  • The Purpose of this is properties of CFT filled with expansion concrete. CFT(concrete filled steel tube) is the structure that circle shape steel column filled with concrete. 3 kinds of expansive additives and variation of replacement rate. we changed expansive additive from 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% of ratio of addition rate are selected for this experiment. Merits of CFT are concrete internal force rising influenced by steel shape restriction, reinforcing the local buckling, excellent resistance to transformation. Generally, High rise building using CFT utilize the high strength and fluidity concrete for packing the tube inside. As the result a steel tube charged expensive concrete has stiffness 1.5times more than a steel tube not charged concrete. Increase of resisting power about compressive stress by binding expansion of expansive concrete affects strength increase and softness.

  • According to the results of 9 circular concrete filled steel tube (CFT) push-out tests, a new theoretical model for average bond stress versus free end slip curve is proposed. The relationship between verage bond stress and free end slip is obtained considering some varying influential parameters such as slenderness ratio and diameter-to-thickness ratio. Based on measured steel tube strain and relative slip at different longitudinal positions, the distribution of bond stress and relative slip along the length of steel tube is obtained. An equation for predicting the varying bond-slip relationship along longitudinal length and a position function reflecting the variation are proposed. The presented method can be used in the application of finite element method to analyze the behavior of CFT structures.

  • A concrete-filled circular steel tube beam was fabricated, and a bending test was performed to analyze its failure modes, displacement ductility, bending-shear strength, and load-central deflection relationship. For the bending test, the installation position of the shape memory alloy (SMA) inside and outside the double-skin steel tube was used, and the rebar installation position, the concrete strength, the mixing of fibers, and the inner-outer diameter ratio as the main parameters. The test results showed that the installation positions of the reinforcements inside and outside the double-skin steel tube and the inner-outer diameter ratio of the steel tube affected the ductility, maximum load, and failure mode. In general, the specimen made of general concrete with SMA installed outside and inside (OI) the double-skin steel tube showed the best results.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the strength and behavior of the composite member in case of concrete filled steel tube embedded in concrete for application concrete filled steel tube to steel rib support in tunnel. A total of six beam specimens were prepared for steel tube in-filled with plain concrete and aerated concrete, and static bending tests were performed. As a result, the member of concrete steel tube embedded with plain concrete showed higher strength than those with aerated concrete. However, it was found that the flexural strength of member with reinforcing bar around the steel tube is more influenced by the amount of the reinforcing bar than the type of the filled concrete.

  • This paper presents a numerical study of axially loaded concrete-filled steel tubular columns with "T" shaped cross section (CFTTS) based on the ABAQUS standard solver. Two types of columns with "T" shaped cross section, the common concrete-filled steel tubular columns with "T" shaped cross section (CCFTTS) and the double concrete-filled steel tubular columns with "T" shaped cross section (DCFTTS), are discussed. The failure modes, confining effects and load-displacement curves are analyzed. The numerical results indicate that both have the similar failure mode that the steel tubes are only outward buckling on all columns' faces. It is found that DCFTTS columns have higher axial capacities than CCFTTS ones duo to the steel tube of DCFTTS columns can plays more significant confining effect on concrete. A parametric study, including influence of tube thickness, concrete strength and friction coefficient of tube-concrete interface on the axial capacities is also carried out. Simplified formulae were also proposed based on this study.

  • This paper presents experiments and theoretical analysis on shear behavior of eight concrete-encased square concrete-filled steel tube (CECFST) specimens and three traditional reinforced concrete (RC) specimens. A total of 11 specimens with the test parameters including the shear span-to-depth ratio, steel tube size and studs arrangement were tested to explore the shear performance of CECFST specimens. The failure mode, shear capacity and displacement ductility were thoroughly evaluated. The test results indicated that all the test specimens failed in shear, and the CECFST specimens enhanced by the interior CFST core exhibited higher shear capacity and better ductility performance than that of the RC specimens. When the other parameters were the same, the larger steel tube size, the smaller shear span-to-depth ratio and the existence of studs could lead to the more satisfactory shear behavior. Then, based on the compatible truss-arch model, a set of formulas were developed to analytically predict the shear strength of the CECFST members by considering the compatibility of deformation between the truss part, arch part and the steel tube. Compared with the calculated results based on several current design specifications, the proposed formulas could get more accurate prediction.

