마사지 및 정적 스트레칭이 20대 정상 성인의 경부 관절가동범위에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Massage and Static Stretching on Cervical Range of Motion in Their 20s of Normal Adult)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 20대의 정상 성인에서 경부의 관절가동범위와 마사지 및 정적 스트레칭이 관절가동범위에 미치는 영향을 측정하는 것이다. 근골격계와 신경계의 질환이 없는 100명(마사지그룹=50, 스트레칭그룹=50)을 대상으로 실시하였다. 마사지와 정적 스트레칭은 흉쇄유돌근, 사각근, 승모근, 반극근, 판상근, 후두하근, 다열근과 회선근에 적용되었다. 두 그룹은 주 3회의 중재를 받았다. 중재 시간은 10분이었다. 마사지그룹은 경찰법, 유날법 및 스트라이핑 마사지가 사용되었고, 스트레칭그룹은 정적 스트레칭이 사용되었다. 경부의 가동범위 측정도구는 경부의 8가지 동작(후두하 굽힘과 폄, 경부의 굽힘과 폄, 왼쪽 옆굽힘과 오른쪽 옆굽힘, 왼쪽 돌림과 오른쪽 돌림)을 분석하기 위하여 사용되었다. 통계학적 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정상적인 경부의 관절가동범위는 남자에서 후두하굽힘과 폄이 $2.39^{\circ}$38.36^{\circ}$, 경부의 굽힘과 폄이 $54.11^{\circ}$69.39^{\circ}$, 왼쪽과 오른쪽의 옆굽힘이 $43.50^{\circ}$$41.28^{\circ}$, 왼쪽과 오른쪽의 돌림이 $66.39^{\circ}$$65.94^{\circ}$로 나타났고, 여자에서는 후두하 굽힘과 폄이 $5.14^{\circ}$$36.47^{\circ}$, 경부의 굽힘과 폄이 $55.92^{\circ}$$71.22^{\circ}$, 왼쪽과 오른쪽의 옆굽힘이 $43.34^{\circ}$$41.06^{\circ}$, 왼쪽과 오른쪽의 돌림이 $69.38^{\circ}$$68.63^{\circ}$로 나타났다. 둘째, 후두하 굽힘, 왼쪽 돌림과 오른쪽 돌림에서 여성이 남성보다 더 높은 관절가동범위를 보였다(p<0.05). 셋째, 마사지군과 스트레칭군은 치료 후에 모든 항목에서 관절가동범위의 증가를 보였지만 두 그룹간의 비교에서는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p<0.05). 위의 결과는 마사지와 정적 스트레칭이 경부 근육의 신장 및 이완을 통해 가동범위를 증가시키는 적당한 방법이라는 것을 제시한다. 그리고 경부의 가동범위를 조사하는 연구의 기초로 제공될 수 있을 것이다.

The Effect of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Wrist Taping and Rhythmic Stabilization Technique on Pain and Grip Strength in Badminton Players with Wrist Pain

  • Purpose: We sought to examine whether using the rhythmic stabilization (RS) technique before proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) wrist taping affected pain and grip strength in patients with wrist pain to provide a basis for the application of PNF taping. Methods: The study consisted of 41 badminton enthusiasts (aged 20-40 years) who reported discomfort and pain due to overuse of their wrists. The subjects were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=20) or a control group (n=21). In the experimental group, PNF wrist taping was applied after application of the PNF RS technique, and PNF wrist taping was applied after stretching in the control group. The tape was applied five times a week for 3 weeks. Pain was measured using the visual analog scale (VAS). Grip strength was measured using a dynamometer. The paired t-test was performed to compare grip strength and pain within the groups before and after the intervention. Covariance analysis was conducted to compare differences between the experimental group and control group. The level of significance was set as ${\alpha}=0.05$. Results: Within-group changes in grip strength and VAS were significantly different in the control group and experimental group (p<0.01). Grip strength and VAS showed more improvement in the experimental group than in the control group (p<0.01). Conclusion: PNF wrist taping after stretching and the PNF RS technique both significantly reduced pain and improved grip strength in club badminton players with wrist pain. These improvements were significantly greater in the experimental group in which the PNF RS technique was applied. The results suggest that PNF may be considered useful to improve grip strength and reduce wrist pain.

