  • In recent years, information collection of attacks through stealth port scanning technology has become more sophisticated. The most commonly used Nmap port scanner supports a variety of stealth scanning technologies along with the existing scanning techniques. Nmap also supports Idle scan that is different from conventional stealth scans. This is a more sophisticated stealth scan technique by applying the SYN scan and ACK scan techniques. In previous studies, the detection of Idle scanning was on zombie system, but was not on victim system. In this paper, we propose an effective detection method of Idle scan on victim system. The Idle scanning is composed of two stages; they are probing the zombie and victim system and scanning the victim system. We analyzed the characteristics of the two stages. The characteristics, we captured, are that SYN and RST packets are different from normal packet. We applied them to detection method, then Idle scanning is detected effectively.

  • The ultimate purpose of this study is as follows: The current primary concern in the defense sector revolves around how to strategically utilize Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in combat. The Fourth Industrial Revolution denotes a shift towards an environment where automation and connectivity are maximized, driven by technologies such as artificial intelligence. Coined by Klaus Schwab in the 2015 Davos Forum, this term highlights the significant role of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Particularly, the military application of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies is expected to be actively researched and implemented. Combat involves military actions between units, typically conducted as part of a larger war, with units striving to achieve one or more objectives. The concept of combat refers to the fundamental ideas of how units should engage with the enemy, both presently and in future scenarios, to achieve assigned objectives.

  • The control and reduction of the magnetization of naval vessel is important technologies for safety against torpedo and sea mine installed magnetic sensors. In general, we used to conduct as a magnetic treatment for permanent magnetization reduction and to compensate induced magnetization using on-board-degaussing system for the naval vessel's magnetic stealth. Navies have operated magnetic treatment facility in order to protect from sea mines. LIGNex1 Corp. has developed the magnetic treatment facility for the korea navy.

  • Many technologies are being studied to reduce the RCS(Radar Cross Section) of stealth aircraft. Most RCS-reduction technlogies correspond to platforms. It is important to identify factors that RCS performance through simulation analysis of aircraft Mounted equipment. In particular, there are no studies of RCS performance in the radar frequency band when antenna transmit signals are applied. In this paper, the RCS performance variation on the transmit signal on/off of antennas mounted on a stealth aircraft was verified. Antennas were selected for each frequency band and simulated analysis to the RCS performance changes during antenna transmitting signal. Finally, to verify the characteristics of the change in RCS performance, RCS test measurements on the low-profile antenna transmit signal on/off were performed. In addintion, antenna RCS test measurement was performed according to the change of transmit signal power output. As a result, it was confirmed that there is no change in RCS performance when an antenna transmit signal is applied.

  • In modern air combat, infrared signals play an important role in the detection of opponents and must be reduced to improve survivability and stealth. In particular, IR signals generated in the wake of aircraft engines have high intensity and short wavelengths, so most heat-tracking missiles detect these signals. Accordingly, the measurement and characteristic analysis of Gas radiation signals from the engine's wake were carried out in this study. Micro turbojet engine has been configured to simulate a real aircraft turbofan engine, and the characteristics of IR signal reduction by adjusting the bypass ratio were identified. Through this, the IR signal characteristics for each wavelength are analyzed and verification of signal reduction technologies is performed.

  • A metamaterial is a material engineered to have a property that does not exist in nature. A designable material property can be achieved by tailoring its structure, and thus a metamaterial is a novel ICT material and component technology that can break through the limitations of conventional technologies. Among the metamaterials available, a perfect metamaterial absorber is a technology that can nearly absorb light, sound waves, thermal waves, and electromagnetic waves with a simple structure, and has been of significant interest in energy, display, sensor, stealth, and military applications, with wavelengths from visible light to microwaves. In this article, we introduce a brief description of metamaterial absorber technology, the critical issues for its application, as well as ETRI's developed metamaterial absorber technology and its prospects for future use.

  • RADAR Absorbing Structure (RAS), one of stealth technologies, is a multifunctional composite that is capable of supporting load and absorbing electromagnetic waves. In order to supplement the shortcomings of the existing RAS, a hybrid RAS in which the short carbon fiber layers were inserted has been proposed. However, the inserted short carbon fiber layers may affect the mechanical properties of the structure. Therefore, this study measured the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of the hybrid RAS with the inserted short carbon fiber layer. The ILSS of hybrid composite with different areal densities of the short carbon fiber layer was measured to investigate the effect of changes in the areal density of the short carbon fiber layer on the ILSS of the structure. In addition, the ILSS of the 4 kinds of the hybrid RAS were measured and compared with the ILSS of glass/epoxy. As a result of the measurement, it was confirmed that the short carbon fiber layer did not significantly affect the ILSS of the hybrid composite and the hybrid RAS.

  • This paper presents an asymptotic analysis method using the PO(physical optics) approximation technique to analyze the scattering contribution of an electrically large object partially coated with a radar absorbing material(RAM). By using the feature of the PO technique that can calculate the equivalent current value for each mesh independently, instead of analyzing the entire structure, scattering analysis was performed only by calculating the current on the area where the RAM coating is applied. By the numerical examples, the accuracy and the computation time of the proposed method were verified, and the computational efficiency of inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR) of the electrically large objects that require enormous resources is improved.

  • The use of wind energy is gaining importance because of its many advantages. Nations worldwide are promoting the installation of wind farms to produce electricity in an attempt to tackle climate change and increasing oil costs. But, wind turbines can generate undesired signals which disturb the performance of military radar systems. Because the current generation of on and off-shore three bladed wind turbines have radar signatures consistent with their very large physical size. So this study considers the options available for the reduction of wind turbine radar signature and presents solutions for each of the main external turbine components. The radar signature reduction approaches are based on existing technologies developed for aerospaces stealth applications. However, the realization of these for the purposes of reduction wind turbine radar signatures is a novel development, particularly in the solutions proposed. This paper is presented techniques which reduce radar signatures of wind turbine. We know that radar signatures of wind turbine reduce by using these techniques.
