This study was performed to clarify the effect of oculo-acupuncture (OA) on change of serum gastrin concentration. Twenty-three clinically healthy mongrel dogs were used in this study. This study was comprised of two experiments. In experiment 1, the effect of OA (stomach/spleen region) with comparison of non-a cup oint was examined. On the other hand, the effect of OA (stomach/spleen region) with comparison by body acupuncture (BL-21) was also examined in experiment 2. Serum gastrin levels were measured on before, 0, 30, 60 and 120 minutes after treatment in both non-acupoint and stomach/spleen region groups, and BL-21 The results showed that significant decreases in serum gastrin level was detected on 30 mins(p<0.05) after OA when compared with that of non-acupoint group. Serum gastrin concentrations with OA at stomach/spleen region group were significantly decreased on 60 mins (p<0.05) and 120 mins (p<0.01) compared with those of the AP at BL21 group. In conclusion, it was demonstrated that OA at stomach/spleen region had significantly decreased serum gastrin levels in dogs and OA at stomach/spleen region decreased serum gastrin concentration more than that body acupuncture at BL-21.

Objectives : This study was carried out to investigate the correlation of meridian system in oriental medicine and muscular system in western medicine. Methods : Muscles were assigned to meridians by their main functions and the acupoints on them. New mutual relationships between meridians in lower limb were studied based on the muscular function. Results : In gluteal & femoral region, iliopsoas & quadratus femoris are assigned to spleen & stomach meridians, gluteus maximus & hamstrings to urinary bladder & kidney meridians, adductor muscle groups to liver meridian, gluteus medius & minimus & iliotibial tract to gall bladder meridian. In crural region, anterior crural muscles are assigned to stomach meridian, lateral crural muscles to gall bladder meridian, suferficial posterior crural muscles to urinary bladder (& kidney) meridian, deep posterior crural muscles to liver, spleen, kidney meridians. In lower limb, urinary bladder meridian and stomach meridian lead the muscular functions and correspond to each other, while spleen meridian assists stomach meridian, and kidney meridian assists urinary bladder meridian. Conclusions : Muscles may be assigned to meridians by their functions and the acupoints on them. From the view of muscular function, Yang meridians lead Yin meridians in lower limb.
This study was performed to clarify the effect of oculo-acupuncture(OA) on change of gastric contraction. Twenty-four clinically healthy mongrel dogs were used and divided into two groups regarding feeding condition; non-acupoint group (n=6) and Stomach/spleen region group (n=6) were stimulated by OA. In addition, 12 dogs were fasted for 24 hrs and divided into two groups; non-acupoint group (n=6) and Stomach/speen region group (n=6) was stimulated by OA. The change in frequency of gastric contraction was measured via abdominal ultrasound before, 0, 30, 60 and 120 minutes after OA. Significant differences were detected at 30 mins (p<0.05), 60 mins (p<0.05) and 120 mins (p<0.01) in the Stomach/speen region group, compared with those of non-acupoint group in feeding condition.
Objectives : This study is aimed to search for the effective application of the Sa-Am acupuncture(舍岩鍼法) for the treatment of diarrhea. Methods : The classification and the treatment for diarrhea in ${\ll}$Sa-Am-Do-In-Chim-Gu-Yo-Kyul(舍岩道人鍼灸要訣)${\gg}$ was compared with those of ${\ll}$Dong-Eui-Bo-Kham(東醫寶鑑)${\gg}$ and ${\ll}$Chim-Gu-Dae-Sung(鍼灸大成)${\gg}$ Results & Conclusions : In ${\ll}$Dong-Eui-Bo-Kham(東醫寶鑑)${\gg}$, diarrhrea was classified into 20 classes and mainly treated with herbal medicine and additionally with acupuncture treatment. Ashi (nearby) points in lower abdomen and sacral region were often used as well as the points on Spleen meridian(SP) and Stomach meridian(ST) to treat diarrhea in ${\ll}$Chim-Gu-Dae-Sung(鍼灸大成)${\gg}$ According to ${\ll}$Sa-Am-Do-In-Chim-Gu-Yo-Kyul(舍岩道人鍼灸要訣)${\gg}$, Diarrhrea was classified into 6 classes; wet diarrhrea (濡泄; kidney damage), abrupt diarrhrea (暴泄; spleen damage), damp diarrhrea (濕泄; stomach damage), fire diarrhrea (火泄; heart dryness), ki(qi) diarrhrea (氣泄; lung damage) and cold diarrhrea (冷泄; liver damage). Sa-Am acupuncture seems to be applied on the basis of more precise diagnoses of organs and meridians and provide with more fundamental treatments in comparison with classical acupuncture.
