  • The PEM type regenerative fuel cell(RFC) for the ground simulator of the regeneration electric power system has been designed, manufactured, and tested. In this paper, the designing and manufacturing procedures of the RFC were presented. Also, the performance test results were showed briefly. The RFC consists of PEM type stack, humidifier, pressure and flow control valve, storage tanks, pump and controller. The performance tests were carried out with stack and system performance tests. The performance targets are more than 50% stack efficiency, 1.5kW stack power, less 400W parasitic power in design condition. Most of the performances required are satisfied.

  • In recent years, the interaction force between a permanent magnet and a closed superconductor coil has been gradually investigated in depth. The principle and application potential of an energy storage/convertor composed of a magnet and a closed superconducting coil have been proved. However, the study on the force between a magnet and a non-closed superconducting coil (superconducting roll stack) has hardly been reported in previous literature. The behavior of this kind of interaction and its influence to the interaction force between a permanent and a closed superconducting coil are also still unclear. In this paper, first we investigated the interaction force between a magnet and a superconducting roll stack. Then, a series of experiments were designed and conducted to clarify the factors affected the interaction force, including the geometrical parameters of the superconducting roll stack and the magnetic field density at the roll stack. Moreover, the comparison of the interaction forces between the magnet and roll stack or a closed coil was also introduced.

  • This paper discusses the multifrontal direct solution method with out of core storage for large scale structural analysis in a limited computing resource. Large scale structural analysis requires huge amount of memory space and computation, so out of core solution method is needed in limited computing resource. In this research, out of core multifrontal solution algorithm which utilize the small size of physical memory and minimize the amount of access of low speed out of core storage is introduced. Three ideas, which are stack space in lower trianglar part of square factorization matrix, inverse stack data structure and selective data caching and recovery by data block size, are proposed.

  • This study aims to compare the retention efficiency of library materials of Automated Storage and Retrieval System(AS/RS) revealed by the literature review to other types of book stacks. Domestic and foreign academic libraries adopted AS/RS as part of a plan to improve the retention efficiency. Literature review reveals that in general, AS/RS is better in the retention efficiency in compare to other types of book stacks. This study compared the amount of library materials stored by the AS/RS of S University Library to the general book stack and the fixed-type and the mobile rack-type of virtual book stacks. The study reveals that AS/RS is up to 6 times more efficient than general book stacks, up to 3.61 times more efficient than fixed-type book stacks and up to 1.45 times more efficient than mobile rack-type book stacks. However, the study claims that the retention efficiency of library materials of AS/RS is lower than what is known.

  • The ESS(Energy Storage System) connected with distributed generation is drawing attention due to improving the quality load leveling, peak shaving for enhancing reliability of the power grid. The grid-connected inverter makes frequency adjustment to the active power's charge discharge according to the load variation. In addition, the inverter is possible to act as a reactive power compensation device to eliminate harmonic operates as power factor change inhibiting, anti-transient voltage fluctuation, active filter. In this paper, we propose a design method of igbt stack considering the reactive power supply capacity to improve the quality and reliability of the inverter. Moreover, the grid-connected inverter considering the four-quadrant rated operation designed stack and verified the feasibility of the design through a thermal analysis.

  • We present experimental results on the multiplexed and stack-wise recording of near-field holograms. Experiments on angular multiplexing show that the angular selectivity of near-field hologram is better than that of the conventional hologram. Experiments on stack-wise recording prove that near-fields originated from sub-diffraction-limit-size objects could be stored in a photorefractive crystal at 2mm apart from the crystal surface. In addition, to improve the data access and transfer time, a silicon nano-aperture array was introduced and applied to the recording of near-field holograms.

  • This paper proposes a new controller design method for a fork-type lifter (FTL) of a transportation mobile robot. The transportation robot needs to pick up a package from a stack on a storage shelf and move on by a planned path in a logistics center environment. The position of the storage shelf is recognized by reading a QR code on the floor, and using this position, the robot can move to reach the storage shelf and pick up the package. PID controllers and an adaptive controller are designed to control the velocity of two wheels and the position of the FTL. An adaptive controller for the lifter is designed to elevate up and down on a slideway to the correct height position of the package on the stack of the storage shelf. The simulation results show that the PID controllers can respond smoothly to the desired angular velocity and the adaptive controller can adapt quickly and correctly to the desired height.

  • Object-based storage is an efficient storage solution that can handle unstructured data and shows better security and scalability than traditional block-based storage. However, in terms of power management, Object-based storage writes multiple copies in storage cluster, hence many servers consume unnecessary power in idle state. In order to resolve this problem, it is necessary to apply power management strategy by adjusting power mode of servers in idle state according to their workloads. In this paper, we proposed a new dynamic power management (DPM) method to transform power mode of storage servers dynamically according to workload information sent from proxy server. The experimental result shows that the proposed power management technic reduces total power consumption by 12% in the OpenStack based Swift object storage.

  • Fuel cells have the potential of providing several times higher energy storage densities than those possible using current state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries, but current energy density of fuel cell system is not better than that of lithium-ion batteries. To achieve the high energy density, volume and weight of fuel cell system need to be reduced by miniaturizing system components such as stack, fuel tank, and balance-of-plant. In this paper, the thin flexible PCB (Printed circuit board) is used as a current collector to reduce the stack volume. Two end plates are made from light weight aluminum alloy plate. The plate surface is wholly oxidized through the anodizing treatment for electrical insulation. The opening rate of cathode plate hole is optimized through unit cell performance measurement of various opening rates. The performances are measured at room temperature and ambient pressure condition without any repulsive air supply. The active area of MEA is 10.08 $cm^2$ and active area per a unit cell is 1.68 $cm^2$. The peak power density is about 210 mW/$cm^2$ and the air-breathing planar stack of 2 Wis achieved as a small volume of 18 cc.
