  • One of the main objectives of the study is to propose a pratical and realistic reliability analysis by ETCM(Expected Total Cost Minimization). This study is intended to propose the safety assesment and capacity rating of existing reinforced concrete members by evaluating the safety evaluation index, that is RF(Rating Factor) from the results of the field test and inspection for 5 reinforced concrete bridges. ETCM method is used for the reliability analysis of the proposed models. The proposed reliability model and method are applied the safety assesment and system factors of reinforced concrete members.

  • This Paper presents the response force distribution factor(RDF) and its application to recalculation of member forces in case of partial changes of structures. Using RDF, the mutuality of response forces between members can be estimated. The reanalysis technique recalculates directly any displacement or member force under consideration in real time without a full reanalysis in spite of local changes in member stiffness or connectivity using RDF. It is expected that RDF and the reanalysis technique can be used to develop efficient analysis techniques for tall buildings.

  • The precast concrete column-beam structure, Green Frame, allows the main structural members such as precast concrete column and beam to be produced on the site, resulting in a reduction of transportation cost and the margin of plant. However, existing plywood from for in-situ production of precast concrete members has problems like putting in inordinate human resource, falling-off in quality and workability. To solve those problems, form system for in-situ production of precast concrete members shall be developed. In this regard, this study aims to analyze the structural concept of from system for in-situ production. The result of this study will use for development of form system for in-situ production.

  • In the past, physical models have been proposed, in compliance with the concept of the compressive-force path, for the realistic design of various statically determinate structural concrete members. The present work extends these models so as to encompass indeterminate RC structural forms. Pilot tests conducted on continuous beams and fixed-ended portal frames have revealed that designing such members to present-day concepts may lead to brittle types of failure. On the other hand, similar members designed on the basis of the proposed physical models attained very ductile failures. It appears that, unlike current design approaches, the compressive-force path concept is capable of identifying those areas where failure is most likely to be triggered, and ensures better load redistribution, thus improving ductility. The beneficial effect of proper detailing at the point of contraflexure in an indeterminate RC member is to be noted.

  • Widespread propagation of failure can be triggered by localized damage to a structure because of fires, impact and explosion etc. In this paper, the progressive collapse analysis program is developed to automatically check the failed members and construct the modified structural model at each step. OpenSees, that is widely used in many research groups, was used for the developed progressive collapse analysis control program. The control program developed in this study automatically computes the damage indices of all the structural members and performance a progressive collapse analysis after the first failed member is selected. Using the developed program, we compared the progressive collapse behaviors of the example structures considering dynamic effects or not, and the difference of progressive collapse mechanism according to the modeling method of the failed members.

  • This paper focuses on the regularization of structural configurations by employing meta-heuristic optimization algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Biogeography-Based Optimization (BBO). The regularization of structural configuration means obtaining a structure whose members have equal or almost equal lengths, or whose member's lengths are based on a specific pattern; which in this case, by changing the length of these elements and reducing the number of different profiles of needed members, the construction of the considered structure can be made easier. In this article, two different objective functions have been used to minimize the difference between member lengths with a specific pattern. It is found that by using a small number of iterations in these optimization methods, a structure made of equal-length members can be obtained.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the structural safety of cultural altar since its bearing capacity has been questioned due to weathering damages and sectional defections. This evaluation process consists two stages; which the first is field investigation and the second is structural modeling and analysis. Based on field investigation, all of the structural members supporting the altar were carefully examined and all the findings were accounted for the development of the structural modeling using the Midas computer program. Using a 3D scanner, the weight of the Buddha statue was applied to the structural modeling. Then, according to the allowable stress design method of KBC2016, the structural safety was evaluated. Based on this result, replacements of several structural members were recommended to increase the structural safety and value of cultural property.

  • It is necessary to guarantee the safety, serviceability and durability of reinforced concrete structures over their service life. However, concrete structures represent a decrease in their durability due to the effects of external environments according to the passage of time, and such degradation in durability can cause structural degradation in materials. In concrete structures, some degradations in durability increase the corrosion of embedded rebars and also decrease the structural performance of materials. Thus, the structural condition assessment of RC materials damaged by corrosion of rebars becomes an important factor that judges needs to apply restoration. In order to detect the damage of reinforced concrete structures, a visual inspection, a nondestructive evaluation method(NDE) and a specific loading test have been employed. However, obscurities for visual inspection and inaccessible members raise difficulty in evaluating structure condition. For these reasons, detection of location and quantification of the damage in structures via structural response have been one of the very important topics in system identification research. The main objective of this project is to develope a methodologies for the damage identification via static responses of the members damaged by durability. Six reinforced concrete beams with variables of corrosion position and corrosion width were fabricated and the damage detections of corroded RC beams were performed by the optimization and the conjugate beam methods using static deflection. In results it is proved that the conjugate beam method could predict the damage of RC members practically.
