OWL 요소와 질의 패턴에 대한 관계 분석에 웹 온톨로지 저장소의 구현 및 평가 (Implementation and Evaluation of a Web Ontology Storage based on Relation Analysis of OWL Elements and Query Patterns)

  • W3C에서 OWL을 웹 온톨로지 기술을 위한 표준으로 채택함으로써 OWL 웹 온톨로지를 효과적으로 저장할 수 있는 저장 모델에 대한 필요성이 제기되었다. 지금까지 Jena, Sesame, DLDB 등과 같은 관계형 모델 기반의 저장 시스템이 개발되었나 여전히 여러 가지 문제점을 지니며, 특히 비효율적인 질의 처리 성능을 제공한다. 질의 처리 성능이 저하되는 구조적인 문제점을 하면 다음과 같다. Jena의 경우, 정규화가 이루어지지 않은 매우 단순한 구조를 지니며 단일 테이블에 대부분의 정보를 저장한다. 이는 단순 검색은 물론 조인 연산이 요구되는 질의 처리시 불필요한 정보까지 비교함으로써 성능을 급격하게 저하시킨다. Sesame와 같은 저장소는 지나치게 정규화 된 구조를 지니기 때문에 질의 처리시 많은 조인 연산이 요구된다. 심지어 단순한 특정 클래스를 검색할 경우에도 많은 조인 연산이 요구된다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 기존 저장모델의 비정규화 혹은 지나친 정규화로 인해 발생하는 질의 처리 성능 저하 문제를 해결할 수 있는 저장 모델을 제안한다. 이를 위해 OWL 요소와 질의 패턴과의 관계를 분석하고 기존 저장 모델의 구조적인 문제점을 분석한다. 이러한 분석 결과를 통해 정의된 제안 모델은 적정 수준의 정규화 된 구조를 지니며 조인 연산이나 불필요한 정보에 대한 비교를 최소할 수 있는 구조를 제공한다. 질의 처리 성능 실험을 위해 LUBM 데이타 셋을 이용하며, 검색 대상 및 대상의 계층 관계를 고려한 질의 유형을 정의한다. 추가적으로, 제안된 저장모델의 데이타 손실 여부를 확인하기 위해 질의 결과의 정확성 및 완전성에 대해 실험하고 그 결과를 기술한다. 비교 평가 결과에서, 제안 모델이 기존 저장 모델보다 나은 성능을 보였다.

  • In the daily multi-reservoir operating problem, monthly storage targets can be used as principal operational guidelines. In this study, we tested the use of a simple back-propagation Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model to derive monthly storage guideline for daily Coordinated Multi-reservoir Operating Model (CoMOM) of the Han-River basin. This approach is based on the belief that the optimum solution of the daily CoMOM has a good performance, and the ANN model trained with the results of daily CoMOM would produce effective monthly operating guidelines. The optimum results of daily CoMOM is used as the training set for the back-propagation ANN model, which is designed to derive monthly reservoir storage targets in the basin. For the input patterns of the ANN model, we adopted the ratios of initial storage of each dam to the storage of Paldang dam, ratios of monthly expected inflow of each dam to the total inflow of the whole basin, ratios of monthly demand at each dam to the total demand of the whole basin, ratio of total storage of the whole basin to the active storage of Paldang dam, and the ratio of total inflow of the whole basin to the active storage of the whole basin. And the output pattern of ANN model is the optimal final storages that are generated by the daily CoMOM. Then, we analyzed the performance of the ANN model by using a real-time simulation procedure for the multi-reservoir system of the Han-river basin, assuming that historical inflows from October 1st, 2004 to June 30th, 2007 (except July, August, September) were occurred. The simulation results showed that by utilizing the monthly storage target provided by the ANN model, we could reduce the spillages, increase hydropower generation, and secure more water at the end of the planning horizon compared to the historical records.

Frequency Control of in Hybrid Wind Power System using Flywheel Energy Storage System

  • In this paper, a design problem of the flywheel energy storage system controller using genetic algorithm (GA) is investigated for a frequency control of the wind diesel hybrid power generation system in an isolated power system. In order to select parameters of the FESS controller, two performance indexes are used. We evaluated a frequency control effect for the wind diesel hybrid power system according to change of the weighted values of a performance index. To verify performance of the FESS controller according to the weighted value of the performance index, the frequency domain analysis using a singular value bode diagram and the dynamic simulations for various weighted values of performance index were performed. To verify control performance of the designed FESS controller, the eigenvalue analysis and the dynamic simulations were performed. The control characteristics with the two designed FESS controller were compared with that of the conventional pitch controller. The simulation results showed that the FESS controller provided better dynamic responses in comparison with the conventional controller.

