  • The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs established the FarmMap, an digital map of agricultural land. In this study, using deep learning, we suggest the application of farm map reading to farmland such as paddy fields, fields, ginseng, fruit trees, facilities, and uncultivated land. The farm map is used as spatial information for planting status and drone operation by digitizing agricultural land in the real world using aerial and satellite images. A reading manual has been prepared and updated every year by demarcating the boundaries of agricultural land and reading the attributes. Human reading of agricultural land differs depending on reading ability and experience, and reading errors are difficult to verify in reality because of budget limitations. The farmmap has location information and class information of the corresponding object in the image of 5 types of farmland properties, so the suitable AI technique was tested with ResNet50, an instance segmentation model. The results of attribute reading of agricultural land using deep learning and attribute reading by humans were compared. If technology is developed by focusing on attribute reading that shows different results in the future, it is expected that it will play a big role in reducing attribute errors and improving the accuracy of digital map of agricultural land.

  • The bus contention among bus-based shared-memory multiprocessors limits their performance. In addition, under split bus transaction environment, multiprocessors may make some memory requests unnecessary stand by in the memory access buffer, which makes system performance worse. This unnecessary stand-by can be eliminated by maintaining the bitmap table which contains the status bit for each memory block. However, this mechanism requires a great size of SRAM for the status information, which is fully mapped from the whole memory blocks. To solve this problem, we propose a bitmap cache which exploits partial mapping and locality of references. The simulation results show that the proposed system can greatly reduce the capacity of SRAM for the status information with little deteriorating its performance.

  • The Wooden Seated Amitabha Buddha Triad and Altarpiece have not been the subjects of definitive species identification and scientific analysis. In this study, visual investigation, portable X-ray fluorescence (p-XRF), species identification, and lacquer layer observations were carried out to determine the original materials and conservation status. Cracks, exfoliation and discoloration were detected during the visual investigation. The p-XRF data indicated that chrome oxide green, malachite, gold, cadmium red, cinnabar, minium, hematite, lead white, ink stick (Carbon), and copper were used for pigments and the coronet accessory. Tilia spp., Abies spp., and Pinus spp. were identified from both the Buddha Triad and Altarpiece. Finally, lacquer layer analyses of the base layer, lacquer layer, orange pigment layer, and gold leaf layer observed modern synthetic pigments likely used in previous conservation. As the Korean Cultural Heritage Charter and the International Charter for the Conservation and Restoration of Monuments and Sites clearly state that objects of cultural heritage must be conserved using their original materials, future conservation of these objects should utilize the data obtained in this study to employ traditional materials. Furthermore, a deterioration map diagnosis can be applied together with the obtained analysis data to understand the conservation status of and inform an appropriate and authentic conservation treatment for the Buddha Triad and Altarpiece.

  • Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease characterized by spontaneous recurrent seizures and caused by various factors and mechanisms. Malfunction of the olfactory bulb is frequently observed in patients with epilepsy. However, the morphological changes in the olfactory bulb during epilepsy-induced neuropathology have not been elucidated. Therefore, in the present study, we investigated the expression of parvalbumin (PV), one of the calcium-binding proteins, and morphological changes in the rat main olfactory bulb (MOB) following pilo-carpine-induced status epilepticus (SE). Pilocarpine-induced SE resulted in neuronal degeneration in the external plexiform layer (EPL) and glomerular layer (GL) of the MOB. PV immunoreactivity was observed in the neuronal somas and processes in the EPL and GL of the control group. However, six hours after pilocarpine administration, PV expression was remarkably decreased in the neuronal processes compared to the somas and the average number of PV-positive interneurons was significantly decreased. Three months after pilocarpine treatment, the number of PV-positive interneurons was also significantly decreased compared to the 6 hour group in both layers. In addition, the number of NeuN-positive neurons was also significantly decreased in the EPL and GL following pilocarpine treatment. In double immunofluorescence staining for PV and MAP2, the immunoreactivity for MAP2 around the PV-positive neurons was significantly decreased three months after pilocarpine treatment. Therefore, the present findings suggest that decreases in PV-positive GABAergic interneurons and dendritic density in the MOB induced impaired calcium buffering and reciprocal synaptic transmission. Thus, these alterations may be considered key factors aggravating olfactory function in patients with epilepsy.