  • This paper presented an experimental study of the bond-slip behavior of reactive powder concrete (RPC)-filled square steel tube. A total of 18 short composite specimens were designed forstatic push-out test, and information on their failure patterns, load-slip behavior and bond strength was presented. The effects of width-to-thickness ratio, height-to-width ratio and the compressive strength of RPC on the bond behavior were discussed. The experimental results show that:(1) the push-out specimens remain intact and no visible local buckling appears on the steel tube, and the interfacial scratches are even more pronounced at the internal steel tube of loading end; (2) the bond load-slip curves with different width-to-thickness ratios can be divided into two types, and the main difference is whether the curves have a drop in load with increasing slip; (3) the bond strength decreases with the increase of the width-to-thickness ratio and height-width ratio, while the influence of RPC strength is not consistent; (4) the slippage has no definite correlation with bond strength and the influence of designed parameters on slippage is not evident. On the basis of the above analysis, the expressions of interface friction stress and mechanical interaction stress are determined by neglecting chemical adhesive force, and the calculation model of bond strength for RPC filled in square steel tube specimens is proposed. The theoretical results agree well with the experimental data.

  • This paper proposes an innovative thin-walled square concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) column with an octagonal/circular lining steel tube, in which the outer steel tube and the inner liner are fabricated independently of each other and connected by slot-weld or self-tapping screw connections. Twelve thin-walled square CFST columns were tested under quasi-static loading, considering the parameters of liner type, connection type between the square tube and liner, yield strength of steel tube, and the axial load ratio. The seismic performance of the thin-walled square CFST columns is effectively improved by the octagonal and circular liners, and all the liner-stiffened specimens showed an excellent ductile behavior with the ultimate draft ratios being much larger than 1/50 and the ductility coefficients being generally higher than 4.0. The energy dissipation abilities of the specimens with circular liners and self-tapping screw connections were superior to those with octagonal liner and slot-weld connections. Based on the test results, both the finite element (FE) and simplified theoretical models were established, considering the post-buckling strength of the thin-walled square steel tube and the confinement effect of the liners, and the proposed models well predicted the hysteretic behavior of the liner-stiffened specimens.

  • To study the mechanical properties of steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) filled circular steel tube columns under eccentric compression loads, this study presents a finite element model which can simulate the eccentrically compressed columns using ABAQUS software. The analytical model was established by selecting the reasonable nonlinear analysis theory and the constitutive relationship of materials in the columns. The influences of design parameters on the eccentric compressive performance of columns were also considered in detail, such as the diameter-thickness ratio of circular steel tube, replacement percentage of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA), slenderness ratio, eccentricity, recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) strength and steel strength and so on. The deformation diagram, stress nephogram and load-displacement curves of the eccentrically compressed columns were obtained and compared with the test results of specimens. The results show that although there is a certain error between the calculation results and the test results, the error is small, which shows the rationality on the numerical model of eccentrically compressed columns. The failure of the columns is mainly due to the symmetrical bending of the columns towards the middle compression zone, which is a typical compression bending failure. The eccentric bearing capacity and deformation capacity of columns increase with the increase of the strength of steel tube and profile steel respectively. Compared with profile steel, the strength of steel tube has a greater influence on the eccentric compressive performance of columns. Improving the strength of RAC is beneficial to the eccentric bearing capacity of columns. In addition, the eccentric bearing capacity and deformation capacity of columns decrease with the increase of replacement percentage of RCA. The section form of profile steel has little influence on the eccentric compression performance of columns. On this basis, the calculation formulas on the nominal eccentric bearing capacity of columns were also put forward and the results calculated by the proposed formulas are in good agreement with the test values.

  • We could say that the concrete filled steel tube structure is superior in the vlew of various structure properties as to promote improvement of structural capacity to dtmonstrate heterogeneous material properties interdependently. The compressive strength is increased by putting to tri axial stress because lateral expansion of concrete 1s confined by the steel tube, when concrete conflned by steel tube fall under centric axial load. Also, it have an advantage that decreasr of load carrying capacity 1s small, not occuring section deficiency due to protect falling piienornonon by co~nprrssion fallurc of concrete. So this study investigated for structural behaviors yroprrtiex of concwir. confined by steel tube throughout a series of experlmerit with kcy parxncter, such as diameter-to-thickness(D / t) ratio, strength of concrete as a study on properties of structural behaviors of confined concrete confined by circular steel tube( tri axial stress). Frorn the expcrment results, the obtained results, are surnrnarised as foliow. (1) The restraint effect of concrete by steel tube was presented significantly as the D /t ratio of steel tube and the strength of filled concrete decrease, and the confined concrete by circular steel tube was increased respectively twice as much as 4-7 in deformation capacity at the ultimate strength ,compared with those of non-confined concrete, so expected to increase flexible effect of concrete. (2) The emprical formula to predict the ultimate capacity of confined concrete by steel tube and concrete filled steel tube column using restraint coefficient of concrete were proposed.