알루미늄 선박의 외판 가공을 위한 인장성형 시스템 연구 (Multi Point Press Stretch Forming System Applied to Curved Hull Plate of Aluminum Ship)

  • Recently, aluminum ships are constructed more than ever because of the environmental pollution generated by FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) ships. In particular, FRP ships have been replaced by the Aluminum ships. The forming process of the curved aluminum plate has been performed only by labor works without systematic technique. Therefore, it is difficult to construct the aluminum ship that the design satisfies both required propulsion performance and hull design. Present study introduces a MPSF (Multi Point Stretching Forming) that is a flexible manufacturing technique to form large sheet panels of doubly curvature. The hull pieces are stretch-formed over the MPSD (multi-point stretching die) generated by the punch element matrix. In this study, MPSF is applied to deform the doubly curved surfaces of aluminum ship. The forming system including FEA (finite element analysis) of the processes for stretching the plate were carried out by static implicit analysis is suggested. Residual deformation of the surface is modeled by an elasto-plastic contact phenomena while the forming process is simulated by FEA. Finally, the proposed system is also validated, comparing the deformed shape by MPSF with that of object surfaces.

광감성 폴리비닐플루오로신나메이트의 액정 배향에 관한 연구 (Studies of Liquid Crystal Alignment on the Photosensitive Polyvinylfluorocinnamate)

  • 편광 푸리에 변환 적외선 분광법(polarized fourier transform infrared spectroscopy)과 자외선 분광법(ultraviolet spectroscopy)을 이용하여 액정 디스플레이 (liquid crystal display, LCD)의 배향막으로 사용 가능한 Polyvulylfluoroclnnamate(PVCN-F) 필름의 편광 자외선(Polarized UV, PUV) 조사 및 러빙에 따른 액정의 배향 메커니즘에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. UV의 조사시간이 증가함에 따라 PVCN-F cinnamoyl group의 C=C기들의 cycloaddition 반응으로 인하여 $1638cm^{-1}$에서 나타나는 vinylene -C=C- FT-IR 흡수 피크들의 면적이 감소하고, $1712cm^{-1}$에서 나타나는 conjugated C=O 신축진동에 의한 피크가 nonconjugated C=O 신축진동 피크인 $1734cm^{-1}$로 이동함을 확인하였다. 또한 PUV가 조사된 PVCN-F 배향막을 사용하여 제조된 액정 셀에서는 조사된 PUV의 극성 방향과 수직으로 액정이 배향함을 확인하였고, 러빙 방법으로 제조된 PVCN-F 배향막을 사용한 액정 셀에서는 액정이 러빙 방향과 수평으로 배향됨을 dichroic dye(이색성 염료)의 첨가 없이 편광 FT-IR 스팩트럼을 사용하여 확인하였다.

고유수용성신경근촉진법(PNF) 수축-이완 기법의 직접적 간접적 방법의 비교 (The Effectiveness of the Direct and Indirect Contract-Relax Technique in PNF)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of direct and indirect methods of contract-relax techniques in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching for improving hamstring flexibility. Methods: Twenty-six subjects were randomly assigned to either a direct contract-relax technique group or an indirect contract-relax group. For each group, stretching intervention was performed three times a week for a period of two weeks, with 12 seconds for the contraction and 10 seconds for the relaxation per once. The direct contract-relax technique for hamstring flexibility was applied by asking the subject to press down on the shoulder of the trainer in the straight leg-raising position. Conversely, the indirect contract-relax technique was performed by raising the leg with resistance. To facilitate a comparative analysis of hamstring flexibility between the two groups before and after the stretching intervention, two-way repeated ANOVA was performed. Hamstring flexibility for each group was measured using a passive straight leg-raising test. Results: The results showed significant improvement in hamstring flexibility for all subjects in the two groups. However, there was no significant difference between the groups. Conclusion: In conclusion, both direct and indirect contract-relax techniques are confirmed to be useful for improving hamstring flexibility. The choice of suitable technique has to be made individually according to the condition of each subject.

관절가동범위 증진을 위한 이완 기법의 적절한 수축강도와 수축시간은? (What is the Optimal Contraction Intensity and Duration in the Performance of Relaxation Techniques for Maximal Increase of Range of Motion?)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review articles in order to establish optimal contraction intensity and duration in the performance of relaxation techniques for maximal increase in range of motion. Methods: The Cochrane, EBSCO, Embase, Medline, ProQuest, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus databases were used to search articles from 1990 to January 2016. The search terms were "contract relax," "hold relax," "muscle energy technique (MET)," and "proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching." Only experimental human studies (randomized controlled trials) that compared the effects of varying intensity and duration of isometric contraction were included. Non-English language and unpublished studies were excluded. Results: A total of 2,156 articles were initially identified, with only five eventually meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Three studies compared the effects of varying intensity in isometric contraction and two studies compared the effects of varying duration in isometric contraction with regard to range of motion (ROM). Two articles suggested that submaximal voluntary isometric contraction was more effective than maximum voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) in the improvement of ROM. One article showed that a longer contraction time led to greater increases in ROM. Conclusion: Submaximal voluntary isometric contraction was recommended during contract-relax exercises in healthy people. Lack of evidence makes it difficult to suggest the optimal duration of isometric contraction during relaxation techniques. For future research, high-quality evidence will be needed to establish the optimal contraction intensity for maximum improvement of ROM.