웹 프락시 서버의 디스크 I/O 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Disk I/O for Web Proxy Servers)

  • 웹 프락시 서버에서 디스크 I/O는 병목현상을 일으키는 주요 요소이다. 오늘날 대부분의 웹 프락시 서버는 범용 파일 시스템에서 실행되도록 설계되어 있다. 그러나 범용 파일 시스템은 웹 캐시 워크로드에서 대부분 차지하는 작은 파일들을 효과적으로 처리하지 못하기 때문에 전체 웹 프락시 서버의 성능을 저하시키게 한다. 본 논문에서는 범용 파일 시스템을 사용하지 않는 원시(raw) 디스크 I/O 기법이 웹 프락시 서버의 디스크 I/O 오버헤드 개선에 얼마나 영향을 미치는지 그 성능 잠재력을 평가한다. 이를 위해 웹 프락시 서버를 위한 저장관리 시스템인 BSMS(Block-structured Storage Management System)를 설계하고 Squid 소스에 적용시켜 웹 프락시 서버를 구현하였다. 다양한 실험 평가를 통해 원시 디스크 I/O 기법이 웹 프락시 서버에서 디스크 I/O의 성능을 크게 개선시키는 좋은 방법임을 보였다.

  • The energy storage system consists of batteries, power conditioning system and energy management system. If ESS is installed and operated in the field, SAT(Site Acceptance Test) of ESS is being essentially required for the safety and performance of ESS. Furthermore, in order to more accurately and reliably validate the performance of the ESS in advanced countries, it has been required to perform not only performance testing by H/W equipments but also performance verification by S/W tool. Therefore, this paper proposes the modeling of portable test equipment in order to evaluate the performance and reliability of ESS by using the PSCAD/EMTDC S/W. And also, the prototype of 30[kW] scaled portable test equipments is implemented based on the S/W modeling. From the results of various simulations and testings such as power quality, LVRT and anti-islanding tests, it is confirmed that 30[kW] scaled portable test equipment is useful for SAT of ESS, because the simulation results of PSCAD/EMTDC are identical to them of 30[kW] test equipment at the same test conditions.

  • The next generation of optical storage systems requires higher numerical aperture(NA) objective lenses and shorter wavelength laser in order to improve the unit areal density. A blu-ray technology satisfies a miniaturization and a high capacity which are the requirements of the portable device. In this paper, we analyze the optical performance of hybrid micro lens and do active alignment. The hybrid micro lens is manufactured by using a wafer based fabrication technology. Optical components of hybrid micro lens are evaluated. The measurement of the optical power, the spot size and the wavefront error are performed to evaluate the hybrid micro lens with NA 0.85. Using the measured data, we estimate if the performance of hybrid micro lens corresponds to the designed performance. After the performance of hybrid micro lens is evaluated. the integrated optical pickup and the hybrid micro lens are assembled by active alignment using UV curing and the optical performance of SFFOP is satisfied with BD specifications.

  • 홀로그래픽 데이터 저장장치는 높은 데이터 전송률과 저장용량이 매우 크기 때문에 차세대 저장장치 후보 중 하나이다. 하지만 홀로그래픽 데이터 저장장치의 오류요인으로는 인접 페이지간 간섭 및 2차원 인접 심볼간 간섭이 있다. 또한 물리적 영향에 의해 발생되는 연집오류가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 연집오류를 정정하고 성능을 향상시키기 위해 수정된 로그-우도비값과 부가적 정보를 반복적으로 사용하는 방식을 제안한다. 제안하는 LDPC 곱부호는 일반적인 LDPC 부호와 비교하여 BER이 $10^{-5}$일 때, 약 0.5dB 성능 향상을 보였다.

  • The purpose of this work is to investigate main factors to design a solid-state hydrogen stroage system with magnesium hydride with 10 wt% graphite using numerical simulation tools. The heat transfer characteristic of this material was measured in order to perform the highly reliable simulation for this system. Based on the measured effective thermal conductivity, a transient heat and mass transfer simulation revealed that the total performance of hydrogen storage system is prone to depend on heat and mass transfer behaviors of hydrogen storage medium instead of its inherent kinetic rate for hydrogen adsorption. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the thermodynamic aspect between equlibrium presssure and temperature is one of key factor to design the hydrogen storage system with high performance using magnesium hydride.

  • The heat pump system is attractive alternatives to conventional heating and cooling systems owing to their higher energy utilization efficiency. The thermal loads of commercial and institutional buildings are generally cooling-dominated. In this study have been developed ice storage type heat pump system for cooling and heating by heat pipe. This system was practiced performance test on evaluation criteria for heat storage systems. Accomplished the actual proof examination and looked into the performance of the system. In this study, measurement and analysis of ice storage type heat pump system for cooling and heating by heat pipe. The heat pump unit COP appears 3.05 for cooling and 4.20 for heating. As a result, the method to energy saving and to using a substitute energy actively that is heat pump cooling & heating system is expected by heat pipe. Thermal storage capacity appears $19.5RTH/m^3$ for cooling.

  • The studies on railway vehicles equipped with various energy storage system is proceeded actively. These have a lot of advantages like the maximizing reuse of the regeneration energy, the decrease of peak power in catenary and the reduction of infrastructure costs through catenary-free travelling. This paper is focused on the development of the TPS (Train Performance Simulation) program for railway vehicles equipped with energy storage system. The battery and ultra-capacitor system are modeled using Matlab/Simulink among several energy storage systems. And the feasibility of simulation model is evaluated with the basic power distribution algorithm.