This study was designed to evaluate the gastroprotective activity of cirsilineol in hydrochloric acid (HCl)/ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model. Cirsilineol was administered at the doses of 20 and 40 mg/kg in HCl/ethanol-induced rats. The gastroprotective ability was verified by determining the ulcer score, total acidity, hemoglobin, inflammatory cytokines, lipid peroxides, and enzymatic antioxidants superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in gastric tissue and serum biochemical analysis. The results showed a favorable increase in the hemoglobin level, antioxidant enzymes (SOD and CAT), restored electrochemical balance (carbon dioxide & anion gap) while a noticeable decrease in ulcer index, total acidity, lipid peroxides, inflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1 beta [IL-1β], IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha) in rats treated with the cirsilineol. The serum biochemical analysis on liver markers (alkaline phosphatases, alanine aminotransferase, and aspartate aminotransferase), kidney markers (urea, creatinine, albumin, globulin, total protein), and lipid profile (triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein, total cholesterol) were attenuated by cirsilineol treatment in rats. Histopathology showed enhanced gastric protection and preserved the integrity of gastric mucosa upon cirsilineol administration. These results ultimately suggest that cirsilineol has gastroprotective effects that prevent the development of gastric ulcer.
Objectives & Methods : This study aims to investigate the application of the principle of the mutual communication between organ and bowel(臟腑相通) on Tong's acupuncture. We classified the frequently used Tong's acupuncture points according to the principle of the mutual communication between organ and bowel. Results & Conclusions : Considering the locations and indications of the most frequently used points among the 740 master Tong's acupuncture points, we could reach the following conclusions; 1. The chief virtues of 66 master Tong's acupuncture points could be explained by the principle of mutual communication between organ and bowel. 2. Among the relationships of mutual communication between organ and bowel, the most frequently applied relationship was relationship which applied to 16 master Tong's acupuncture points, and the , , , , and followed. 3. Considering the body regions, 13 out of 66 master Tong's acupuncture points which the relationship of mutual communication between organ and bowel was applied to, were located at the 1-1 region, and the same number at the U region, the others were at the 7-7, 3-3, 2-2, 4-4, 10-10, 6-6, 5-5 regions in the order of the number of the points, and none at the 9-9 region.
Methods: It was studied on the 47 kinds of oriental medical literature for fecal blood. Results: Fecal blood means bleeding with faces from anus and indicates all the three cases such as blooding before and after evacuation, evacuation of feces mixed with blood, and simple melena. The main causes are fire(火) and deficiency of spleen qi (脾氣虛). According to the color of fecal blood and the region of the bleeding, first, if the blood color is dark-red and blood discharges after emptying the bowels, it is called deposited poison into Jang(臟毒) or distant bleeding(遠血), and if the color of blood is clear and bowel emptying occurs after bleeding, it is bloody stool due to intestinal wind(腸風) or nearby bleeding(近血). For treating methods(治法). removing heat from the blood and stopping bleeding(淸熱凉血止血), removing dampness and stopping bleeding(淸熱除濕止血), invigorating Ki for promoting Hul-controJ(益氣攝血), warming the spleen and stomach to dispel cold and stopping bleeding(溫中散寒止血) etc are applied. As for the treating prescriptionl(治法), a Hwangtotang(黃土湯). Jeoksodudanggwitang(赤小豆當歸散). Gwihwasan(槐花散). Wipungtang(胃風湯). Hwangnyeonhwan modifying(黃連丸加減). Samultang modifying(四物湯加減). Paedoksan modifying(敗毒散加減) etc are used. As for acupuncture and moxibustion(鍼灸療法). if etiology(病因) is damp-heat(濕熱), acupuncture(刺鍼) at Janggang(長强); Charyo(BL 32); Sangeoheo(ST 37)(上巨虛); Seungsan(BL 57)(承山穴), and in case of deficiency of spleen Gi(脾氣虛), acupunture(刺鍼) with tonification(補法) at I Baek(EX-UE 2)(二白); Gwanwon(CC 4)(關元); Joksamni(ST 36)(足三里) Taebaek(SP 3)(太白); Hoeeum(CC 1)(會陰穴), or mxibuston(灸) at Baekoe(GC 2O)(百會); Myeongmun9GC (命門) or the point of opposite to umbilicus among spinal vertebrae(脊中對臍穴) are used. The external treatment(外治療法) was consisted of plastering umbilicus therapy(敷臍法) and enema therapy(灌腸法).