  • This paper introduces the semantic modeling technology for autonomous control of manufacturing facilities and status definition algorithm. With the development of digital twin technology and various ICT technologies of the smart factory, a new production management model is being built in the manufacturing industry. Based on the advanced smart manufacturing technology, the status determination algorithm was presented as a methodology to quickly identify and respond to problems with autonomous control and facilities in the factory. But the existing status determination algorithm informs the user or administrator of error information through the grid map and is presented as a model for coping with it. However, the advancement and direction of smart manufacturing technology is diversifying into flexible production and production tailored to consumer needs. Accordingly, in this paper, a technology that can design and build a factory using a semantic-based Linked List data structure and provide only necessary information to users or managers through graph-based information is introduced to improve management efficiency. This methodology can be used as a structure suitable for flexible production and small-volume production of various types.

  • In South Korea, there is a growing domestic need for a biotope map which contains ecological and environmental geographic information of a city. After the production of a Urban Ecological Maps(biotope map) by the Seoul metropolitan government in 2000, Natural Environment Conservation Act was revised in 2017 to make it mandatory for a local government to draw up its own urban ecological map. The aim of the present study was to find out ways to utilize an urban ecological map as a mean of communication between natural environment planning and urban planning sectors in a preliminary stage before introducing a big framework of 'environmental and ecological planning.' The northern area of Incheon metropolitan city was selected as the target area for this study. The major research content includes a comparative analysis of special-purpose zones, urban planning zones, restricted development zones, and conservation forests with focus on biotope types and Grades 1 of 'Biotope Type Assessment.' Farmland biotopes and forest biotopes within an area designated as an urban zone (residential, commercial and industrial zones) need to be redesignated as a zone which can conserve them. Especially considering a high possibility of damage to a large scale of natural green areas, these areas need to be readjusted immediately. If the entire area designated as an urban planning zone is to be developed, it is likely to cause serious damage to natural biotopes in the area (56.2%), including farmland biotope (30.4%), forest biotope (15.0%) and grassland biotope (10.8%), and thus, readjustment is needed. In case of a conservation forest, as it can possibly be damaged by the designation of special-purpose zones, it is necessary to match the designation of conservation forests or a special-purpose zones with their biotope types. In conclusion, we present a variety of thematic maps for utilization of an urban ecological map and propose a phase-specific environmental and ecological plan. Phase 1 is the establishment of a urban plan in consideration of ecological status; Phase 2 is the independent establishment of an environmental and ecological plan by an environment department; Phase 3 is an integrated management of ecological planning system and urban planning system.

  • The mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway is activated in response to extracellular stimuli and regulates various activities in eukaryotic cells. Following exposure to stimuli, MAPK is known to be activated via dual phosphorylation at a conserved TxY motif in the activation loop; both threonine and tyrosine residues are phosphorylated by an upstream kinase. However, the mechanism underlying dual phosphorylation is not clearly understood. In the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the Hog1 MAPK mediates the high-osmolarity glycerol (HOG) signaling pathway. Tandem mass spectrometry and phosphospecific immunoblotting were performed to quantitatively monitor the dynamic changes occurring in the phosphorylation status of the TxY motif of Hog1 on exposure to osmotic stress. The results of our study suggest that the tyrosine residue is preferentially and dynamically phosphorylated following stimulation, and this in turn leads to the dual phosphorylation. The tyrosine residue was hyperphosphorylated in the absence of a threonine residue; this result suggests that the threonine residue is critical for the control of signaling noise and adaptation to osmotic stress.

  • The aim of this research is to survey the census of street trees and to provide remedial measures for street trees management to Miryang City. To do this, survey was carried out 16 region units in Miryang City. Through the survey, the current status of street trees’ map was made using automated map. From the results, it is turned out that 17,079 trees have been planted in Miryang City. The major species of street trees are Prunus serrulata var. spontanea(41.6%), Ginkgo biloba(26.1%), Pinus thunbergiana(13.3%) and the others are 12 species(19.0%). By the region units, Samrangjin-Eub is the most that 2,308 street trees are planted, and the next is Chodong-Myon(2,206 trees). The littlest street trees planted region is Cheongdo-Myon. In the results of comparison the component of street trees with other municipal cities, e.g. Seoul, Incheon, Kwangyang etc., only a few street trees have been planted so many in Miryang City. So, Miryang City indicated high proportionate street trees planting ratio. The suggested remedial measures are consisted with identifying the each street, increasing the green area by accepting the suitable street tree planting model, improving the physiological growth condition and systematic management with GIS.
