The characteristics of the buckling analysis module for stiffened composite structures were studied in this paper. Composite stiffened structures have geometrical asymmetry and material properties asymmetry. Due to these reason, postbuckling analysis was essential and the characteristics of postbuckling analysis modules for ABAQUS were researched. Static analysis module was considered. By considering the material nonlinearity, progressive failure mechanism was applied and buckling strength was estimated

Based on third-order shear deformation shell theory, the present paper investigates post-buckling properties of eccentrically stiffened metal foam curved shells/panels having initial geometric imperfectness. Metal foam is considered as porous material with uniform and non-uniform models. The single-curve porous shell is subjected to in-plane compressive loads leading to post-critical stability in nonlinear regime. Via an analytical trend and employing Airy stress function, the nonlinear governing equations have been solved for calculating the post-buckling loads of stiffened geometrically imperfect metal foam curved shell. New findings display the emphasis of porosity distributions, geometrical imperfectness, foundation factors, stiffeners and geometrical parameters on post-buckling properties of porous curved shells/panels.
The analytical solutions for the free vibration and buckling of cross-ply laminated composite cylindrical shell with axial stiffeners(stringers) and circumferential stiffeners(rings), that is, orthogonally stiffened shells, are presented using the energy method. The stiffeners are assumed to be an integral part of the shell and have been directly included in analysis(it's called discrete stiffener theory). The effect of the parameters such as the stacking sequences, the shell thickness, the shell length-to-radius ratio are studied. By comparison with the previously published analytical results for the stiffened cylindrical shells, it is shown that natural frequencies can be determined with adequate accuracy.
The Object of this paper which study for natural frequency of Offshore Wind Turbine Tower with Composite Material and Steel. The Composit Material Tower consist of shell type and stiffened shell type which is made by the method of Filament Winding. And the component of Composite material is used by the Roving RS220PE-535. The Steel Material Tower consist of shell type and stiffened shell type which is made of Mild steel. The Type of Stiffener is hats. This paper compare the Composit Material Offshore Wind Turbine Tower with the Steel Material Offshore wind Turbine Tower and study for Natural Frequency and Mode Shapes.
The free vibration analysis of stiffened laminated composite plates has been performed using the layered (zigzag) finite element method based on the first order shear deformation theory. The layers of the laminated plate is modeled using nine-node isoparametric degenerated flat shell element. The stiffeners are modeled as three-node isoparametric beam elements based on Timoshenko beam theory. Bilinear in-plane displacement constraints are used to maintain the inter-layer continuity. A special lumping technique is used in deriving the lumped mass matrices. The natural frequencies are extracted using the subspace iteration method. Numerical results are presented for unstiffened laminated plates, stiffened isotropic plates, stiffened symmetric angle-ply laminates, stiffened skew-symmetric angle-ply laminates and stiffened skew-symmetric cross-ply laminates. The effects of fiber orientations (ply angles), number of layers, stiffener depths and degrees of orthotropy are examined.
An efficient procedure to obtain the optimal stacking sequence and the minimum weight of stiffened laminated composite curved panels under several loading conditions and stiffener layouts has been developed based on the finite element method and the genetic algorithm that is powerful for the problem with integer variables. Often, designing composite laminates ends up with a stacking sequence optimization that may be formulated as an integer programming problem. This procedure is applied for a problem to find the stacking sequence having a maximum critical buckling load factor and the minimum weight. The object function in this case is the weight of a stiffened laminated composite shell. Three different types of stiffener layouts with different loading conditions are investigated to see how these parameters influence on the stacking sequence optimization of the panel and the stiffeners. It is noticed from the results that the optimal stacking sequence and lay-up angles vary depending on the types. of loading and stiffener spacing.
The effects of boundary conditions on vibration characteristics for the ring stiffered composite cylindrical shells are investigated by theoretical and experimental method. In the theoretical procedure, the Love's thin shell theory combined with the discrete stiffener theory to consider the ring stiffening effect are adopted to derive the frequency equation. In experiment, the impact exciting method is used to obtain the vibraton results. Five different boundary conditions: clamped-clamped, simply supported-simply supported, free-free, clamped-free, clamped-simply supported are considered in this study.

The effects of boundary conditions on natural frequencies for the ring stiffened composite cylindrical shells are investigated by theoretical method. The Love's thin shell theory and the discrete stiffener theory with beam functions in the Ritz procedure are used to derive the frequency equation. Five different boundary conditions such as clamped-clamped, simply supported-simply supported, free-free, clamped-free, clamped-simply supported are considered in this study. Also, the experimental investigation is presented to validate the theoretical results.
This article describes a simple and cost effective fabrication procedure by using hand lay-up technique that is employed for the manufacturing of thin-walled axi-symmetric composite shell structures with carbon, glass and hybrid woven fabric composite materials. The hand lay-up technique is very commonly used in aerospace and marine industries for making the complicated shell structures. A generic fabrication procedure is presented in this paper aimed at manufacture of plain Carbon Fabric Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) and Glass Fabric Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) shells using hand lay-up process. This paper delivers a technical breakthrough in fabrication of composite shell structures without any joints and wrinkling. The manufacture of stiffened CFRP shells, laminated CFRP shells and hybrid (carbon/glass/epoxy) composite shells which are valued by the aerospace industry for their high strength-to-weight ratio under axial loading have also been addressed in this paper. A fabrication process document which describes the major processing steps of the composite shell manufacturing process has been presented in this paper. A study of microstructure of the glass fabric/epoxy composite, carbon fabric/epoxy composite and hybrid carbon/glass/fabric epoxy composites using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) has been also carried out in this paper.
This study using ABAQUS investigates the nonlinear vibration responses when thermal and random acoustic loads are applied simultaneously to the stiffened composite panels. The nonlinear vibration analyses are performed with changing the number of stiffeners, and layup condition of the skin panel. The panel and stiffeners both are modeled using shell elements. Thermal load (ΔT) is assumed to have the temperature gradient through the thickness direction of the stiffened composite panel. The random acoustic load is represented as stationary white-Gaussian random pressure with zero mean and uniform magnitude over the panels. The thermal postbuckling analysis is conducted using RIKS method, and the nonlinear dynamic analysis is performed using Hilber-HughesTaylor time integration method. When ΔT = 25.18 ℃ and SPL = 105 dB are applied to the stiffened composite panel, the effect of the number of stiffener is investigated, and the snap-through responses are observed for composite panels without stiffeners and with 1 and 3 stiffeners. For investigation of the effect of layup condition of the skin panel, when ΔT = 38.53 ℃ and SPL = 110 dB are applied to the stiffened composite panel, the snap-through responses are shown when the fiber angle of the skin panel is 0°, 30°, and 60°.
