  • As analyzed the estimated values of the daily delivery loads from thirteen major side streams such as Naesung-river, Keumho-river, Hwang-river, Nam-river during five years (from 1999 to 2003), the daily BOD inflow into the main stream of Nakdong river in 2003 shows the highest quantity as 31.1 ton and the daily BOD inflows in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 are 26.7 ton, 22.5 ton, 21.0 ton, 25.8 ton, respectively. The daily TN in-flow into the main stream of Nakdong river in 2003 shows also the highest quantity as 64.9 ton and the daily TN inflows in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 are 55.19 ton, 46.27 ton, 39.5 ton, 53.38 ton, respectively. The daily TP inflow into the main stream of Nakdong river in 2003 shows the highest quantity as 2.70 ton likewise and the daily TP inflows in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 are 2.17 ton, 1.87 ton, 1.60 ton, 2.10 ton, respectively The rate of BOD loads from each side main stream into the main stream of Nakdong river shows that the BOD loads of Keumho-river are the highest as the values range from 32.8 % (2002) ${\sim}$ 35.1 % (2003) and the BOD loads of Nam-river, Naesung-river, Hwang-river are high in the order named. The rate of TN loads to the main stream is also similar to the trend of BOD loads. The contribution of the TN loads of Geumho-river to the contamination of the main stream is also the highest having a range from 27.0 % (2002) to 28.8 % (1999) among the main side streams and the TN loads of Naesung-river, Nam-river, and Heachun-river are high in the order named. The rate of TP loads is quite different from the trend of BOD and TN loads. The TP rate of Keumho-river, however, is still the highest as ranging 58.6 % (2002) to 61.7 % (2003) and the river has the biggest portion (over 50%) of the entire pollution to the main stream of Nakdong river.

  • The stream cipher Salsa20 and its reduced versions are among the fastest stream ciphers available today. However, Salsa20/7 is broken and Salsa20/12 is not as safe as before. Therefore, Salsa20 must completely perform all of the four rounds of encryption to achieve a good diffusion in order to resist the known attacks. In this paper, a new variant of Salsa20 that uses the chaos theory and that can achieve diffusion faster than the original Salsa20 is presented. The method has been tested and benchmarked with the original Salsa20 with a series of tests. Most of the tests show that the proposed chaotic Salsa of two rounds is faster than the original four rounds of Salsa20/4, but it offers the same diffusion level.

  • Recursive Patching is an efficient multicast technique for large-scale video on demand systems and recursively shares existing video streams with asynchronous clients. When Recursive Patching initiates a transition stream, it always makes a transition stream have additional data for the worst future request. In order to share a VOD server's limited network bandwidth efficiently, this paper proposes Practical Patching that removes the unnecessary data included in the transition stream. The proposed Practical Patching dynamically expands ongoing transition streams when a new request actually arrives at the server. As a result, the transition streams never have unnecessary data. Simulation result confirmed that the proposed technique is better than Recursive Patching in terms of service latency and defection rate.

  • A Boolean function generates a binary sequence which is frequently used in a stream cipher. There are number of critical concepts which a Boolean function, as a key stream generator in a stream cipher, satisfies. These are nonlinearity, correlation immunity, balancedness, SAC(strictly avalanche criterion), PC(propagation criterion) and so on. In this paper, we present the algorithms for generating random nonlinear combining functions satisfying given correlation immune order and nonlinearity. These constructions can be applied for designing the key stream generators. We use Microsoft Visual C++6.0 for our program.

  • Many continuous queries are important to be process efficiently in a data stream environment. It is applied a query index technique that takes linear performance irrespective of the number and width of intervals for processing many continuous queries. Previous researches are not able to support the dynamic insertion and deletion to arrange intervals for constructing an index previously. It shows that the insertion and search performance is slowed by the number and width of interval inserted. Many intervals have to be inserted and searched linearly in a data stream environment. Therefore, we propose Hashed Multiple Lists in order to process continuous queries linearly. Proposed technique shows fast linear search performance. It can be utilized the systems applying a sensor network, and preprocessing technique of spatiotemporal data mining.

