A Robust Staff Line Height and Staff Line Space Estimation for the Preprocessing of Music Score Recognition (악보인식 전처리를 위한 강건한 오선 두께와 간격 추정 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a robust pre-processing module for camera-based Optical Music Score Recognition (OMR) on mobile device. The captured images likely suffer for recognition from many distortions such as illumination, blur, low resolution, etc. Especially, the complex background music sheets recognition are difficult. Through any symbol recognition system, the staff line height and staff line space are used many times and have a big impact on recognition module. A robust and accurate staff line height and staff line space are essential. Some staff line height and staff line space are proposed for binary image. But in case of complex background music sheet image, the binarization results from common binarization algorithm are not satisfactory. It can cause incorrect staff line height and staff line space estimation. We propose a robust staff line height and staff line space estimation by using run-length encoding technique on edge image. Proposed method is composed of two steps, first step, we conducted the staff line height and staff line space estimation based on edge image using by Sobel operator on image blocks. Each column of edge image is encoded by run-length encoding algorithm Second step, we detect the staff line using by Stable Path algorithm and removal the staff line using by adaptive Line Track Height algorithm which is to track the staff lines positions. The result has shown that robust and accurate estimation is possible even in complex background cases.

  • The present study investigates experimentally the characteristics of liquid jet, which is, the spray flow in the normal direction of the air stream under the flow conditions of air velocity $110\sim125m/s$. The present study adopts with the flow visualization technique using a short duration light bulb and the image processing analyse with CCD camera. Two types of injector were used: one is a flat plate type, and the other is backward facing step type, which height are 5, 8, 10mm. Dispersion of liquid jet can be represented by gray level of CCD camera. In the upstream of liquid jet, the backward facing step shows better liquid jet penetration. However, in the downstream. mean droplet size for backward facing step injector is smaller than that for flat plate injector

  • A numerical investigation has been carried out on recirculation zone formed downstream of a compressible flow over a backward facing step. The study has been performed by solving Two-Dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The system of governing equations has been solved, using an explicit Harten-Yee Non- MUSCL Modified flux type TVD scheme and a zero-equation algebraic turbulence model to calculate the eddy viscosity coefficient. The recirculation region dimensions are characterized over a range of Mach numbers of fixed step height 5mmThe detail of recirculation zone such as pressure, temperature, recirculation length, strength etc are reported. The variations of these characteristics due to change of Mach number are also presented.

  • This study purport to establish the size was flexibly receptive to consumers. Sample size was 6555 women in their 20's and 29 variables from the diret anthropometric data were applied to analyze. The preliminary survey was taken from Febraury 10. 1997 to May 23 1997 and the measurement was done from April 14, 1997 to June 10. 1997. Follwing the KS regulations Hanbok were given 3cm intervals each for the bust and hip girth and cm for th height. Size system was presented for the usage of developing the pattern of hanbok by analyzing the result of the regression coefficient and referring to the distribution chart of the back length and the neck to ulnar styloid length. When establishing the standard size for the ready-made Hanbok like Western style clothes it's convenient for both consumer and producer to present both bust girth and height. To enhance the fitting of Chogori we used the flatness ratio of bust as the reference for grouping styles of body. in the case of Chima-\ulcorner해갸 4 brackets are developed. First step was bust girth 78cm height 15cm second was bust girth 5852cm5 height 160cm third was bust girth 82cm height 165cm fourth was bust girth 88cm height 16cm.

Kinematic Analyses of Women's Pole Vault in IAAF World Championships, Daegu 2011 (2011 대구 세계육상선수권대회 여자 장대높이뛰기경기 기술의 운동학적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to perform the kinematic analyses of the women's pole vault skills in IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011. Subjects were the 1st through 8th place finishers in the pole vault. The kinematic analyses were divided into four phases: two dimensional run up analysis, and three dimensional analyses for the remaining plant, swing up, and extension phases. Run-up variables consisted of run up distance, number of steps, average step length, ratio of step length to height, average velocity at the final 5~10 m, approach position. Three variables were analyzed during plant: pole angle, center of gravity (COG) velocity, and COG takeoff angle. Swing up phase variables included: pole flection angle, COG velocity (horizontal, vertical, resultant), COG trajectory and bar approach angle of COG. Compared to the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, the average vault height increased, while run up velocity and approach position were almost unchanged. However, horizontal velocity during the last two steps of the final approach decreased noticeably compared to speeds from 1990. These results reflect the change in both technique and physical fitness in pole vaulters. During extension, the peak height of COG surpassed the clearance height by an average of 0.11m. These specific results can help coaches and athletes modify training and improve performance.

