Coarse-grained soils are typical engineering materials commonly used in many civil engineering applications such as structural fills, subgrade and drainage fills for dam, railway and bridge. Various researches have been performed with related to constitutive laws for numerical analysis of such structures. This paper presents a parametric study for a constitutive model for coarse grained materials. The model is a kind of the bounding surface models based on critical state theory. A distinct feature of the model is to capture the response of coarse-grained materials with different void ratios and confining pressures using a single set of model parameters. The model behavior is defined with a set of elastic parameters, critical state parameters, and model-specific parameters. The parametric study was performed for the model-specific parameters. The result of parametric study shows that the model is capable to capture stress-dilatancy behavior and kinematic-hardening under non-associative plastic flow.
Concrete-to-concrete bedding planes (CCBP) are observed from time to time due to the multistep hardening process of the concrete materials. In this paper, a series of direct/cyclic shear tests are performed on CCBP under static and dynamic normal load conditions to study the frictional behavior effect by the shear velocities, normal impact frequencies, horizontal shear frequencies, normal impact force amplitudes, horizontal shear displacement amplitudes and normal load levels. According to the experimental results, apparent friction coefficient k ($k=F_{Shear}/F_{Normal}$) shows different patterns under static and dynamic load conditions at the stable shear stage. k is nearly constant in direct shear tests under constant normal load conditions (DCNL), while it is cyclically changing with nearly constant peak value and valley value for the direct shear tests under dynamic normal load conditions (DDNL), where k increases with decreasing normal force and decreases with increasing normal force. Shear velocity has little influence on peak values of k for the DCNL tests, but increasing shear velocity leads to increasing valley values of k for DDNL tests. It is also found that, the valley values of k ascend with decreasing impact normal force amplitude in DDNL tests. The changing pattern of k for the cyclic shear tests under constant and dynamic normal load conditions (CCNL and CDNL tests) are similar, but the peak value of k is smaller in CDNL tests than that in CCNL tests. Normal load levels, shear displacement amplitudes, vertical impact frequencies, horizontal shear frequencies and normal impact force amplitudes have little influence on the changing pattern of k for the cyclic shear tests. The tests of this study provide useful data in understanding the frictional behavior of the CCBP under distinct loadings, and these findings are very important for analyzing the stability of the jointed geotechnical structures under complicated in situ stress conditions.
One of the important causes of building and infrastructure failure, such as bridges on pile foundations, is the placement of the piles in liquefiable soil that can become unstable under seismic loads. Therefore, the overarching aim of this study is to investigate the seismic behavior of a soil-pile system in liquefiable soil using three-dimensional numerical FEM analysis, including soil-pile interaction. Effective parameters on concrete pile response, involving the pile diameter, pile length, soil type, and base acceleration, were considered in the framework of finite element non-linear dynamic analysis. The constitutive model of soil was considered as elasto-plastic kinematic-isotropic hardening. First, the finite element model was verified by comparing the variations on the pile response with the measured data from the centrifuge tests, and there was a strong agreement between the numerical and experimental results. Totally 64 non-linear time-history analyses were conducted, and the responses were investigated in terms of the lateral displacement of the pile, the effect of the base acceleration in the pile behavior, the bending moment distribution in the pile body, and the pore pressure. The numerical analysis results demonstrated that the relationship between the pile lateral displacement and the maximum base acceleration is non-linear. Furthermore, increasing the pile diameter results in an increase in the passive pressure of the soil. Also, piles with small and big diameters are subjected to yielding under bending and shear states, respectively. It is concluded that an effective stress-based ground response analysis should be conducted when there is a liquefaction condition in order to determine the maximum bending moment and shear force generated within the pile.

This study investigated the electromechanical response of smart ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concretes (S-UHPFRCs) under flexural loading to evaluate the self-sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs in both tension and compression region. The electrical resistivity of S-UHPFRCs under flexural continuously changed even after first cracking due to the deflection-hardening behavior of S-UHPFRCs with the appearance of multiple microcracks. As the equivalent bending stress increased, the electrical resistivity of S-UHPFRCs decreased from 976.57 to 514.05 kΩ(47.0%) as the equivalent bending stress increased in compression region, and that did from 979.61 to 682.28 kΩ(30.4%) in tension region. The stress sensitivity coefficient of S-UHPFRCs in compression and tension region was 1.709 and 1.098 %/MPa, respectively. And, the deflection sensitivity coefficient of S-UHPFRCs in compression region(30.06 %/mm) was higher than that in tension region(19.72 %/mm). The initial deflection sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs was almost 50% of each deflection sensitivity coefficient, and it was confirmed that it has an excellent sensing capacity for the initial deflection. Although both stress- and deflection-sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs under flexural were higher in compression region than in tension region, S-UHPFRCs are sufficient as a self-sensing material to be applied to the construction field.
In the companion paper, a constitutive model was proposed in order to represent brittleness and dilatancy for cohesionless soils. An optimized design methodology was proposed on the basis of real-coded genetic algorithm in order to determine parameters fir the proposed model systematically. The material parameters were then determined by that algorithm. In order to verify the proposed model, triaxial tests were peformed under $K_0$ conditions for weathered soils. In addition, the results of istropic compressed triaxial tests for granular materials verified the proposed model. For those results the brittle stress-strain relationship and the dilatancy could be modeled reasonably by the proposed model. As a result it was found that the proposed model can appropriately represent the behavior on weathered soil and granular soil.
The purpose of this paper is to develop a Hybrid Fiber-reinforced High Strength Lightweight Cementitious Composite (HFSLCC) incorporated with lightweight filler and hybrid fibers for lightness and high ductility. Optimal ingredients and mixture proportion were determined on the basis of the micromechanical analysis and the steady-state cracking theory considering the fracture characteristics of matrix and the interfacial properties between fibers and matrix. Then 4 mixture proportions were determined according to the type and amount of fibers and the experiment was performed to evaluate the mechanical performance of those. The HFSLCC showed 3% of tensile strain, 4.2MPa of ultimate tensile stress, 57MPa of compressive strength and $1,660kg/m^3$ of bulk density. The mechanical performance of HFSLCC incorporated with PVA fibers of 1.0 Vol.% and PE fibers of 0.5 Vol.% is similar to those of the HFSLCC incorporated with fibers of 2.0 Vol.%.

