This paper presents a method of seismic analysis for a 2-D fluid-structure-soil interaction systems. With this method, the fluid can be modeled by spurious free 4-node displacement-based fluid elements which use rotational penalty and mass projection technique in conjunction with the one point reduced integration scheme to remove the spurious zero energy modes. The structure and the near-field soil are discretized by the standard 2-D finite elements, while the unbounded far-field soil is represented by the dynamic infinite elements in the frequency domain. Since this method directly models the fluid-structure-soil interaction systems, it can be applied to the dynamic analysis of a 2-D liquid storage structure with complex geometry. Finally, results of seismic analyses are presented for a spent fuel storage tank embedded in a layered half-space and a massive concrete dam on a layered half-space.

The purpose of this study was to provide basic information on the rural house planning through the research on the use of the standard plans, architectural characteristics, importance of the planning points and housing satisfaction of the residents. 25 rural households scattered around Chungchong provinces-south and north- were surveyed for this study through the questionnaire method. The results of this study were as follows. The importance considered first was the low construction costs, and therefore the standard plans were not fully acknowledged and commonly used. Most real plans are the single-floor houses with 3 rooms, having 25-30 pyong magnitude. The planning points stressed highly were the storage space, convenience of the plan and size of the living room. Housing satisfaction level was high on direction of the facade, size of the living room and position of the bath/washing room, but low for the storage space.

The amount of data stored, processed and transmitted in the multi-media systems has been growing very fast, especially for the image data. For example, it takes 0.75Mbytes to store 512 12 pixels of 24-bit color image. A video signal with 30 frames per second will require 22.5Mbytes of storage space. To solve this problem, we need a good image compression technique. Recently, many researches on the image compression technique based on the wavelet transform are being pursued to overcome the problems of traditional JPEG. This paper describes the architecture and design of two-dimensional wavelet transform circuit. To keep the sire of the circuit small, we tried to minimize the internal storage space by using external SDRAM. This circuit was designed in Verilog-HDL, synthesized using Design Compiler and verified using Verilog-XL.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the quantity, residents` storing manner, and frequency in use of the stored items in bedrooms. and to comprehend the relevant desires of the residents in apartments. The results of the study are summarized as follows; 1. The quantity of the stored Items in bedrooms of apartments were measured after classified into 4 categories; Western style clothes, Korean costumes, underwears, and miscellaneous items. The quantity of the stored items In Rl(the largest bedrooms) was more than twice as many as in R2(the second largest bedrooms)2. The stored items were divided inte 3 categories according to the manner in which they were stored; those generally hung, those generally folded, and those hung or folded half-and-half.3. The frequency in use of the stored items was classified into 2 categories-those used "always" or "often" and those used "seasonal" or "seldom"·and shown diversely according to the kind of items4. It was shown that most residents in apartments were not much satisfied with storage space, i.e.. they generally fell the storage space insufficient. And they tended to want more wardrobes in Rl, and more shelves in R2.

This study attempts to examine the average number of stored items of apartment residents composed of 4 family members and to compare the quantitative differences of the stored items according to the apartment size and the stage of life-cycle. The finding shows that the number of items stored in apartments increases as the size of apartments and the stag of life-cycle of husband and wife living in the apartments of more than 180$m^2$ increase approcimately twice, compared to those in the apartments of less than 83$m^2$. Therefore, the storage space in apartments should be designed more effectively considering the change of the stored items in relation to of the apartment size and their stage of life-cycle. This study suggests the specific design of the built-in closets for clothings, sheets, accessories and shoes based on the number of the items.

본 논문에서는 MPEG 스트림에 대하여 VCR과 같은 기능을 제공하고 저장 공간을 최소화하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 특히 MPEG 스트림을 여러 개의 디스크에 효과적으로 스트라이핑 하는 방법과 전체 디스크에 걸쳐 분산되어 있는 스트림을 검색하기 위한 접근방안을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘에 대한 실험을 통하여 VOD 서버가 FF/FB기능을 제공하는 경우에 필요한 추가적인 저장 공간을 감소시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

The purpose of the study is to researdch clothing consumer behavior of men and women over age of 20 years and to find out the reasonable maximum utility on clothing behavior. The factors are eight distinguished parts such as sex, age, monthly income, occupation, floor space, number of room, number of family and place of residence. A common questionaire is introduced to survey the clothing consumption activity and the home background. Sources to measure them are gathered in the whole country including major cities. The questionaire of 915 correspondents of 368 males and 547 females is investigated for this research. Some of the data are analyzed by correlation, frequency, percentage, mean, and S.D. Others are investigated by ANOVA Test, x2-Test, and Multiple Range Test. The results from the survey are as followings: 1. Only four factors such as sex, monthly income, occupation, and floor space have a significance in the clothing consumption activity. 2. This survey reveals that many cloths have been kept in dead storage and concerns of utility have risen high. 3. This survey has shown that the correspondents have deep concerns about using colthing exchange store, clothing lending store, and trunk room to utilize dead storage clothing efficiently.

This paper presents a method of seismic analysis for a cylindrical liquid storage structure on horizontally layered half-space considering the effects of the interior fluid and exterior soil medium in the frequency domain. the horizontal and rocking motions of the structures are included in this study. The fluid motion is expressed in terms of analytical velocity potential function which can be obtained by solving the boundary value problem including the sloshing behavior of the fluid as well as deformed configuration of the structure. The effect of the fluid is included in the equation of motion as the impulsive added mass and a frequency-dependent convective added mass along the nodes on the wetted boundary with structure. The soil medium is presented using the 3-D axisymmetric finite elements and dynamic infinite elements. The present method can be applied to the structures embedded in ground as well as on ground since it models the soil medium directly as well as the structure. For the purpose of vertification dynamci characteristics of a tank on homogeneous half-space is analyzed. Comparison of the present results with those by others shows good agreement.

Recently increasing application of flash memory in mobile and ubiquitous related devices is due to its non-volatility, fast response time, shock resistance and low power consumption. Following this trend, SSD(Solid State Disk) using multiple flash chips, instead of hard-drive based storage system, started to widely used for its advantageous features. However, flash memory based storage subsystem should resolve the performance bottleneck for writing in perspective of speed and lifetime according to its disadvantageous physical property. In order to provide tangible performance, solutions are studied in aspect of reclaiming of invalid regions by decreasing the number of erasures and distributing the erasures uniformly over the whole memory space as much as possible. In this paper, we study flash memory recycling algorithms with multiple management units and demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides feasible performance. The proposed method utilizes the partitions of the memory space by utilizing threshold values and reconfigures the management units if necessary. The performance of the proposed policies is evaluated through a number of simulation based experiments.
