavior of engineering students. Participants (n=428) completed measures of engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectations, interests, learning persistence, and career preparation behavior. Results from structural equation modeling analysis were found to support the proposed model which included learning persistence and career preparation behavior, influence from engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and interests. In addition, major persistence intention and career preparation behavior of engineering college students are influenced by the direct and indirect effects on engineering self-efficacy, interest, and outcome expectations. The implications of the findings on practice for Korean engineering college students are discussed.

  • To analysis machanical behavior for RC frame under monotonic & Cyclic load, it is needed to investigate elasto-plastic behavior for steel & concrete. Therefore, in this study, we idealized material model(steel and concrete) to take into account elasto-plastic, limit state, and developed structural analysis program that consider complex non-linearity. We investigated simple beam and portal frame under cyclic & monotonic loading, so we confirmed the propriety.

  • To understand an influence of rectangular openings on the structural behavior in reinforced concrete deep beams, results of 52 specimens were analyzed. The structural behavior such as load-deflection relationship, load-maximum crack width relationship, and maximum strength was significantly affected by inclination of concrete strut beneath opening.

  • This paper deals with structural behavior of reinforced concrete beams under fire and fire damaged condition. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of the beams under high temperature condition and to evaluate the remaining strength of flexural members by exposure time to fire. For this purpose, twelve beam specimens are fabricated and experimented. Ten specimens are exposed to the fire for 1 and 2 hours and to the failure. After being cooled in room temperature, the specimens are loaded to the failure. The research result shows that the main variables of the test, concrete cover and exposure time to fire are much influenced on the structural behavior and the remaining strength.

An Empirical Study on the Structural Relationship among Gender Discrimination, Organization Commitment and Organizational Citizenship Behavior in the Korean Shipping Firms

  • The objective of this study is to empirically investigate the effect of gender discrimination to female workers in Korean shipping firms on the their organization commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. In carrying out the objective of this study, two hypotheses about the structural relationship among gender discrimination, organization commitment and organizational citizenship behaviors in the Korean shipping firms are established after reviewing the related studies. Survey questionnaires are distributed and analyzed to test the reliability and validity of the response. Also, a structural equation model is established and the model is analyzed by AMOS. In conclusion, there are a negative effect of gender discrimination on female workers' organizational commitment and a positive effect of their commitment on OCB. Through this paper, the comprehensive understanding of the structural relationship among gender discrimination, organization commitment and organizational citizenship behavior would be promoted.

하이브리드 섬유 보강 시멘트 복합 재료에서 구조용 합성 섬유의 인발 거동에 미치는 폴리비닐 알코올 섬유 혼입률의 효과 (Effect of Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Volume Fraction on Pullout Behavior of Structural Synthetic Fiber in Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Cement Composites)

  • 이 연구에서는 하이브리드 구조용 합성 섬유와 폴리비닐알코올(PVA)섬유 보강 시멘트 복합 재료에 정착된 구조용 합성 섬유의 인발 거동에 미치는 PVA 섬유 혼입률의 효과를 제시하였다. 구조용 합성 섬유와 하이브리드 섬유보강 시멘트 복합 재료와의 인발 거동은 Dog-bone 부착 시험에 의해서 결정하였다. 시험 결과 PVA 섬유의 혼입은 구조용 합성 섬유와 시멘트 복합 재료와의 인발 거동 특히, 섬유 계면인성을 강화하는 효과가 있었다. 구조용 합성 섬유의 인발 시험 결과 구조용 합성 섬유와 시멘트 복합 재료와의 계면인성은 PVA 섬유의 혼입률이 증가할수록 증가하였다. 미세 구조 분석 결과 PVA 섬유의 혼합은 구조용 합성 섬유와 PVA 섬유 보강 시멘트 복합 재료의 계면인성 메커니즘을 강화시키는데 효과적이라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

볼트로 겹침이음된 펄트루젼 복합재 접합부의 구조적 거동 (Structural Behavior of Bolted Lap-Joint Connection in the Pultruded FRP Structural Members)

  • 이 연구에서는 볼트로 겹침이음된 펄트루젼 복합재의 접합부에 대한 구조적 거동을 실험적 연구를 통해 조사하였다. 펄트루젼 복합재 접합부의 구조적 거동 조사에 앞서 재료의 역학적 성질을 파악하기 위해 펄트루젼 복합재의 인장 및 전단실험을 수행하였고, 이를 바탕으로 볼트의 수와 배열을 변수로 3종류의 겹침이음 시편을 제작하였다. 겹침이음 접합부 실험은 접합부를 중심으로 인장하중이 작용하도록 하중을 재하하였고, 하중증가에 따른 접합부의 구조적 거동 및 파괴모드를 조사하였다. 실험결과 접합부에 대한 파괴는 대부분 전단파괴로 나타났으며, 실험을 통해 얻어진 데이터를 분석하여 설계를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있도록 하였다.
