  • Main reasons for causing vibration in a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) are torque ripple and radial force harmonics, and hence, both of them are undesirable in high-precision machine tools and accurate motion-control actuators. Recent research on radial force is the prediction of major vibration frequencies and modes in terms of motor design such as different winding types and a fractional slot number per pole in the stator. Also, proper phase current has been investigated for minimizing radial force harmonics. During the previous studies, all the motors are assumed to be ideally built up in terms of mechanical dimensions, but it is impossible due to dimensional variation within or outside tolerance in production. Therefore, in this paper, the effect of several key factors on radial force is examined and compared regarding manufacturing imperfection.

  • This paper deals with design and thrust force measurement of EMS type LSM for propulsion of the high-speed maglev train. The load of maglev train is calculated, and the design equations of the LSM are presented, and the LSM which is suitable for the operation of short-distance test track is designed. In addition, the finite element analysis is performed to confirm the back-EMF and thrust force characteristics of the LSM designed model. A short length LSM prototype model is manufactured. Finally, the thrust force of the LSM is measured by the method applying dc current to the stator winding instead of three-phase ac current. And the validity of the design and analysis is verified by this measurement.

A Study on Thermal, Mechanical and Electrical Properties as Silane Treated Epoxy/MICA Composites (실란처리된 Epoxy/MICA 콤포지트의 열적, 기계적 전기적 특성연구)

  • In this study, epoxy/mica composite was prepared by mixing with mechanical stirrer together with homogenizer, and the effect of amino-type silane coupling agent was also studied. To reduce the viscosity without any decrement of other properties, 1,4-Butanediol diglycidyl ether (1,4-BDGE) as an aliphatic epoxy reactive diluent was introduced to the epoxy/mica composite in order to use as vanish for high voltage motor and generator stator winding. It was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation that interfacial characteristics between organic epoxy and inorganic mica was modified by coupling agent treatment so that glass transition temperature increased, and tensile strength and electrical breakdown strength increased. The properties were estimated by Weibull statistical analysis and the ac electrical breakdown strength was 20.2% modified by treating silane coupling agent.

  • In this paper, the loss components of IPMSM(Inteiror Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is derived. To maximize the efficiency of the motor, a design method that optimizes the design variables is proposed Objective function consists of stator winding loss, core loss, and mechanical loss. Simulated annealing is used as the optimization method which is appropriate for finding the global minimum of nonlinear function with many local minima. Through the simulation of the motor characteristics, the prominence of the proposed design method is verified.

  • Most of the loads in industrial power distribution systems are balanced and connected to three power systems. However, in the user power distribution systems, most of the loads are single & three phase and unbalanced, generating voltage unbalance. This paper presents a scheme on operation states of a three-phase induction motor under unbalanced voltages. The three-phase voltages applied to the stator winding of the studied induction motor are controlled by respectively adjusting the magnitude and phase angle of each phase. The voltage unbalanced factor(VUF) of the three-phase source voltages can then be varied to examine the different values of VUF on machine's operation characteristics.

  • This paper presents the characteristic analysis of the 40 kVA high speed synchronous generator considering the power factor. The generator consist of the rotor with the short-circuited field coils connected armature coils of exciter and the stator with three-phase winding. To analyze the characteristics of the generator, the direct finite element method is applied.

  • 고압회전기의 운전중 부분방전을 효과적으로 측정하고 진단하기위해 고정자 권선과 슬롯사이에 취부 되는 방향성 결합기형태의 부분방전센서가 일부 사용되고 있다. 기존 결합기형 센서는 마이크로스트립 등의 전송선로 타입으로, 센서 출력 단자의 효과적인 매칭을 목표로 설계되었으나, 센싱도체의 폭이 좁아 권선으로부터 효과적인 커플링이 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 고정자 권선 및 슬롯 구조의 전계분포 계산결과를 바탕으로 부분방전 신호 측정에 효과적인 형태의 센서를 설계하였다. 제작된 센서를 실제와 동일한 고정자 권선 및 슬롯 구조에서 타 센서와 비교하여 성능을 시험한 결과, 기존 마이크로스트립타입의 센서와 상용센서에 비해 좋은 감도를 가지는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Recently, the importance of supplying the reliable electric power is increasing. Breaking insulation of stator winding is major cause of fault in rotator machine. On-line PD detecting is useful technique to diagnose rotator machine. However, interpretation of its results in time domain is very complex because of the mixed results with PD(Partial Discharge) and noise signal. Therefore, the results were analyzed in frequency domain by FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) to detect precise PD signals. The purpose of this paper is to describe the optimal frequency range to discriminate the PD and noise signal.

  • 절연물의 열화가 진행되면 최초로 1선 지락사고가 발생할 가능성이 많고 1선 지락사고는 2선 지락 및 단락사고로 파급되어 설비에 심각한 손상으로 이어지게 된다. 따라서, 1선지 락 사고에 대한 완전한 보호방식의 적용은 설비 신뢰성 증대라는 측면에서 매우 중요한 사항이라고 판단된다. 이에 시화호조력 발전소에 설치될 수차발전기는 고정자권선의 지락사고에 대한 100%보호방식을 적용하였으며 이 설계사례를 토대로 실제적으로 적용가능한 발전기 고정자권선의 지락보호증대방식을 공유코자 한다.
