  • This study suggests a new paradigm to build the identity of railway culture design, since it plays a critical role in enhancing competitiveness of culture and design. It is considered to be a valuable factor to improve users' satisfaction and to have a new effect on the railway industry. This study is focused on systematic study on the culture & design and competitiveness for railway industry, that emphasizing on making necessary strategic scenarios accordingly. Consequently, it is going to make higher added values to secure a footing and advanced images of railway industry.

전략적 유연성을 고려한 연구개발사업의 경제성 평가: 이론 및 사례 분석 (Economic Valuation of R&D Programs with Strategic Flexibility)

  • Under circumstances with increasing uncertainty, strategic flexibility has become an essential point on which my R&D management system should be based. Unfortunately the present R&D management system for government sponsored R&D programs cannot be said to be so flexible to adapt appropriately to various threatens such as technological failure, a severe change in competition environment, and so on. In this paper a new scheme for R&D planning and economic assessment with strategic flexibility is suggested and applied to a real R&D program. In the newly suggested R&D management system, economic valuation based on real option theory is performed for various alternative scenarios which have different strategic scheme for R&D process each and the result of the assessment is fed back to R&D planning to choose more superior strategic scheme. Introducing strategic flexibility into R&D planning and economic assessment, the value of R&D project could be remarkably enhanced.

지속가능한 유역관리를 위한 자연지역의 시공간적 특성 분석 -일본 아라가와 유역을 대상으로- (Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Natural Area for Sustainable Watershed Management in the Ara River Basin, Japan)

  • As a frontier of Sustainable Basin Research Initiative, we commenced a scenario-driven planning and evaluation research project which is to identify the strategic policy scenarios. As a part of the project, this study attempts to estimate the ecological impacts of land cover changes using landscape indices at the whole basin level. We analyzed spatio-temporal characteristics of natural area including forest, agricultural land, water area, barren which play an important role in nature-friendly sustainable watershed management. The results of analysis shelved that the size and diversity of natural area have been reduced, while patch number and isolation have been increased in proportion to urbanization in 1974, 1995 and four future scenarios in the Ara River Basin. Also, we estimated that the natural area could be conserved to some degree in the SD or DE scenarios with a concept of environment-friendly development and lifestyle. Various strategic environment policies may be evaluated and designed on the basis of the method, that is, scenario approach and landscape ecological analysis suggested in this study.

  • 시나리오 방법론은 빠르고 복잡하게 변화화는 경영환경 하에서 기업을 지원해 주는 가장 효과적인 툴 중에 하나이다. 특히, 시나리오 방법론은 불확실한 상황에서 의사결정시 보다 효과적이다. 이 논문은 기업의 관리자들이 어떻게 시나리오 기반의 기업 전략을 수립 할 수 있는지 보여 준다. 한국의 무선 통신 서비스 시장의 가상 이동 망 사업자 (MVNO: Mobile Virtual Network Operator)의 사례를 들어 설명하였다. 또한, 시나리오 기반 관리에 대한 이론적 고찰을 하였으며, 전략적 관리 프로세스에 시나리오 방법론을 통합하는 방법론에 대해 논의하였다. 특히, 시나리오에서 상황을 결정짓는 다양한 중요 요소들과 흐름들을 새롭게 고안된 방법론을 통하여 발견하였고, 이를 통해 새로운 전략들을 도출하였다.

  • 기존의 첨단 운전자 지원 시스템 (Advanced Driver Assistance System, ADAS)들은 전방 위험탐지와 같은 한정적 상황에서의 사고 예방에 집중하고 있어 다양한 사고 시나리오가 존재하는 교차로에 적용하기에는 한계를 가지고 있다. 또한 기존 연구는 주로 사고 요인 분석에 집중하고 있어 첨단 운전자 지원 시스템의 사고 예방 성능에 관한 연구는 미비한 편이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 비전 및 레이더 센서 기반 첨단 운전자 지원 시스템의 다양한 교차로 사고 예방에 대한 성능을 평가하고 대책을 마련하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 미국의 Second Strategic Highway Research Program(SHRP2)의 naturalistic driving study(NDS)에서 수집된 사고/준사고 상황의 거리 측정 데이터를 기반으로 16개의 교차로 사고 시나리오를 도출하였고, 총 363건의 차량과 차량 간 사고를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 16개의 사고 시나리오 중 0.7의 사고 예방율을 기준으로 카메라 기반 시스템은 5개, 레이더 기반 시스템은 4개의 사고 시나리오에서 사고를 예방할 수 있었다.

