MEASUREMENT OF OPERATIONAL ACTIVITY FOR NONROAD DIESEL CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT

  • In order to better quantify the contribution from nonroad sources to emission inventories, it is important to understand not only the emissions rates of these engines but also activity patterns that can be used to accurately portray their in-use operation. To date, however, very little information is available on the actual activity patterns of nonroad equipment. In this study, a total of 18 pieces of nonroad equipment were instrumented with collected data including intake manifold air pressure (MAP), exhaust temperature and, on a subset of vehicles, engine rpm and throttle position. The equipment included backhoes, compactors, dozers, motor graders, loaders and scrappers used in applications such as landfilling, street maintenance and general roadwork. The activity patterns varied considerably depending on the type of equipment and the application. Daily equipment operating time ranged from less than 30 minutes to more than 8 hours, with landfill equipment having the highest daily use. The number of engine starts per day ranged from 3-11 lover the fleet with an average of 5 starts per day. The average percent idle time for the fleet was approximately $25\%$ with a range from 11 to $65\%$ for individual pieces of equipment. Duty cycles based on exhaust temperature/throttle position profiles were also developed for two graders and one dozer.

서울 건물정보 자료를 활용한 UM 기반의 도시캐노피 모델 입력자료 구축 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of Urban Canopy Model Based on Unified Model Input Data Using Urban Building Information Data in Seoul)

  • The purpose of this study is to build urban canopy model (Met Office Reading Urban Surface Exchange Scheme, MORUSES) based to Unified Model (UM) by using urban building information data in Seoul, and then to compare the improving urban canopy model simulation result with that of Seoul Automatic Weather Station (AWS) observation site data. UM-MORUSES is based on building information database in London, we performed a sensitivity experiment of UM-MOURSES model using urban building information database in Seoul. Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis of 1.5 km resolution Seoul building data is applied instead of London building information data. Frontal-area index and planar-area index of Seoul are used to calculate building height. The height of the highest building in Seoul is 40m, showing high in Yeoido-gu, Gangnam-gu and Jamsil-gu areas. The street aspect ratio is high in Gangnam-gu, and the repetition rate of buildings is lower in Eunpyeong-gu and Gangbuk-gu. UM-MORUSES model is improved to consider the building geometry parameter in Seoul. It is noticed that the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of wind speed is decreases from 0.8 to 0.6 m s-1 by 25 number AWS in Seoul. The surface air temperature forecast tends to underestimate in pre-improvement model, while it is improved at night time by UM-MORUSES model. This study shows that the post-improvement UM-MORUSES model can provide detailed Seoul building information data and accurate surface air temperature and wind speed in urban region.

실리콘 태양전지를 활용한 공기순환 의복의 태양광 입사각에 따른 효율성 및 쾌적성평가 (Efficiency and Comfort Properties of Silicon Solar Cell Applied Air Circulation Jacket according to the Incident Angle of Sunlight)

  • This study analyzes the efficiency of a solar cell attached to an air circulation jacket. A commercially available silicon solar panel was selected and attached at four spots where the body angle was $40-60^{\circ}$ and voltage ($V_{oc}$, V), current ($I_{sc}$, A), and output power (P, W) were measured to determine the efficiency. The solar panel was applied to the outer jacket that operates with two fans to increase the convection that lowers the body temperature. The heavy work of standing, walking, and sweeping of a street sweeper was simulated in the field test. The microclimate within the jacket (with or without a fan) was measured and the subjective thermal, humidity, and comfort sensations were surveyed. SPSS 12.0 statistical package was used for a t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results show that the highest efficiency of the solar cell was at the incident angle of $60^{\circ}$ in terms of voltage, current and output power distribution. The microclimate temperature of the air circulation jacket decreased significantly with the high power of the fan and subjects felt cooler than the jacket with a fan at the incident angle of $60^{\circ}$. Air circulation jackets operated by a silicon solar panel showed a significant cooling effect on the wearers.

