The study aimed to classify the types of domestic dormitory furniture, and analyze the characteristics of each furniture type based on the empirical research methodology. The study consisted of literature review and field visit followed by survey and in-depth interview. The researchers collected 140 images of furniture from the web sites of 87 universities. Using affinity diagram, the dormitory furniture was classified into four different types: single fixed type, single semi-fixed type, multi fixed type, and multi semi-fixed type. The finding showed that the use of single fixed type was dominant in the domestic dormitory room, which had competitive price and easy maintenance. Both single fixed type and multi fixed type turned out to be lack of storage space. Meanwhile, both single semi-fixed type and multi semi-fixed type got the high value on the space efficiency due to the multi function. However, these two types could only be applied to a wide space enough for the furniture to be transformed and extended. The study analyzed the main characteristics of the dormitory furniture according to the type classification, and it is expected that this empirical study could work as a medium and database for the upcoming dormitory furniture design studies.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic information far planning Dinning-Kitchen storage space. The self-administered questionnaire method were used for this study. The result were analyzed SPSS package program. The major findings were summarized as follows: The size of apartment was related to satisfaction of Dinning-Kitchen storage furiture and was related to storage usage.

The purpose of this study was to present basic data for better space plan of the apartment housing. It attempted to examine the possession and space usage of furniture and housing goods in three type floor plan. It also studied in relation to socidemographic variables and physical variables. The major findings were as follows :1) Housewife age, educational level, family income, number of family members were affected variables to the possession of housing goods and furniture except furniture possession to housewife age.2) It appeared similarity in the furnishing of housing goods and furniture in case of same floor plan.3) Generally, the space of living room was used often in furnishing of furniture and housing goods. 4) Linear arrangement of sofa set and corner arrangement of Anbang furniture are a tendency to get a effective space for activities in living room.5) The size of floor plan space was the most powerful variable to explain the possession and space usage of housing goods and furniture.6) The scarce of space result in pressing the household living space hard. The storage space should be planned and chosen after consideration of human factors according to the tastes, character of the users, and the space factors according to the composition of unit plan and the size of each living space. In case of the small size plan, particularly, it needed to the Built-in furniture as a effective method.

This study is purposed to understand the spacial usage of the furniture in detail for interior architecture. Many documents have prescribed the spacial furniture at random. While modernist have been interested in the spacial usage of the furniture, the importance of the spacial furniture stands out in architectural space. Since long ago, a great deal of effort has been put into creating a relational harmony between the space and furniture. The villa, the weekend home of the Savoye family, was built between 1928 and 1931. Particularly, the villa Savoye was focused for this study. Le Corbusier viewed desks and case pieces for storage as architecture, and the unite furniture and architecture by developing cabinets in standard modules that could be painted either the wall color to become part of the wall or in contrasting colors to stand out as furniture. Spacial furniture was used architecturally in the interior as well, it gives the space an unexpected playfulness with the color of the finishing materials. The various usage of the Spacial furniture constitute an element of great architectural richness. They have a unique principle based on emotional order and make the man move to another space and experience the spacial connection. In particular, the furniture that was considered by Corbuisier have rational function, division of the space, leaning the structure, and so on. The furniture as the element of the space composition can change the architectural space and view as well as connecting each other. Spacial furniture appear as physical ones called wall, floor, column, and existential value as a living space.

Most of the furniture in the past was dedicated to its original use such as storage and accommodation of articles or sitting tools, but the concept of furniture in contemporary indoor spaces is gradually increasing in its meaning while exchanging close impacts with other spatial components. Indeed, in contemporary furniture, a component other than furniture constituting a space would sometimes serve the common roles of furniture or sometimes furniture would include all indoor objects used to make people's living more convenient. This study reviewed the meaning of furniture and changes in its roles in contemporary indoor spaces and summarized the characteristics presenting a few examples. First, in contemporary indoor spaces, furniture as an independent object does not having a meaning any more. The fusion of functions with other components constituting indoor spaces is the most important characteristics in contemporary furniture and it has been already attempted in diverse ways through fusion with buildings surpassing fusion with other pieces of furniture or electric home appliances. Second, the arrangement conforming to the roles required by spaces and diverse forms of attempts are essential. Since furniture is an item the most closely related to human residential life, studies on human behaviors in spaces must precede. The efforts to enhance work efficiencies and used limited spaces more efficiently will be continued and explorations of new forms should be also continued. Third, with regards to manufacturing methods, new technologies should be applied more widely and furniture materials must be diversified through the use of new materials including not only cutting-edge new materials but also all the materials that can be applied to furniture such as conventional natural materials and environment friendly materials that can be recycled.