Trend-Casting in the Interactive Digital Media Industry: Some Results and Guidelines

  • In this practice article, we present the results of a scenario planning approach that is a hybrid of the three main schools of thought. Our research objective was to study the future of Interactive Digital Media applications such as online music, on-demand television and massively multi-player online role-playing games. Our approach, while essentially qualitative in nature, nevertheless draws from the rigors of the quantitative school in identifying and then tracking the significant dimensions of analysis that emerge over time as strands of events leading to plausible scenarios. Our empirical analysis revealed mapping strands to three themes - ownership, distribution and innovation - which we used in an expert validation exercise to formulate scenarios. We present and discuss the major findings and implications of this empirical investigation. In a nutshell, we conjecture that an open, competitive IDM marketplace with performance safeguards may serve both and lead to a win-win scenario. While there are differences among IDM sectors, a unified approach to regulation and policy would be effective.

국내 완성차 물류 네트워크 합리화 방안 연구 (A Study on the Outbound Logistics Network Rationalization of Domestic Automobile Industry)

  • Many of logistics-related research in automobile industry has focused on inbound logistics and procurement. Research into outbound logistics is relatively few. As a starting research into outbound logistics in automobile industry, this paper examined its logistics network problems with three aspects - location strategy, inventory strategy and transportation strategy. We proposed alternatives of logistics network design resolution, and presented three practical scenarios based on those alternatives. Based on interview, on-site visit and internal data collection processes, we identified major domestic outbound logistics problems such as redundant logistics bases, inefficient delivery policy, insufficient inventory capacity, inventory stock quality deterioration, inefficient transportation system, and etc. In order to cope with those problems, we proposed such strategic alternatives as introduction of hub-and-spoke system, integration of logistics bases, introduction of (automatic) parking building, diversification of transportation mode, and etc. At the same time, we constructed three practically executable scenarios based on those ideas. The first is "Center Hub" scenario, the second is "Metropolitan Hub" scenario. The third and last scenario is "Regional Consolidation of Warehouses (distribution centers)".

수소혼입 천연가스 배관망의 누출 특성 분석 및 누출 시나리오 선정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of the Leakage Characteristics and the Selection of Leakage Scenarios of the Blending Hydrogen into Natural Gas Pipeline)

  • This study analyzed cases of hydrogen (H2) and natural gas (CH4) leakage from a hydrogen-blended natural gas pipeline to determine a range of leakage characteristics, including leakage type, pipe material, pipe diameter, pressure, and damage size. Based on the results of this analysis, five hydrogen-blended natural gas leakage scenarios were selected. The national vision for a carbon-neutral society by 2050 is a very important strategic objective and promotes environmentally sustainable economic development in the age of the climate crisis. Accordingly, zero-carbon and low-carbon policies are being promoted in various fields, including energy production, consumption, and industrial processes. Hydrogen-blended natural gas is eco-friendly and is considered an important step towards carbon neutrality, with various countries including the United States and several European countries conducting empirical research to further investigate its potential. In Korea, a national research project commenced in April 2023 to verify and demonstrate the life cycle safety of blending hydrogen into the natural gas network. The results of this study will provide important data for the analysis of the damage impacts caused by the leakage of hydrogen-blended natural gas, such as the diffusion of gas clouds, fires, and gas explosions.

  • Enterprise resource planning(ERP) in nature entails large scale business process redesigns and the corresponding risks. To reduce such risks, enterprise modeling(EM) approach could be adopted through which ERP is planned and effectively implemented on a consistent basis throughout the entire organization. The scope of this paper is to report on EM experiences and lessons learned in the process of ERP implementation. Through a case study, this paper presents and EM methodology which takes due account of strategic business processes, information flows, organizational requirements, and their interdependencies. To assess the impact of distributed application scenarios on effective ERP implementation, alternative EMs have been created and evaluated whether they support information requirements for strategic decisions and day-to-day operational activities, core business processes, and business functions as required. Practical issues and problems raised in the EM process have been discussed.