A Study on the Evaluation Index of Crown Height given Marine Environmental Factors and Ship Characteristics (해상 환경 및 선박 특성을 반영한 마루높이 평가지표에 관한 연구)

  • Korea has recently selected twenty-two ports for reinforcement breakwater installation of protection facilities, due to rise sea level caused by global warming and increase in the number of typhoon and tsunami. In addition, due to consistent enlargement of ship size, dredging for depth of water for large vessel's berthing and enlargement of berth is under construction. However, no definite construction plan for the reinforcement and lengthening of crown height, which has close relationship with the safe mooring of ships. In this study, domestic and foreign design criteria of crown height were analyzed, and the crown height evaluation index and evaluation method were developed by dividing it into environment and ship elements. In particular, in the case of ship evaluation index, each step was set up in 4 steps according to domestic and foreign regulations, weighted by each step, and the safety level of crown height was evaluated. As a result of the mooring safety simulation of the 100,000 ton cruise ship, the appropriate minimum crown height standard was derived to be 3 m above A.H.H.W. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data to propose the crown height standard reflecting ship characteristics.

Surface Morphological Evolution of (0001) α-Al2O3 Substrate During Low Temperature Annealing (저온 열처리 과정에서 일어나는 (0001) α-Al2O3 기판 표면의 형상 변화)

  • Evolution of surface morphology of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ substrate was investigated as a function of annealing temperature and time. Commercial (0001) ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ single crystal substrates were annealed in the range of $600-1000^{\circ}C$ in air. At $600^{\circ}C$, step-terrace structure started to be formed on the substrate. However, the surface roughness on the terrace was still considerable and a number of islands were observed on the step edges as well as the terraces. As the annealing temperature increased, the islands were absorbed into the step edges. Thus the terraces were smoother and the step edges were more straightened. Well-defined surface with a step height of 0.2 nm was formed above $900^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, when the substrate was annealed at a fixed temperature of $1000^{\circ}C$, the change of surface morphology was observed for the substrate annealed for 10 min. After the annealing for 30 min, the surface on which any islands could not survive was observed.

A Single-Flux-Quantum Shift Register based on High-$T_c$ Superconducting Step-edge Josephson Junctions

  • We have fabricated and tested a simple circuit of the rapid single-flux-quantum(RSFQ) four-stage shift register using a single layer high-$T_c$ superconducting (HTS) $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) thin film structure with 9 step-edge Josephson junctions. The circuit includes two read superconducting quantum interference devices(SQUID) and four stages. To establish a robust HTS RSFQ device fabrication process, we have focussed on the reproducible process of sharp and straight step-edge formation as well as the ratio of film thickness to step height, t/h. The spread of step-edge junction parameters was measured from each 13 junctions with t/h=1/3, 1/2, and 2/3 at various temperatures. We have demonstrated the simplified operation of the shift register at 65 K.

  • As a research to develop a SCRAM jet engine is actively conducted, a necessity to produce a high-enthalpy flow in a laboratory is increasing. In order to develop the SCRAM-jet engine, stabilized combustion in a supersonic flow-field should be attained, in which a duration time of flow is extremely short. Therefore, a mixing process of breathed air and fuel, which is injected into supersonic flow-fields is one of the most important problem. Since, the flow inside SCRAM jet engine has high-enthalpy, an experimental facility is required to produce such high-enthalpy flow-field. In this study, a detonation-driven shock tunnel was built and was used to produce high-enthalpy flow. Further-more, SCRAM jet engine model equipped backward-facing step was installed at test section and flow-fields were visualized using color-schlieren technique and high speed video camera. The fuel was injected perpendicular to the flow of Mach number three behind backward-facing step. The height of the step, distance of injection and injection pressure were changed to investigate the effects of step on a mixing characteristic between air and fuel. The schlieren photograph and pressure histories show that the fuel was ignited behind the step.
