This paper presents experimental and analytical results of glass fiber-reinforced concrete (GFRC) and polypropylene fiber-reinforced concrete (PERC) to investigate the relationship between tensile strength and compressive strength based on the split cylinder test (ASTM C496) and compressive strength test (ASTM C39). Experimental studies were performed on cylinder specimens having 150 mm in diameter an 300 mm in height with two different fiber contents (1.0 and 1.5% by volume fraction) at ages of 7, 28 and 90 days. A total of 90 cylinder specimens were tested including specimens made of the plain concrete. The experimental data have been used to obtain the relationship between tensile strength and compressive strength. A representative equation is proposed for the relationship between tensile strength and compressive strength of fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) including glass and polypropylene fibers. There is a good agreement between the average experimental results and those calculated values from the proposed equation.

The reduction phenomena of the compressive strength of concrete with respect to the size of specimens have been extensively investigated. However, adequate analysis technique have not been developed until now. Existing researches have shown that the larger member size, the smaller the strength. This indicated the necessity of nonlinear fracture mechanics theory in order to analyze the fracture behaviors of concrete. The are some models that predict the size effect of compressive strength of cylindrical specimens. Theses equations, however, are developed not considering the difference of fracturing mechanism which depends on both geometry of specimen and the strength level of concrete. In this paper, a model to predict compressive strength of cylindrical concrete specimens with respect to diameters, h/d ratios, and the strength level of concrete, is suggested. For this purpose, theoretical and statistical analyses are conducted. Experimental constants used in the model of new size effect are formulated in terms of strength levels of concrete based on existing experimental data.
The ribs of deformed bars can split the cover concrete by wedging action or shear off the concrete in front of the ribs. As slip of deformed bars increases, the rib face angle is flattened by the crushed concrete wedge, which reduces the rib face angle to a smaller bearing angle. The roles of bearing angle are explored to simulate this observation. Analytical expressions to determine bond strength for splitting and pullout failure are derived, where the bearing angle is a key variable. As the bearing angle is reduced, splitting strength decreases and shearing strength increases. When splitting strength becomes larger than shearing strength, the concrete key is supposed to be sheared off and the bearing angle is reduced with decreasing the splitting strength. As bars slip, bearing angle decreases continually so that splitting bond strength is maintained to be less than shearing bond strength. The bearing angle is found to play a key role in controlling the bond failure and determination of bond strength of ribbed reinforcing steel in concrete structures.

The quality of the concrete compression strength can be determined after the passage of 28 days, but if any defect is found the quality of concrete after that length of time, there can be serious problems in dismantling and repair. Thus, in response to the use of concrete using non sintering cement (NSC), the present study purposed to propose a method of managing the strength of high strength concrete using NSC in comparison with high strength concrete using ordinary Portland cement (OPC) through early strength estimation using microwave, which enables the quick estimation of the strength of high strength concrete using NSC.

The compressive strength of concrete is commonly used criterion in producing concrete. However, the tests on the compressive strength are complicated and time-consuming. More importantly, it is too late to make improvement even if the test result does not satisfy the required strength, since the test is usually performed at the 28th day after the placement of concrete at the construction site. Therefore, accurate and realistic strength estimation before the placement of concrete is being highly required. In this study, the estimation of the compressive strength of concrete was performed by probabilistic neural network (PNN) on the basis of concrete mix proportions. The estimation performance of PNN was improved by considering the correlation between input data and targeted output value. Adaptive probabilistic neural network (APNN) was proposed to automatically calculate the smoothing parameter in the conventional PNN by using the scheme of dynamic decay adjustment algorithm. The conventional PNN and APNN were applied to predict the compressive strength of concrete using actual test data of a concrete company. APNN showed better results than the conventional PNN in predicting the compressive strength of concrete.

Recently, more highly effective construction materials are needed for the reasonable and economical structure system is required as the construction structures become more multi storied, large-sized and diversified. That is to say, the highly qualified concrete, the molt universal construction material is positively promoted as a part of plan to establish the effective space according to the dead load of structures and diminish of segment profile and to build up the economic structures. In particular, it is tendency of that the study for high strength concrete increases and construction example of reinforced concrete (RC) using the high strength concrete partially increases. However, the high strength concrete has the problems such high brittleness and low ductility. Specially, for the high strength concrete, it has different strength from normal concrete as the internal temperature goes up steadily due to high heat of hydration by the quantities of highly level of cement, so the concrete which is mixed with various scible materials is used. This study conducted a basic experiment to conclude an adequate selection of materials and to calculate an optimal mixing proportion of those materials to produce High-strength concrete. And also we conducted an experiment to find out basic properties of this concrete such as slump-flow, strength.

Because reinforced concrete structures were being high more and more in recent year, concrete was being demanded high performance of high strength and high fluidity. But various characteristics must be confirmed besides guarantee of demand strength in ultra-high strength concrete. In ultra-high strength concrete, autogenous shrinkage and drying shrinkage grow big because of a low water cement ratio and much quantity of binder. So dangerousness of crack generation grow big in early ages. And ultra-high strength concrete is influenced by use materials more than ordinary strength concrete. In this study we were examined mix design, atuogenous shrinkage and pumpability of ultra-high strength concrete to apply on the ground.
The reinforced concrete structure is one of the most popular structures in real construction. Concrete has been strengtened rapidly due to the development of new material and construction technology. But as the concrete has been getting stronger, the brittleness of material has increased and the better ductility has been required. So, the study for strengthening stiffener has been urgently needed. As we said above, it is expected that the use of high strength steel and concrete will be increased. However, The experimental data is not enough for solving problems of the use of high strengthened steel and concrete. In this research, we analyzed 45 combinations of the strength levels of concrete, the thickness of material and the steel strength with regard to simple Reinforced Concrete SLAB Beam bridge. The program MIDAS CIVIL was used to find the optimal combination. As a result, it was found that strength ratio per unit section is in inverse proportion to the strength of material and that the strengths of steel are respectively 400 MPa for low strengthened concrete and 300 MPa for high strengthened concrete. For economic aspect and usability, the effect of high strength steel is not as high as we expected it would be.

Primarily, to evaluate the structural condition assessment of concrete structures, percentile strength of concrete in concrete structures should be found out. This study aims to establish the evaluation techniques for concrete strength in existing concrete structures considering the concrete quality and reliability. The results are as follows ; 1. Percentile strength of concrete in concrete structures can be estimated from following strength equation. $$f_p=f_{mea} - {\lambda}_pS_s$$2. For the calibration of above percentile strength equation with proposed codes or specifications, following sample size based on ASTM E122 can be applied.

The strength development of Flyash concrete containing various amount of Flyash (0, 10, 30, 50%) using as a cement replacement material was investigated two types of curing conditions, namely water curing at $21^{\cire}C$
and steam curing at $25^{\cire}C$
were adopted for this work, in water curing the strength development of Flyash concrete was always inferior to that of OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) concrete at early ages, although the differences were dependant up percentage of Flyash. The strength of Flyash concrete based on equivalent strength development at 28 days was also tested and the results exhibited that the strength was improved at early days, specially, the concrete containing 30% of Flyash, in steam curing for the same mix(270kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) the strength of Flyash concrete similar to that of OPC concrete, in other words. Flyash was strongly influenced by curing temperature in the strength development.