무릎굽힘근의 신장성에 대한 수축-이완 기술의 효과 (The Effect of Contract-Relax with Agonist Contraction on Hamstring Extensibility in Normal Subjects)

  • Thirty healthy adults aged 20 to 29 with no history of musculoskeletal or neurogenic disorder volunteered for this study. The contract-relax with agonist contration(CRAC) was applied to the right hamstring muscles with the subject in the supine position. Each hamstring group was stretched on three sucessive days with several repetitions of the technique lasting 1min, 3min, and 5min. respectively. Hamstring extensibility at the knee(ROM) was measured before and after stretching using on electronic digital inclinometer(EDI). The results, namely the increase in ROM, were analysed using one-way repeated ANOVA at p<0.05. The differences were not significant. Possible factors influencing the results are excessive sensitibility of the measuring instrument, the psychological and physical status of the subjects, and the level of muscle fatigue. The mean increases in ROM were 3.0 at 1min., 2.6 at 3min, and 2.1 at 5min. Inclusion of a control group would have further defined the effects of the stretching technique.

The Effect of Patellar Inferior Gliding on Knee Flexion Range of Motion in Individuals With Rectus Femoris Tightness

  • Background: Various methods are used for recovery of knee flexion range of motion (ROM) due to a tightened rectus femoris muscle (RFM) or limited inferior glide of the patella. Stretching methods are common interventions for restoring the tightened RFM length. Also patellar inferior gliding (PIG) technique can recover tightened RFM length too. However, effect of applying the PIG to passive knee flexion (PKF) has not been studied. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of combining PIG with RFM stretching for improving knee flexion ROM in subjects with RFM tightness. Methods: Twenty-six subjects with RFM tightness were recruited. Two different methods of knee stretching were tested: 1) PKF during modified Thomas test (MTT) and 2) PKF with PIG during MTT. The passive stretching forces was controlled by hand-held dynamometer. The knee flexion ROM angle was measured by a MTT with ImageJ software. Differences between the conditions with and without PIG were identified with a paired t-test. Results: The knee flexion ROM was significantly greater for PKF with PIG ($114.44{\pm}9.33$) than for PKF alone ($108.97{\pm}9.42$) (p<.001). Conclusion: A combination of passive knee flexion exercise and PIG can be more effective than PKF in increasing knee flexion ROM in individuals with RFM tightness.

진단용 초음파 변형률 영상에서 전역 균일 신장에 의한 콘트라스트 향상 (Contrast Improvement in Diagnostic Ultrasound Strain Imaging Using Globally Uniform Stretching)

  • 기존의 초음파 의료용 탄성영상에서 변형률 영상을 모니터에 표시할 때 인간 시각 특성을 반영하여 단단한 부위는 어둡게 표시하고 무를수록 밝게 나타낸다. 따라서 종양이나 암이 존재하는 단단한 부위는 어둡게 나타나서 병변 내부의 콘트라스트는 저하되어 나타난다. 병변 영역은 단단하여 변형률 영상에서 어둡게 나타나므로 병변 내부를 좀 더 자세히 진단하는 방법으로, 누른 후의 신호를 누른 변형률만큼 다시 신장시켜서 얻는 전역 균일 신장 방법을 적용하여 영상의 명암을 반전시킴으로써 병변 부분의 콘트라스트를 올리는 방법을 제안하였다. 의료용 초음파 영상 진단기를 이용하여 탄성 모사 팬텀에서 초음파 데이터를 얻어서 제안한 알고리즘을 검증하여 유용성을 확인하였다. 전역 균일 신장 없이 회색조 컬러 맵을 반전해서 얻은 변형률 영상법에 비해 콘트라스트 대 잡음비가 최대 1.8배 정도 향상되었다.

Effective Parameters for the Precise Control of Thin Film Buckling on Elastomeric Substrates

  • This paper reports a simple and versatile technique for generating highly controllable sinusoidal nanostructures on the surface of poly-(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS). The sinusoidal features were generated by oxidizing PDMS slabs with oxygen plasma, then stretching them by wrapping around a cylinderical surface, and finally allowing them to relax. The wavelength and amplitude could be finely controlled by varying the fabrication conditions such as duration of oxidation, diameter of the glass cylinder, duration of stretching, thickness of the PDMS slabs, and temperature during the second hardening process. The varied trends of the buckling patterns were characterized by using an atomic force microscope.