도시 내 열환경 분석에서 무인항공기의 활용가능성 (Applicability of UAV in Urban Thermal Environment Analysis)

  • 도시는 콘크리트, 아스팔트 등 인공적인 피복과 고층 건물의 증가로 인해 열섬현상이 발생되고 있다. 이와 관련하여 인공위성 열적외 영상을 활용한 도시의 열환경 분석에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 복잡한 토지피복을 가진 도시의 열환경 특성을 분석하기에는 위성영상의 공간해상도는 한계를 가지고 있다. 무인항공기(UAV)는 높은 해상도의 영상을 취득할 수 있어 이러한 한계점을 보완하기에 적절하며, 최근 폭넓게 활용되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 무인항공기 열적외 영상의 정확성 검증과 Landsat 8 열적외 영상과의 해상도 비교를 통한 도시 내 열환경 분석에서 활용가능성에 대해 검토하였다. 정확성 검증 결과, 온도 값의 상관성은 0.95로 높은 양의 상관관계를 보였고, 두 집단의 통계적 차이가 없었다. 해상도 비교를 위한 두 영상의 지표온도의 차이 분석 결과, 시가화 지역이 $4.63^{\circ}C$로 가장 높은 차이를 보였으며, 셀 단위가 작은 무인항공기영상이 다양한 지표온도를 반영하였다. 온도 그래프 비교 결과, 도시의 지표온도를 낮출 수 있는 습지, 가로녹지 등의 세부적인 공간의 지표온도 분석이 가능하였고, 가로수 그림자의 지표온도저감 효과 분석 결과, 약 $4{\sim}6^{\circ}C$ 가량 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 무인항공기는 세부적인 공간의 분석이 가능하였고, 단시간에 일정 면적의 지표온도를 취득하기 용이하였다. 따라서 무인항공기는 피복을 고려한 공원의 조성이나 관리, 소규모 녹지의 효과 분석 등 도시 내 열환경 분석 전반에 걸쳐 높은 활용성을 가질 것이라 판단된다.

저온처리에 따른 국내 상록활엽수종의 내한성 비교 평가 (The Comparative Assessment of Cold Tolerance of Broad-leaved Evergreen Trees by Low Temperature Treatment)

  • 본 연구는 기후변화에 대응하여 광범위한 지역에서 가로수 식재에 활용 가능한 상록활엽수를 선발하기 위한 연구의 일환으로서 국내 남부지역에서 생육하는 굴거리나무, 녹나무, 동백나무, 다정큼나무, 종가시나무, 후박나무, 황칠나무 등 7수종에 대하여 내한성을 비교하기 위해 수행되었다. 저온처리에 따른 7종 상록활엽수의 전해질 용출을 측정한 결과 처리 온도가 낮아질수록 값이 증가하였고, 전해질 용출량과 처리 온도와의 관계를 비선형회귀를 통하여 분석한 결과 도출된 함수들은 S자 반응곡선의 형태로 나타났다. 예측치사 온도를 통하여 수종별 내한성을 분석한 결과 동백나무(-11.586℃)> 다정큼나무(-9.348℃)> 종가시나무(-8.719℃)> 후박나무(-8.090℃)> 굴거리나무(-7.409℃)> 황칠나무(-7.085℃)> 녹나무(-6.995℃) 순으로 조사되었다. 앞서 평가한 것처럼 국내 남부지역의 동일한 지역에서 생육하는 7종 상록활엽수들 중에서도 상대적 내한성 차이가 5℃ 이상을 나타냈고 동일한 과에 속하는 종간에서도 녹나무과는 내한성 차이가 2℃ 이상을 나타냈다. 내한성이 강한 우수 수종을 분석한 결과 종가시나무, 동백나무, 다정큼나무이며 이들은 중부지역 도시들에서 외부 온도 조건으로 생존 가능성을 평가할 필요가 있다고 판단된다.

