  • Recently, the role of IT service providers has been enlarged from managing a single function or system to reconstructing entire information management processes in new ways to contribute to shareholder value across the enterprise. This movement toward extensive and complex outsourcing agreements has been driven by the assumption that outsourcing information technology functions is a reliable approach to maximizing resource productivity. Hiring external IT service providers to manage part or all of its information-related services helps a firm focus on its core business and provides better services to its clients, thus obtaining sustainable competitive advantage. This practice of focusing on the strategic aspect of outsourcing is referred to as strategic sourcing where the focus is capability sourcing, not procurement. Given the importance of the strategic outsourcing, however, to our knowledge, there is little empirical research on the relationship between the strategic outsourcing orientation and outsourcing performance. Moreover, there is little research on the factor that makes the strategic outsourcing effective. This study is designed to investigate the relationship between strategic IT outsourcing orientation and IT outsourcing performance and the process through which strategic IT outsourcing orientation influences outsourcing performance, Based on the framework of strategic orientation-performance and core competence based management, this study first identifies core competency orientation as a proper strategic orientation pertinent to IT outsourcing and IT outsourcing process management capability as the mediator to affect IT outsourcing performance. The proposed research model is then tested with a sample of 200 firms. The findings of this study may contribute to the literature in two ways. First, it draws on the strategic orientation - performance framework in developing its research model so that it can provide a new perspective to the well studied phenomena. This perspective allows practitioners and researchers to look at outsourcing from an angle that emphasizes the strategic decision making to outsource its IT functions. Second, by separating the concept of strategic orientation and outsourcing process management capability, this study provides practices with insight into how the strategic orientation can work effectively to achieve an expected result. In addition, the current study provides a basis for future studies that examine the factors affecting IT outsourcing performance with more controllable factors such as IT outsourcing process management capability rather than external hard-to-control factors including trust and relationship management. This study investigates the major factors that determine IT outsourcing success. Based on strategic orientation and core competency theories, we develop the proposed research model to investigate the relationship between core competency orientation and IT outsourcing performance and the mediating role of IT outsourcing process management capability on IT outsourcing performance. The model consists of two independent variables (core-competency-orientation and IT outsourcing process management capability), and two dependent variables (outsourced task complexity and IT outsourcing performance). Comprehensive data collection was conducted through an outsourcing association. The survey data were analyzed using a structural analysis method. IT outsourcing process management capability was found to mediate the effect of core competency orientation on both outsourced task complexity and IT outsourcing performance. Further analysis and findings are discussed.

  • The purpose of this research was to examine the factors that affect colleges that play an important role in technology commercialization as technology provider, and enterprises as technology user engaging in technology transfer commercialization by dividing it into strategic resource factor. And this study was also intended to present a strategic meaning and perspective relative to colleges and enterprises as well. To do this, those factors that have influences on technology transfer commercialization were elicited through investigation of literatures, and classified into strategic resource factors to suit research purpose, and based on these information, research hypothesis and research model were established and designed. Research results improved that some enterprises among benefited from technology transfer.

  • As port functions change to act as an economic catalyst and take on a central position in industries engaged in international trade, port hinterland has become a significant component in international shipping. The success of port hinterland as a strategic base of logistic activities critically depends on location selection factor for international distribution center that links elements of global supply chain management. By examining multi-measurement items empirically, this paper analyzed location selection factor for international logistics distribution center in port hinterland, and evaluated Busan new port hinterland from the user's perspective. Employing exploratory factor analysis, the results revealed that the model structured around five factors incorporating geo-location and accessibility, availability, political supports, cost factors, and quality of business environment is valid and reliable in the context of the location selection factors for logistics distribution center in the context of port hinterland operations. The evaluation of Busan new port hinterland provides useful insights for strategic improvement to accommodate the users' expectation. Further, the model offers both a descriptive and diagnostic strategic management tool for port hinterland development and operations, to guide future improvement.

  • Although researches on digital transformation and competitive strategies are active, but research or alternatives considering fitness between them are still insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to identify the relationship between the types of digital transformation project and the innovation of competitive strategies, and to suggest strategic implications and alternatives for how to utilize digital transformation when establishing a competitive strategy. To this end, this study first derived 14 types of digital transformation in 4 areas through literature research. Then, the relevance of digital transformation and competitive strategy identified through previous studies and case analysis was identified, an effective link between competition strategy and digital transformation, and optimization of fitness between competition strategy and internal resources were presented. This study contributed in that it attempted to advance research on competitive strategies in an academic perspective by approaching them from the perspective of strategic fitness about digital transformation. In addition, in the industrial aspect, it contributed to the fact that it supported the systematic implementation of the competitive strategic response of companies that had to deal with the situation where they wanted to promote digital transformation wisely from the viewpoint of fitness.

  • As the information technology including Internet not only opened the cyber world but also has evolved as a platform that enables a new generation of businesses and remolds the shape of thinking and the rules of supply chain management (SCM). By using the Theory of Constraints, which seems simple but robust to review the traditional SCM context, the paper proposes a conceptual framework to handle the SCM issues. From the strategic perspective, this paper focuses on three policy constraints: supplier-manufacturer oriented constraints, manufacturer-distributor oriented constraints, and supply chain oriented constraints. To optimize the throughput and sustain the competitiveness of supply chain members in the dynamic business environment, the companies should utilize the potential competency of information technology and consistently perform the activities of removing and/or reinforcing the constraints.

  • It is difficult to transform a blockchain initiative from the feasibility stage to the fully commercialized the technology's products or services, especially considering the significant investment required and the lack of studies on the benefits and barriers from deployment perspective. Whereas some organizations have come up with their own solutions to moving beyond the feasibility stage, commercial applications do not yet exist and few organizations are willing to invest beyond the prototype phase and fill in the gap between the expected and actual business value of these types of projects. This study aims to develop a blockchain model using a survey to gather qualitative data on experts' opinions on the deployment of blockchain technology. Our model will measure how business professionals could take advantage of blockchain's disruptive technology to develop business opportunities. This study's contribution is to show blockchain technology's potential strategic business value. The findings from this exploration include the prospective for delivering comprehensions to businesses for different creating investment choices on the embracing of the blockchain technology.

  • This study focuses on the detailed explanation of the strategic allocation algorithm which can be used as an ATP(Available To Promise) from the perspective of customers, and as a sales plan for sales organizations. A strategic allocation algorithm includes three methods depending on FIXED RATIO, RANK and DEMAND BASIS. In addition, further topics would be discussed regarding the method of system implementation utilizing strategic allocation algorithms and information flow with an aim to integrate such a sales plan into the e-Biz. This study aims to provide a new solution in order to secure emerging competitive factors in today's enterprise world; that is, an achievement of faster business processes. It is suggested that this new solution be implemented in order to achieve an efficient business environment by systemizing the decision making process which in the past was manually conducted.