  • In order to examine the contamination levels of trace elements in stream sediments in the Chungnam coal mine area, stream sediment and water samples were collected and analyzed for trace elements. The pH of stream water was neutral or weak-alkaline and the mobility of metal in stream sediments was supposed to be low. From the result of cluster analysis, non-polluted sampling stations can be distinguished from polluted sampling stations influenced by mining activities. The trace element concentrations in sediments from non-polluted zone were considered to be the natural backround concentrations of this area. The trace element concentrations in sediment samples from the mining area were higher than those from non-polluted area, and contaminated area of enriched trace element levels need to be properly managed. From the results of discriminant and regression analyses, concentrations of Cd, Cu, Pb AND zN and predicted values of Be, Mo, and Ni in Chungnam coal mine area were found to be lower than those in metal mining areas in Korea.

  • This study is focused on fish fauna and distributional features along with physical gradients and stream orders in the Tamjin River basin, Korea. Fish sampling and investigation were conducted for 2 years from 2009 to 2010. Total number of fish species collected were 47 species of 16 family. The group of cyprinidae was mostly abundant. Both fish abundance and biotic index were declined with increasing altitude and longitudinal distance from the river mouth. Two species of Zacco temminckii and Pungtungia herzi were prevalent in most of sampling sites and showed no altitudinal and longitudinal differences. Most other species, however, were spatially restricted to specific regional altitudes. Several species including Zacco platypus, Squalidus gracilis majimae and P. herzi were broadly distributed from river mouth to 50 km. Eight species including Z. temminckii and Rhynchocypris oxycephalus only appeared in over 10 km from the river mouth. Both Odontobutis platycephala and Pseudobagrus koreanus were classified as "upstream dewelling species" observed only in over 30 km from the river mouth. High proportion of tolerant and omnivorous species were more dominated in the downstream zone of the dam, whereas intolerant and insectivorous species were abundant in the upstream zone of the dam. The variable of stream order showed positive relationship between number of fish species and total individuals collected. Sensitive species including insectivore had a declining tendency with increasing stream order, while tolerant specie including omnivore species had relatively increased with stream order. Overall, our study suggested that fish distribution considerably depends on altitudinal gradient and longitudinal distance from the river mouth as well as physical habitat.

  • In u-GIS environments, various load shedding techniques have been researched in order to balance loads caused by input spatial data streams. However, typical load shedding methods on aspatial data lack regard for characteristics of spatial data, also previous load shedding approaches on spatial, which still lack regard for spatial data density or dynamic input data stream, give rise to troubles on spatial query processing performance and accuracy. Therefore, dynamic load shedding scheme over spatial data stream is proposed through stored spatial data deviation and load ratio of input data stream in order to improve spatial continuous query accuracy and performance in u-GIS environment. In proposed scheme, input data which are a big probability related to spatial continuous query may be a strong chance to be dropped relatively.

  • The TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) has been used to determine the water quality target. LDC (Load Duration Curve) based on hydrology has been used to support water quality assessments and development of TMDL. Also FDC (Flow Duration Curve) analysis can be used as a general indicator of hydrologic condition. The LDC is developed by multiplying FDC with the numeric water quality target of the factor for the pollutant of concern. Therefore, this study was to create LDC using the stream flow data and numeric water quality target of BOD and T-P in order to evaluate the pollutant load characterization by flow conditions in Heukcheon stream. When it is to be a high-flows condition, BOD and T-P are necessary to manage. BOD and T-P did not satisfy the numeric water quality target for both seasons (spring and summer). In order to meet the numeric water quality target in Heukcheon stream, management of non point source pollutant is much more important than that of point source pollutant control.

  • A data stream is a massive unbounded sequence of data elements continuously generated at a rapid rate. Query processing for such a data stream should also be continuous and rapid, which requires strict time and space constraints. In most DSMS(Data Stream Management System), the selection predicates of continuous queries are grouped or indexed to guarantee these constraints. This paper proposes a new scheme tailed an ASC(Attribute Selection Construct) that collectively evaluates selection predicates containing the same attribute in multiple continuous queries. An ASC contains valuable information, such as attribute usage status, partially pre calculated matching results and selectivity statistics for its multiple selection predicates. The processing order of those ASC's that are corresponding to the attributes of a base data stream can significantly influence the overall performance of multiple query evaluation. Consequently, a method of establishing an efficient evaluation order of multiple ASC's is also proposed. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is analyzed by a series of experiments to identify its various characteristics.
