As information has been brought to public attention, information storage as well as information usability has been important. Rural information is produced in many areas and institutions. However, it is difficult to use rural information comprehensively. Since formats for management are various, it is difficult to have unified frame. In this research, a schema of database fer integrating rural data is designed to improve usability using dimensional modeling. First of all, rural data are analyzed for designing integrated rural database schema. Rural data used are 'National Agricultural Statistics' and 'Gun annual statistical report'. Analysis shows that there are three considerations; administrative district, time-dependency and classification of data. Considering these three requisite, we designed database schema using dimensional modeling. The reason of using dimensional modeling is to improve usability and effectiveness. If the database was designed using ER modeling, many tables have to be joined every searching time. Separately from integrated rural database schema, user's database schema is designed considering usability. Through user's database, users can modify data or generate new data and save these processes. These make it possible to use generated data repeatedly. We evaluate usability, contribution, and effectiveness of data manipulation on the integrated rural database. We propose an integrated rural database structure improving the accessibility and usability of rural data and information and verified the data model based on a practical example.

As the application area of XML extends to the database from simple contents, the technology for the storage and management of XML also grows with the XML. One of the main issues is how to efficiently manage the XML by using the previous DBMS. Many studies have been performed for the efficient management based on the XML application and database interface. However, the XML data is based on the object and has the hierarchical structure. Accorkingly, a modeling plan needs to store the XML data on the variety type of database. In this paper, for easier connection between XML application and database system, we have designed components for the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema. The method of the design for the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema is chosen the method of CBD.

In this paper, We describe a change set that is to manage historical information and to maintain ontologies during long term. We propose several storage policies of ontology using a change set. A change set includes a change operation set and temporal dimensions. A change operation set is composed with schema change operations and data change operations. We propose three storage policies that are storing all the change sets and storing the change sets and versions periodically, storing the change sets and the versions using sum of change operations. Also, we present the experimental results for evaluating the performance of different storage policies.
In this paper. we propose a storage system for XML documents using relational databases. Additional processing is required to store XML documents in the relational databases due to the discrepancy between XML structures and relational schema. This study aims to store XML documents with DTD in the relational databases. We propose the association inlining that exploits shred inlining and hybrid inlining and avoids relation fragments and excessive joins. Experiments show some improvements in the performance with the proposed method. The information of the storage structures is extracted from the simplified DTD. Existing map classes are extended in order to map various structures of XML to relational schema. Map classes are defined for various structures such as elements with multiple values, elements with multiple super elements, and elements with recursive structures through analyzing XML documents. Map files that are XML structures and used in generating SQL statements are created by using the extracted information of storage structures and map classes.

In this paper, we propose an effective method to convert and construct the MEDLINE, the world's largest biomedical bibliographic database, into linked data. To do this, we first derive the appropriate RDF schema by analyzing the MEDLINE record structure in detail, and convert each record into a valid RDF file in the derived schema. We apply the dual batch registration method to streamline the subject URI duplication checking procedure when merging all RDF files in the converted record unit and storing it in a single RDF triple storage. By applying this method, the number of RDF triple storage accesses for the subject URI duplication is reduced from 26,597,850 to 2,400, compared with the sequential configuration of linked data in units of RDF files. Therefore, it is expected that the result of this study will provide an important opportunity to eliminate the inefficiency in converting large volume bibliographic record sets into linked data, and to secure promptness and timeliness.

It is difficult to support collaborative design with a conventional ship CAD system which manages design information using files. In this research, file storage has been replaced with a database. This paper describes the OpenDIS which is an interface between the geometric kernel and the database. Its main purpose is to implement the CAD system which has the STEP database as the native storage. A prototype CAD system has been implemented using that OpenDIS interface which is implemented by OpenCascade geometric kernel and the Objectstore object-oriented database. The STEP methodology is used as the database schema. This CAD system has been applied to the hull design of a ship in order to verify the usefulness of the interface.

Most construction information is being recorded in the form of electronic document. However, design documents generated in current practice are not suitable in share and exchange of information for disaster management. This study proposes how to develop th e XML Schema based semantic model of structural calculation document (SCD) for systematic storage and management of SCD information. in addition, 5 basic data types are developed for various expression forms appeared in the structural calculation documents. A prototype semantic model for steel bridge superstructure is developed based on the proposed method, and it is observed that the proposed method can be effectively used to build a standardized semantic model of SCD.
In the area of remote sensing, an immense number of images are continuously generated by various remote sensing systems. These images must then be managed by a database system efficient storage and retrieval. There are many types of image database systems, among which the content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system is the most advanced. CBIR utilizes the metadata of images including the feature data for indexing and searching images. Therefore, the performance of image retrieval is significantly affected by the storage method of the image metadata. There are many features of images such as color, texture, and shape. We mainly consider the shape feature because shape can be identified in any remote sensing while color does not always necessarily appear in some remote sensing. In this paper, we propose a metadata representation and storage method for image search based on shape features. First, we extend MPEG-7 to describe the shape features which are not defined in the MPEG-7 standard. Second, we design a storage schema for storing images and their metadata in a relational database system. Then, we propose an efficient storage method for managing the shape feature data using a Wavelet technique. Finally, we provide the performance results of our proposed storage method.

Cloud computing today provides huge computational resources, storage capacity, and many kinds of data services. Data sharing in the cloud is the practice of exchanging files between various users via cloud technology. The main difficulty with file sharing in the public cloud is maintaining privacy and integrity through data encryption. To address this issue, this paper proposes an Enhanced RSA encryption schema (ERSA) for data sharing in the public cloud that protects privacy and strengthens data integrity. The data owners store their files in the cloud after encrypting the data using the ERSA which combines the RSA algorithm, XOR operation, and SHA-512. This approach can preserve the confidentiality and integrity of a file in any cloud system while data owners are authorized with their unique identities for data access. Furthermore, analysis and experimental results are presented to verify the efficiency and security of the proposed schema.
XML is becoming the de facto standard for data exchange over the Internet as a semistructured data which properties are irregular and incomplete. Therefore, to handle these data efficiently. what we use storage devices and storage techniques are Primary factors. In this paper, we developed storage techniques, which take the virtues of an object-relational database and support various query types needed for XML query languages without regard to the DTD. The techniques are capable with connecting naturally with conventional data and reducing overheads caused by the characteristics of an XML data model.
