Participation observation was conducted on one of geography teacher learning communities. The total of 11 research participants were selected to conduct in-depth interviews. The data collected were analyzed by the coding method proposed by Strauss and Corbin(1990, 1998). In open coding, 125 concepts, 43 sub-categories and 17 categories were drawn and in axial coding by paradigm model, phenomenon, conditions, action/interaction and consequences turned out. In selective coding, the participants were classified into four types and the condition/consequence matrix was developed. As a result of the analysis, first, participation, obstacles and continuous participation factors of geography teachers in the teacher learning community could be understood from multi-dimensional aspects. Second, principles of the collaborative teacher learning and the factors promoting collaborative teacher learning were established. Third, the professional development of geography teachers through teacher learning community could be understood.

  • There are few research on the social drinking experience reported by women. Thus, it is necessary to understand the increasing tendency of womens drinking experience in the sociocultural context. This study was aimed to explore and delineate the drinking experience of full-time house wives base don Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory (1998). The subjects of this study were 10 full-time middle-aged house wives who were living in Seoul region. The data were collected through several in-depth interviews and observations until the theoretical saturation was achieved. The data were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory method. The results of this study generated a paradigm that the drinking experience of the full-time middle-aged house wives has a core category of 'free-oneself-from' and is also connected with mingling, anguish, accessibility, reaction of other people, change, personal resources, self-expression and building relationships by drinking. All processes from the occurrence of the central phenomenon to extinction are as follows; 1) Starting the process of the drinking experience for mingling and resolving anguish, and by having an easy accessibility; 2) Perceiving the process of reaction by other people, physical change of herself. and psycho-behavioral change; 3) Experiencing the process of free-oneself from thorough drinking; 4) Acknowledging the process of the resources for free-oneself-from; 5) Selecting the process of self-expression according to the resources; 6) Building the process of the relationship with drinking as a way of self-expression. Based on this paradigm, 4 hypothesis and 4 types are generated. Thus, this study suggests that it is useful to develop nursing interventions to improve the self-esteem of the full-time middle-aged house wives and to provide them various methods of problem solving strategies. This study also proposes that there should be a strategic program for the women so that they could make a route for positive self-expression by achieving a proper relationship with drinking.

Such categories were analyzed by the paradigm of the grounded theory, and as a result the experiences of the mothers of epileptic children were based on a causal condition of 'confrontation' and the central phenomenon of 'Wandering around the forest under a yoke'. The contextual conditions, which exerted influence on phenomena, were 'stigma cognition', 'personality traits' and 'health of children.' Method: There were 15 subjects in their 30s who had experience using Internet to solve health problems for themselves and their families. Results: 114 concepts, 31 subcategories, and 9 categories were derived from the analysis by using approaches by Strauss & Corbin. Central phenomenon was "Primary healthcare information" and the core category was "Selecting ways to solve health problems". The participants' experiences were conceptualized into two perspectives: reliability of the information and tendency of preference among the sites. Conclusion: All of the processes found on Internet that solved health problems required the assistance of a health professional such as a nurse. It was judged that there are some differences in the degree of usage regarding health-related information, which was primarily in accordance with the confidence and attitude of the user with respect to Internet information. We presented a strategy that could operate with professionals and nonprofessionals. Therefore, we can be satisfied by the fact that this study suggests a complimentary nursing strategy to the healthcare on Internet.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of recovery from disease in the patients doing a kind of Buddhist meditation, and to develop a grounded theory about meditation. Method: Data was collected by an in-depth interview using tape-recordings from sixteen participants doing meditation. The data was analyzed using the grounded theory method proposed by Strauss and Corbin(1998). Result: The core category was discovering the true self. The participants began to do meditation because of their disease. They experienced obstacles due to incomplete religious acceptance. However, their faith grew gradually based on religious experiences that were indescribable. Finally, they entirely trusted the inner healer, which is emphasized in meditation. The strategies that they used were self reflection and seeking help for accepting deep meditation. They were stabilized in physical, psychological and social daily living. The processes of discovering the true self were identified as entering religious discipline, embodying religious discipline, self-accomplishing religious faith, and recovering mind-body health. Conclusion: This study provided the understanding of mind-body integration. Empirical research may be needed to prove scientifically the effects of meditation.

  • The purpose of this study is by using the Grounded Theory method to examine the process of starting a business in an online shopping mall for young self-employed people with experience in using Company N's Partner Square (Gwangju), a startup infrastructure institution. In this study, in-depth interview survey data were used, and theoretical sampling method was used in the selection of study participants. After proceeding in the order of open coding, axis coding, and selective coding suggested by Strauss & Corbin, it was analyzed with a paradigm model. The main research results are as follows. First, even when parents were unaware about online shopping malls or had a negative mindset about it, but they had a positive mindset about their children's start-ups, it was found that their children tended to start online shopping mall businesses. However, if parents had a negative mindset about online shopping malls and about their children's start-up, then the child could not start an online shopping mall business. Second, it was found that the ability to use online shopping malls is important as a condition for entrepreneurship and achievement in online shopping malls for young people. In particular, Partner Square (Gwangju) was found to increase the ability to use online shopping malls and positively influence startups in online shopping malls. Third, it was found that young people have increased their self-esteem, discovering opportunities, and reinforcing their creativity, in addition to simply increasing their sales after starting the online shopping mall.