Tensile and LCF(low cycle fatigue) tests were carried out in air at wide temperature range 20$^{\circ}C$-750$^{\circ}C$ and strain rates of 1${\times}$10$\^$-4//s-1${\times}$10$\^$-2/ to ascertain the influence of strain rate on tensile and LCF properties of prior cold worked 316L stainless steel, especially focused on the DSA(dynamic strain aging) regime. Dynamic strain aging induced the change of tensile properties such as strength and ductility in the temperature region 250$^{\circ}C$-600$^{\circ}C$ and this temperature region well coincided with the negative strain rate sensitivity regime. Cyclic stress response at all test conditions was characterized by the initial hardening during a few cycles, followed by gradual softening until final failure. Temperature and strain rate dependence on cyclic softening behavior appears to result from the change of the cyclic plastic deformation mechanism and DSA effect. The DSA regimes between tensile and LCF loading conditions in terms of the negative strain rate sensitivity were well consistent with each other. The drastic reduction in fatigue resistance at elevated temperature was observed, and it was attributed to the effects of oxidation, creep and dynamic strain aging or interactions among them. Especially, in the DSA regime, dynamic strain aging accelerated the reduction of fatigue resistance by enhancing crack initiation and propagation.
The effect of strain aging on the tensile properties of API X70 linepipe steel was investigated in this study. The API X70 linepipe steel was fabricated by controlled rolling and accelerated cooling processes, and the microstructure was analyzed using optical and scanning electron microscopes and electron backscatter diffraction. Strain aging tests consisting of 1 % pre-strain and thermal aging at $200^{\circ}C$ and $250^{\circ}C$ were conducted to simulate U-forming, O-forming, Expansion(UOE) pipe forming and anti-corrosion coating processes. The API X70 linepipe steel was composed of polygonal ferrite, acicular ferrite, granular bainite, and bainitic ferrite whose volume fraction was dependent on the chemical composition and process conditions. As the thermal aging temperature increased, the steel specimens showed more clearly discontinuous type yielding behavior in the tensile stress-strain curve due to the formation of a Cottrell atmosphere. After pre-strain and thermal aging, the yield and tensile strengths increased and the yield-to-tensile strength ratio decreased because yielding and aging behaviors significantly affected work hardening. On the other hand, uniform and total elongations decreased after pre-strain and thermal aging since dislocation gliding was restricted by increased dislocation density after a 1 % pre-strain.

With the changes of times the building materials tend to extend the demand for application under the special environment. Since high-ductile mortar is developed, the building materials show excellent performance like toughness, compression, tensile, and bending, etc. in the general concrete from the existing brittle point. And, recently they are widely used as repairing and reinforcing materials both at home and abroad because they are recognized as excellence like durability and fire-resistance. However, it is in a situation of creating problems in durability because it frequently happened deterioration of buildings that have already repaired and reinforced at a time when it requires reconstruction of recently deteriorated construction structure recently. Therefore, in this study improved with a more repair Material development and reinforcement of the second high-ductile mortar products for a variety of basic materials were presented want, research plans used include traditional repair materials and the newly developed PCM (polymer cement mortar) structural reinforcement type indicated that comparison. PCM analysis in order to present a rate depending on the types fiber 0, 1.2 and 2.0(%) at three levels and mixture water according to ratios of weight to Plain in the 2.0 and 1.85(kg) at two levels is set, the results were as follows. 1) This study has shown that PCM had excellent strain hardening behavior at the same time that the bending stress increased according to the fiber contents. 2) This study has shown that it had the durability performance due to the high substance transmission according to the fiber contents.

This paper presents some research results on the shrinkage characteristics and frost resistance before and after cracking of FR-ECC(Fire Resistance-Engineered Cementitious Composite). Also, a waterstop performance and exfoliating resistance of multi-layer lining specimens using FR-ECC and flexural performance of beam member by repaired FR-ECC are estimated in this paper. Experimental results indicate that the plastic shrinkage crack and length change ratio of FR-ECC have been reduced as compared with that of the existing repair mortar, and that its crack resistance on the dry shrinkage is improved under the confining stress. As well as FR-ECC has been great in the frost resistance and its tensile properties under the cracked state have been not reduced by freezing and thawing reaction. In addition, beam member by repaired FR-ECC have been increased in the flexural properties such as initial crack moment, yeild moment, and its crack width has been controled in a stable by the frexural failure.