거리 가판대에서의 초미세먼지(PM2.5)와 블랙 카본(BC)의 농도평가: 조리 가판대를 중심으로 (Assessment of PM2.5 and Black Carbon Concentrations among Street Vendors: Focusing on Cooking Stalls)

  • Background: PM2.5 and black carbon (BC) can be generated from cooking and from vehicle operation. Street vendors may be exposed to PM2.5 and BC due to their proximity both to roads and to cooking activities. Objectives: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the PM2.5 and BC concentrations in cooking stalls and to determine the effects of cooking activity and of types of cooking. Methods: Indoor and outdoor PM2.5 and BC concentrations, temperature, and relative humidity were measured in 32 stalls in April and May 2022. Behavioral factors such as the presence of cooking activity and types of cooking were observed. Student's T-test was performed using the difference of indoor and outdoor PM2.5 and BC concentrations to compare the effects of cooking activity and to compare types of cooking. Results: One-hour averages of the difference in indoor and outdoor PM2.5 concentrations for cooking stalls and non-cooking stalls were 9.7±15.7 ㎍/m3 (n=22) and -0.5±0.4 ㎍/m3 (n=10), respectively. The difference in indoor and outdoor PM2.5 concentrations in cooking stalls was significantly higher than in non-cooking stalls (p<0.05). The indoor PM2.5 concentration for stalls for Chinese pancakes and teokbokki exceeded the standards for indoor air quality in South Korea (50 ㎍/m3 ). The indoor PM2.5 concentration for Korean pancake stalls exceeded the standards for outdoor air quality in South Korea (35 ㎍/m3 for 24 hours). Conclusions: The PM2.5 concentrations in stalls with cooking activity was significantly higher than those in stalls without cooking activity. Some stalls with certain types of foods exceeded standards for indoor and outdoor air quality in South Korea. Better management of indoor air quality in stalls with cooking activities is necessary.

가로수 전정가지 및 생활계 폐목재를 이용하여 제조한 바이오차의 Methylene Blue 흡착특성 (Removal Properties of Methylene Blue using Biochar Prepared from Street Tree Pruning Branches and Household Wood Waste)

  • 수계에 오염된 색도 물질을 더욱 효율적으로 처리하고자 버려지는 폐자원을 이용하여 흡착제인 바이오차를 제조하고 적용하는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이에 가로수 전정부산물이나 폐목재를 활용하여 넓은 비표면적을 가지고 있는 바이오차를 제조하고 이를 이용하여 색도물질 제거에 적용하였다. 대표적인 가로수 전정부산물(플라타너스, 은행나무, 참나무)과 폐목재를 산소가 없는 조건에서 열분해하여 바이오차를 제조하였으며, 제거대상 물질로는 방향족 고리를 가지고 있어서 생물학적 분해가 어렵고, 물리적 처리와 화학적 처리시 제거효율이 떨어지는 것으로 알려져 있는 녹청색의 유기염료로 주로 인피섬유에 사용되며, 종이, 가죽과 면의 매염에 사용되기도 하는 메틸렌블루(MB)를 선정하였다. 실험결과 플라타너스 기반 바이오차가 제일 높은 흡착능을 보였으며, Langmuir 모델식을 이용하여 구한 qmax 값은 78.47 mg/g으로 나타났다. 또한 물리적 흡착과 화학적 흡착을 구별하는데 사용되는 Dubinin-Radushkevich(D-R) 모델식을 이용하여 흡착에너지(E) (kJ/mol)를 구한 결과 MB에 대한 흡착에너지(E) 값은 4.891 kJ/mol로 8 kJ/mol(물리흡착과 화학흡착의 기준 값) 보다 작았으며, 이는 바이오차와 MB 염료 사이에 van der Waals와 같은 약한 결합이 존재하는 물리흡착임을 알 수 있었다. 반응온도 변화에 따른 흡착실험을 통해 얻은 ∆G의 값은 -3.67~7.68 kJ/mol으로서 물리적 흡착반응 영역에 해당함을 확인하여, 본 연구에서 제조된 플라타너스 기반 바이오차의 MB 흡착메커니즘은 넓은 비표면적을 이용한 물리적 흡착임을 제시할 수 있었다. 또한 타 연구에서 제시된 상업용 활성탄과 비교하여도 동등 이상의 흡착능력을 보였다.