The purpose of this study is to develop kitchen furniture design for 40-pyung apartment Houses based on stored item of Cooking, Eating and Utility Area. The research data is gotten at a field study of stored items of Cooking, Eating and Utility Area and depth interview. The results of this study were as follows; 1)The kitchen furniture the preparation unit and the sink, the kitchen table, the heating unit and the service table, arranged at the tall storage. 2)The total bulk considered and holding volume ($2.7m^3$) with ground clearance (40%) planned with about $4.21m^3$. 3)Assumed at height and 162cm did a lower part height with 860mm and the upper depth 340mm, did with 700mm where raises. the storage the ceiling which raises will select and considered and with 2200mm did. 4)Arrangement of the kitchen the kitchen form which is an open type (L/DK or L.D.K) arranged many in forms of letter.

The intention is to explore the differentiation or evolution of the chest of drawers in traditional Korean, Western, and Japanese furniture in order to know how the drawers currently becoming popular in Korea were developed historically. The Korean furniture centered in $Jang$, $Nong$, and $Bandazi$ used in the tradition generally, the Western furniture involved in drawers, and the Japanese furniture called $Tansu$ in Japanese called the chest of drawers were focused on the study because the Western and Japanese drawers affected the development of the chest of drawers in Korean furniture during the late 19th century and the Japanese Ruling Era, respectively. As a result, the Korean furniture was not shown the chest of drawers but only small drawers that store small items located in the upper part of $Jang$, $Nong$, and $Bandazi$ mostly used as wardrobe, while the traditional Japanese furniture developed from Edo period (1607-1868) had showed a wide variety of chest of drawers like $Isho-dansu$, $Mizuya-dansu$, $Kusuri-dansu$, $Cho-dansu$, $Funa-dansu$, $Kaidan-dansu$, $Nagamochi-dansu$, $Kuruma-dansu$, and so on, for specialized storage. And in the traditional Western furniture were presented the chest like a large-box form, mule chest, chest of drawers, cabinet, commode, highboy, tallboy, wardrobe, secretary drawer and bureau with document drawer invented and evolved throughout the 15th-18th century. Therefore, the chest of drawers in contemporary Korean furniture is supposed to adopt the Japanese and Western drawer form and to ensure the continual production from the obvious utility of the design with decoration for our current everyday lives.

Handling the manufacured goods is the most cost-consuming task in material handling system in wooden furniture industries. Fully automated warehouse for cartoned goods of a furniture manufacturing company was analized to provide plant engineers and managers with some important informations on the utility and profitability of the automated storage and retrieval system(AS/RS). Process-oriented simulation modeling tech-niques were used to describe the system and to propose some alternatives to promote the efficiency of AS/RS. Simulation report could be inter-preted as follows: 1. Warehouse for the furniture goods must be designed in accordance with reliable material handling program and constructed with suitable equipments depending on the specification of packed products. 2. An excess of palletized products induced the indigestion and the inefficiency of AS/RS of the furniture industry and put this high-costly system into the shade. 3. Overcrowded AS/RS of the furniture factories could regain its material handling function by cutting down the deposit of products into the automated warehouse. For this purpose, reducing the regular output and direct delivering the outside products to the destination should be considered as the definite counterplan. And additional operation of conventional handy warehouse was also expected to improve the efficiency of main AS/RS.

This study purpose is to design the stand-hangers that can be fabricated conveniently and effectly for manufacture and the market situation of Piwoori Furniture. The study scope is from the research to design prototype in a design process. This study explored the development of knock-down hanger which can be easily assembled and be newly oriented to hanger style. The hangers were made into two main parts with lower part composed as legs, drawers, and containers, and with lower part composed as a shelf and hanger-bear As they are emphasized by the function and usefulness, small sized clothing, underwear, and socks can be stored, and a lot of pants and jackets can be hanged by adjusting the height Therefore, it is not difficult for them to be packed, stored, and transported by being easily assembled and disassembled from the adaption of the knock-down system. Furthermore, the hangers made of the natural wood show the quality of texture and appearance.

The dormitory, a common facility for college students, is being deployed and used in terms of both efficient use of space for students and comfortable living. Among them, I was in charge of the rest of the students in the dormitory and investigated and analyzed the dormitory bed which occupied the largest portion of the indoor space. The purpose of this study is to investigate the present condition of bed arrangement and the use condition of the university dormitory in Seoul, and finally to design the bed design which is practical and maximize storage for the students in the dormitory space that accommodates a large number of people, Respectively.