Though the literature study on the urine therapy, we concluded as follows. It Almost use urine, healthy child's of under 10-12 age, and the gathering takes the middle part of urine. It Almost drinks fresh urine warmly. It drinks urine with Zingiber is Rhizoma Recens juice and Allii Radix or Sappan Lignum and Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix which is hwa-hyeol-geo-eo medicine in vomiting blood nosebleeding, with Allii Radix and Sojae Semen Praeparatum in a headache, with bile of pig in symptoms of shang han jue yin, with Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens juice Ginseng Radix's powder in doing the colon good or person have weak spleen and stomach as well as deficiency of qi with Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen or Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens juice in heat movement by deficiency of blood (eum-heo-hwa-dong) with Perillae Fructus, Mori Cortex and Adenophorae Radix which hwa-dam-ji-hae medicine and sparagi Radix, Liriopis Tuber Schizandrae Fructus which is bo-eum medicine in a cough by deficiency of blood(eum-heo-hae-su). We examined the cause of a disease outbreak in rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss, which were adapting to a seawater in an aquaculture farm in Jeju on April, 2013. Most of the diseased fish showed a severe ulcer on the skin, enlarged spleen, expanded stomach and hemorrhage of abdominal and pyloric region. Although no parasites, fungi or viruses were isolated from diseased fish, over 200 same bacterial colonies were isolated from liver, spleen and kidney. Nucleotide sequences of the 16S rDNA gene of the bacterium in this study showed 100% identity with Vibrio anguillarum. This study is the first report of V. anguillarum infection in rainbow trout during sea adaption in Korea.

Purpose: The Gated cardiac blood pool scan is non-invasive method that a quantitative evaluation of left ventricular function. Also this scan have shown the value of radionuclide ejection fraction measurements during the course of chemotherapy as a predictor of cardiac toxicity. Therefore a reliable method of monitoring its cardiotoxic effects is necessary. the purpose of this study is to minimize the overestimate of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) by modified body position to reduce the influence of scattered rays from surrounding organs of the heart in the background region of interest. Materials and Methods: Gated cardiac blood pool scan using in vivo $^{99m}Tc$-red blood cell (RBC) was carried out in 20 patients (mean $44.8{\pm}8.6$ yr) with chemotherapy for a breast carcinoma. Data acquisition requires about 600 seconds and 24 frames of one heart cycle by the multigated acquisition mode, Synchronization deteriorates toward the end of the cycle and with the distance from the trigger signal (R-wave) by ECG gating. Gated cardiac blood pool scan was studied with conventional method (supine position and the detector head in $30-45^{\circ}$ left anterior oblique position and caudal $10-20^{\circ}$ tilt) and compared with modified method (left lateral flexion position with 360 mL of drinking water). LVEF analysis was performed by using the automatically computer mode. Results: The ROI counts of modified scan method were lower than LV conventional method ($1429{\pm}251$ versus $1853{\pm}243$, <0.01). And LVEF of modified method was also decrease compared with conventional method ($58.3{\pm}5.6%$ versus $65.3{\pm}6.1%$, <0.01). Imaging analysis indicated that stomach was expanded because of water and spleen position was changed to lateral inferior compared with conventional method. Conclusion: This study shows that the modified method in MUGA reduce the influence of scattered rays from surrounding organs. Because after change the body position to left lateral flexion and drinking water, the location of spleen, left lobe of liver and stomach had changed and they could escaped from background ROI. Therefore, modified method could help to minimize the overestimate LVEF (%).
