  • A formulation which seeks steady-state equilibrium positions of constrained multibody systems driven by constant generalized speeds is presented in this paper. Since the relative coordinates are employed, constraint equations at cut joints are incorporated into the formulation. To obtain the steady-state equilibrium position of a multibody system, nonlinear equations are derived and solved iteratively. The nonlinear equations consist of the force equilibrium equations and the kinematic constraint equations. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed formulation, two numerical examples are solved and the results are compared with those of a commercial program.

  • A program of steady-state and transient performance analysis for a 200kW-class small turboshaft engine with free power turbine was developed. An existing turbojet engine was used for the gas generator of the developed turboshaft engine, which was modified to satisfy performance requirements of this turboshaft engine. To verify the accuracy of steady-state performance program for this engine: the program was applied to the gas turbine test unit of the same type, and the analysis results were compared with experimental results. The developed transient performance analysis program using the CMF (Constant Mass Flow) method was utilized to analyze the cases of step increase and ramp increase of the fuel.

  • For the search of unified law of moisture movement in wood, moisture distribution of Korean red pine at non-steady state was investigated. We assume that the equilibrium moisture content (EMC) in wood depends on only temperature and relative humidity, it can be control in temperature and humidity chamber. If temperature is constant and humidity or vapor pressure is changed with sin curve shape at adequate cycles, EMC in chamber can be changed as well with sin-curve shape. The setup condition of a non-steady state in humidity control chambers is a constant temperature at $20^{\circ}C$ and 15+10 sin ${\omega}t$ percent EMC. It can be found that the distribution of moisture in the specimen with varying relative humidity are illustrated various types. Moisture in wood is complicated and vibrates with the moisture sorption process. Considering a unified law of moisture movement in wood, it is considered that the most important fact is to search the method of precise diffusion & transfer coefficients.

  • There are many types of grid-connected inverter controllers; Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF)-based controller is the most popular methods. SRF-based controller is capable for reducing both of zero-steady state error and phase delay. However, SRF-based controller has a complex algorithm to apply in real application such as digital processor. Resonant controller is also reduced zero-steady state error, but its transfer function has a high order. In this paper, a simple proportional control is applied for grid connected inverter with LCL filter. LCL filter is a third order system. Applying a simple proportional controller is not increased the order of closed loop transfer function. By this technique, the single phase model is easily obtained. To reduce steady state error, proportional gain is set as high as possible, but it may produce instability. To compromise between a minimum steady state error and stability, the single phase model is evaluate through Root Locus and Bode diagram. PSIM simulation is used to verify the analysis.

  • This paper deals with steady-state analysis of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor. In order to analyze the steady-state characteristics, the asymmetric single-phase line-start synchronous motor is converted to the symmetric two-phase synchronous motor, that is, the asymmetric magnetic field is separated from the positive and the negative symmetric components using symmetrical-component theory. The analysis method of the synchronous motor on the d-q axis coordinates is used for the positive component and the equivalent circuit of the induction motor is applied for the negative component analysis. Moreover, d-q axis inductance considering current phase angle is applied to positive component analysis for precise characteristic analysis. In order to validate the proposed analysis method, the analysis results are compared with the experimental results.

  • Precise prediction and control of the strip profile is crucial for automatic process set-up and operation of a hot strip mill. In the current study, we present the effect of post-deformation on the steady-state strip profile. The process was simulated by a 3-D elastic-plastic finite element (FE) analysis. Comparisons are made between the strip profile measured at the roll exit and the steady-state strip profile. The results raised an issue with regard to the importance of taking into account the effect of post-deformation.

  • This paper presents a high performance position controller in a driving system using a time optimal control which is widely used to control driving systems to a desired reference position or velocity in minimum response time. The main purpose of this study is an improvement of transient response performance rather than steady-state response comparing with another various control strategies. In order to improve the performance of time optimal control, we tried to find the cause of the steady-state error in the driving system we have already made up and also suggest the newly modified type of time optimal control method in this paper.

  • This study presents steady-state finite element analysis of three-dimensional hot extrusion of sections through square dies. The objective of this study is to develop a steady-state finite element method for hot extrusion through square dies, and to provide theoretical basis for the optimal die design and process control in the extrusion technology. In the present work, steady-state assumption is applied to both analyses of deformation and temperature. The analysis of temperature distribution includes heat transfer. Convection like element is adopted for the heat transfer analysis between billet and container, and also billet and die. Distributions of temperature, effective strain rate, velocity and mean stress are discussed to design extrusion die effectively.

  • A conventional adaptive noise canceller (ANC) using LMS algorithm suffers from the misadjustment of adaptive filter weights due to the gradient-estimate noise by input speech signal at steady state. In this paper, an ANC is proposed which uses the combination of VSLMS (variable step size LMS) and SA (sign algorithm) to improve steady state performance and convergence rate. SA algorithm is applied in speech region to prevent the weights from perturbing by output speech of ANC and VSLMS algorithm is applied to improve convergence rate and channel tracking ability in silence region and adaptive transient region. In compute rsimulation, the performance of the proposed VSLMS-SA combination algorithm is much better than LMS algorithm and the algorithm, recently proposed by greenberg, with adaptation step-size parameter determine dby sum method in convergence rate, channel tracking and steady state performance.

  • This paper suggests the three dimensional steady state searching techniques of hard disk/head system, which has some skew angle with flexure. In order to analyze the steady state behaviors of magnetic head slider, the localized Knudsen number and the localized bearing numbers are sued. For finding the steady state of magnetic head slider under the pre-loaded condition, I proposed multi-dimensional Newton-Raphson method which traces the equilibrium position of magnetic head slider, which has 3-degrees of freedom, using Jacobian matrix. The multi-dimensional Newton-Raphson method is very efficient technique for finding the steady state position of magnetic head slider because it approaches to the equilibrium position with changing three parameters simultaneously.
