  • This paper presents a study on the flexural ductility of reinforced concrete beams, 16beams with different concrete strength, reinforcement ratio, reinfo- rcement strength. For the purpose of inducing flexural failure, the reinforce ratio ($\rho$-$\rho$') was made not to be more than $0.75\rho$b in accordance with ACi code 318-89. From the test results, it is found that in case of a concrete strength increased from 240 to 650kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, the displacement and curvature ductility factore are increased by about 31-231 percents. And also increased in case of increased from 650 to 900kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, but the increasing ratio is gradually decreasing accoding to a concrete strength increases. And also found that as the Double Re-bar Ratio (($\rho$-$\rho$')/$\rho$b) increases, so the displacement and curvature ductility ratio would decrease, but in case of increased from 650 to /$900kg\textrm{cm}^2$ the decreasing ration is bigger than in case of increased from 240 to $650kg/\textrm{cm}^2$.

  • In this study, the mechanical properties of reactive powder concrete (RPC) with a constant cement to silica fume ratio of 4 were investigated. In the experimental program, reactive powder concretes with steel fiber at different ratios were produced. Five productions using quartz sand with a maximum grain size of 0.6 mm were performed. A superplasticizer with a ratio of 3% of the cement was used for all productions. $40{\times}40{\times}160mm$ prismatic specimens were prepared and tested for flexural and compression. The specimens were exposed to two different curing conditions as autoclave and standard curing condition. Autoclave exposure was performed for 3 hours under a pressure of 2 MPa. It was observed that the compressive strength of concrete, along with the flexural strength exposed to autoclave was quite high compared to the strength of concretes subjected to standard curing. The results obtained indicated that the compressive strength, along with the flexural strength of autoclaved concrete increased as the amount of cement used increases. Approximately 15% increase in flexural strength was achieved with a 4% steel fiber addition. The maximum compressive strength that has been reached is over 210 MPa for reactive powder concrete for the same steel fiber ratio and with a cement content of $960kg/m^3$. The relationship between compressive strength and flexural strength of reactive powder concrete exposed to both curing conditions was also identified.

  • This paper is to investigate the mechanical characteristics of light-weighted soils (LWS) consisting of expanded polystyrene(EPS), dredged clays and cement by using both uniaxial and triaxial compression tests. The mechanical characteristics of the compressive strength of LWS are analysed with varying initial water contents of dredged clays, EPS ratio, cement ratio, and curing stress. In the triaxial compression state, it is found that the compressive strength of LWS containing EPS is independent on the effective confined stress. As the EPS ratio decreases($A_E$<2%) and cement ratio increases($A_c$>2%), the behavior characteristics of triaxial compressive strength-strain relationship is similar to that of cemented soil which decreases rapidly in compressive strength after ultimate compressive strength. For the applications of LWS to ground improvements which require the compressive strength of up to 200kPa, the optimized EPS ratio and initial water content of dredged clay are estimated to be 3~4% and 165~175%, respectively. Also, the ultimate compressive strength under both triaxial test and uniaxial compression states are almost constant for a cement ratio of up to 2% and then critical cement ratio of this LWS shall be 2%.

  • This research analyzes the properties of mortar following the rise in water-cement ratio and applicability as an eco-friendly construction supply by using the mudflats of a dredged arena as a substitute for aggregate. The results of a experiment of the flow showed that the flow value decreases as the amount of mudflats increases. A test for chloride content showed that the chloride content increases with the amount of mudflats. In the compression of specimen mixed with mudflat and the testing of tensile strength, the strength weakened as the addition ratio of mudflats rose. However, with 14-day strength as the standard, most specimen showed more strength than the plain, and 14-day strength was higher than 28-day strength. It appears to be experimental error in the mixing process from the viscosity and cohesion of mudflats, and it is considered that there will be a need for an experiment on mixing methods of mudflats in the future. The compressive strength of this research was the strongest with 70% in water-cement ratio, and the tensile strength was strongest with 80% in water-cement ratio. In the evaluation of surface analysis, 70% water-cement ratio, which is finest in strength, mixing, and compactness, was selected to analyze the roughness of the surface, and the results showed that the surface became smoother as the addition ratio of mudflats increases. In conclusion, it appears that 70% water-cement ratio is the optimal mixing ratio for mortar and 10 to 30% addition ratio of mudflats the optimal ratio. It also appears that the application of interior finishing material like bricks and tiles and interior plastering material using the mudflats are possible.