주행속도를 고려한 고속도로 나들목 연결로의 편경사 상향조정에 관한 연구 (Increasing Superelevation on Freeway Interchange Ramp based on Running Speed)

  • OBJECTIVES : Many roadway departure crashes on the freeway interchange are due to the running speed being greater than the design speed. This study aims to ensure a safe and pleasant driving experience for the driver by increasing the superelevation based on the running speed on the highway interchange ramp. METHODS : The mean running speed for each type of ramp is calculated on site survey more than 10 interchanges. Using the mean running speed, we calculated the superelevation and the side friction using the method given in "A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Street" (Pages 145-166, 2001). Then, we applied the modified method to the superelevation range. Finally, we ensured safety using the Degree of Safety that is proven by the centrifugal acceleration ratio as suggested by Joseph Craus (1978). RESULTS : The mean running speeds are 50 km/h and 65 km/h when the design speeds are 40 km/h and 50 km/h, respectively. After the application of the new method used in this study, the superelevation will be increased by 9.0% and 10.0% when the mean running speeds are 50 km/h and 65 km/h, respectively. CONCLUSIONS : A higher superelevation can give the driver a more comfortable and safe driving environment. However, the driver needs to be aware of snow and low-temperature conditions.

중.고등학교 교복에 대한 교사들의 태도 (Teachers’Attitudes toward the Middle and High School Student Uniform)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the teachers’attitudes toward the middle and high school student uniform. The questionnaire included independent variables about teacher themselves and school surroundings, and questions about teachers’attitudes toward school uniform. The participants were 316 middle and high school teachers in Chonbuk province. Means, standard deviations, frequencies, and percentages were calculated. ANOVA test was used for differences and scheffe-test was followed. The results were: 1. Teachers were content with “Students in uniform are upright and look more studentlkie.”“It’s easy to supervise students outdoors.”, and “There’s few efficiencies in coping with the temperature alternating.”, “Students in uniform hardly can reveal their originality.”and “It’s inconvenient for the students to be dynamic in uniform.” 2. Teachers in high schools and in private schools showed more positive attitudes toward uniform. And the male teachers, teachers graduated from general college, married teachers, and teachers who have a career of more than 20 years showed more positive attitudes toward uniform. More variables concerned about teacher themselves showed more significant differences than those about school surroundings. 3. Most of teachers showed positive attitudes toward uniform. The rank order of the reasons for the teacher’s positive attitudes were “Students in uniform are upright and look more studentlike.”, “It’s easy to supervise students outdoors.”, and “There’s no noticible distinction between the rich and the poor students.”The rank order of the reason for the teachers’negative at titudes were “Student in uniform could hardly reveal their originality.”, “It’s inconvenient for the student to be dynamic in uniform.”, and ”As they have to get the street clothes besides, economic burden becomes double in reality.”4. More than half of the teachers who are working at schools with uniform showed positive attitudes toward uniform. The rank order of reasons for the teachers’positive attitudes were “Students in uniform are upright and look more studentlike.”,“It’s easy to supervise students outdoors.”and “Economic burden could be decreased.”“The rank order of the reasons for the negative attitudes were “It’s inconvenient for the student to be dynamic in uniform.”, “Students in uniform could hardly reveal their originality.”, and “Students cannot feel free in mind with uniform.”5. Teachers overall showed positive attitudes toward uniform whether they work ar schools with uniform or without it.

목표지향설계 개념을 이용한 실외화재진압 및 인명구조 로봇의 개발 (Development of Eire-lighting and Rescue Robot for Outdoor Environment using Target Oriented Design Methodology)

  • This paper presents the development of fire-fighting and rescue robot for Outdoor Environment. In the procedure of this development, we follow Target Oriented Design (TOD) which is recognized as the systematic methodology to design a system by specifying the target clearly. For some real fire fighting tasks (e.g. tasks in shopping street and a market), narrow road make it difficult for existing fire engine to access the firing place. On the other hand, for dangerous tasks (e.g. gasoline station and a storehouse) the explosive materials make it impossible for fire-fighters to access the firing place. Moreover, the smoke and the high-temperature caused by fire make fire fighting difficult. In this situation, the solution is to develop the fire-fighting and rescue robot. TOD is performed firstly by analyzing the environment properties of fro place and the demanded tasks and the fire-fighting and rescue robot is manufactured. For safety, the fire fighting robot should be controlled by remote operation to keep the operator away from the fire, and the control system is divided into three parts: the robot controllers, controller for remote operating device and wireless communication system. We have selected and developed appropriate hardware and software for each part of control system with considering TOD. As a result, the fire-fighting robot functions correctly and the performance and usefulness of our control architecture is validated by successfully performing some fire-fighting tasks.