  • To analyze the effects compressive strength of concrete and longitudinal steel ratio on second-order moment of columns, 30tied rein reinforced concrete columns with hinged ends were tested. The 80mm square cross section was used and the amount of eccentricity was 24mm. The compressive strengths of column specimens with slenderness ratios of 10, 60, and 100were 250, 648 and 880kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and the longitudinal steel ratios were 1.98%(4-D6) and 3.95%(8-D6). The ratio of ultimate load capacity to that of short column with the same eccentricity (Pu/Pn) was much decreased at high slenderness ratio with increasing the compressive strength of concrete. And the lateral displacement of slender column at the ultimate load was decreased as the strength was increased. These are due to that at high slenderness ratio the load capacity and behavior of column are affected by flexural rigidity. And, it was also found that with increasing steel ratio, the value of Pu/Pn and the lateral displacement at the ultimate load were larger for the same slenderness ratio.

  • Limestone mine waste was used as a aggregate far permeable concrete. Void ratio, continuous void ratio, coefficient of permeability, compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete were measured and then the relationship between porosity and strength properties was investigated. Void ratio, continuous void ratio and strength properties of permeable concrete were greatly influenced by the grain size of aggregate and void filling ratio in comparison with the containing ratio of limestone mine waste. Furthermore, void ratio showed a good relation with continuous void ratio, and porosity of permeable concrete indicated a good relation with strength properties also. The coefficient of permeability of permeable concrete using limestone waste was over 0.2 cm/sec and was excellent result in comparison with normal concrete. Therefore, it could be expected that the limestone mine waste would be utilized as aggregate for pavement concrete, green concrete and water resource specie concrete in the results of this study.

  • This study set up 25, 35% for silica fume, SFFB's 2 level and water-combination material ratio, silica fume 10% for substitution ratio, and 4 level of SFFB 5, 10, 15(%) in order to compare and analyze the quality characteristic of ultra high strength concrete according to the substitution ratio of silica fume free binder (SFFB) that can be utilized as a substitute material for silica fume. As a result of an experimentation, the lower water-combination material ratio was, the higher addition ratio of high performance water-reducing agent for securing target liquidity increased, and it indicated the tendency that addition ratio of high performance water-reducing agent decreases because of material characteristic that SFFB has a lower absorptiveness than silica fume. The best strength was shown when SFFB substitution ratio is 10% at compressive strength and when substitution ratio is 15% at tensile strength, and it was indicated that at autogenous shrinkage contraction decreases compared to Plain(SF) regardless of substitution ratio of W/B and SFFB.

  • In this study, the expansion and compressive strength tests of emergency restoration material were carried out to restore cavity causing ground subsidence. The expansion and compressive strength characteristics according to component ratio of main material - hardener and mix proportion of blowing agent - accelerator were analyzed based on the test results. As a result of the relationship of curing time - expansion ratio analyses, it confirmed that expansion ratio decreased with reduced curing time regardless of mix proportion of blowing agent - accelerator in main material, if component ratio of hardener increased. This means that component ratio of the main material - hardener had greatly affected the expansion ratio. The compressive strength characteristics of emergency restoration material confirmed that strength was affected by mix proportion of blowing agent - accelerator. Therefore, it is necessary to apply reasonable component ratio and mix proportion to consider the required injection time, expansion ratio and strength of restoration material, when emergency restoration in ground cavity is required.

  • This study is to compare and analyze the physical and strength properties of lightweight concrete using domestic lightweight aggregate by replacement ratio of artificial lightweight fine and coarse aggregate after considering low cement mixture and pre-wetting time. The slump, unit weight, compressive strength and split tensile strength of lightweight concrete with domestic lightweight aggregate were measured. As test results, the slump of lightweight concrete by replacement ratio of lightweight fine aggregate increased as the replacement ratio of lightweight fine aggregate increased. The unit weight of lightweight concrete using 100% of lightweight fine aggregate was about 10.4% lower than that of the lightweight concrete with natural sand. In addition, the unit weight of lightweight concrete by replacement ratio of lightweight coarse aggregate increased with the increase of the ratio of LWG10(5~10mm). The compressive strength of lightweight concrete with lightweight fine and coarse aggregate increased as the replacement ratio of lightweight fine aggregate increased. The compressive strength of lightweight concrete with natural sand and LWG10 was 30 to 31MPa regardless of the replacement ratio of the lightweight coarse aggregate after 7 days.
