수냉식 발전기 고정자 권선의 흡습 건전성 예지 (Prognostics for Stator Windings of Water-Cooled Generator Against Water Absorption)

  • 본 연구에서는 수냉식 발전기 고정자 권선의 건전성 예지 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 권선의 데이터를 흡습 데이터와 정상 데이터로 분류 하였으며 각각의 데이터 군을 다른 방법으로 예측 하였다. 흡습 데이터를 예측하기 위해 픽의 제 2 법칙(Fick's second law)를 이용하여 건전성 감소 모델링을 하였고 픽의 제 2법칙의 해를 이용하여 흡습 모델식을 만들었다. 정상 데이터는 데이터의 분포가 정규분포를 따른다는 가설을 세운 후 카이제곱 검정을 통해 이를 입증하였다. 예측된 흡습 데이터와 정상 데이터를 이용하여 건전성 인자인 방향성 마할라노비스 거리(Directional mahalanobis distance; DMD)의 예측값을 산출하였고 흡습 권선의 고장 예상시점을 계산했다.

단상 유도전동기의 무부하손실을 고려한 등가회로 정수의 결정 (Determination of Parameters of Equivalent Circuit Taking No-Load Losses Into Account for Single-Phase Induction Motors)

  • This paper proposes a step-by-step method of determining the parameters of equivalent circuit which is considered the no load losses for the single phase induction motor which has the starting winding. This method is comprised of three steps, and the stator resistance which is measured by the method of voltage drop is treated as constant and the stator and the rotor leakage reactances are assumed to be the same in every step. The test results of no load and locked rotor test are used in the 1st and 2nd step, and the ratings of name plate of the motor are needed in the 3rd step. In the 1st step, the traditional equivalent circuit parameters are directly calculated by no load and locked rotor conditions. In the next step, five nonlinear simultaneous equations for five unknown parameters can be set up by no load and locked rotor equivalent circuits. These equations are solved by using the initial parameters obtained by the 1st step parameters. In the final step, three nonlinear simultaneous equations for rotor winding resistance, leakage reactance and no load losses component resistance can be set up by equivalent circuit under the rated operation. Three parameters are solved by using the 2nd step parameters. Thus, equivalent circuit parameters are gradually refined step by step. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated by comparing the computed values obtained by the equivalent circuit parameters with the experimental values of the load test.

차세대 전기 항공기를 위한 HTS 모터의 개념 설계 (Conceptual Design of an HTS Motor for Future Electric Aircraft)

  • 기존의 전기 모터는 큰 중량과 부피의 단점으로 항공기 적용에 적합하지 않다. 고온 초전도 (High-Temperature Superconducting: HTS) 모터는 전류 밀도와 자기장 밀도가 높으며 손실이 적어 일반 전기모터와 비교하여 크기와 무게를 크게 줄일 수 있다. 본 논문은 미래 항공기 전기 추진용 HTS 모터의 개념 설계 및 해석 결과를 제시한다. 회전속도가 7,200 RPM인 2.5 MW 용량의 HTS 모터를 설계하고 무게 대비 출력 비(kW/kg)를 분석하였다. HTS 모터 계자코일 (Field Coil)의 운전온도는 LH2 (Liquid Hydrogen) 냉각을 고려하여 20K을 선정하였다. 고정자 권선 (Stator Winding)은 다상 구성 (Multi-Phase Configuration)으로 연결하였고 와전류 (Eddy Current) 손실을 최소화하기 위해 Litz 선을 사용하였다. 결과적으로 모터의 무게 대비 출력 비는 약 18.67 kW/kg으로 기존 모터보다 훨씬 높음을 확인하였다.

Influence of Different Frequency Harmonic Generated by Rectifier on High-speed Permanent Magnet Generator

  • Since the stator winding of High-Speed Permanent Magnet Generator (HSPMG) has few winding turns and low inductance value, it is more prone to be influenced by harmonic current. Moreover, the operation efficiency and the torque stability of HSPMG will be greatly influenced by harmonic current. Taking a 117 kW, 60 000 rpm HSPMG as an example, in order to analyze the effects of harmonic current on HSPMG in this paper, the 2-D finite element electromagnetic field model of the generator was established and the correctness of the model was verified by testing the generator prototype. Based on the model, the losses and torque of the generator under different frequency harmonic current were studied. The change rules of the losses and torque were found out. Based on the analysis of the influence of the harmonic phase angle on torque ripple, it is found that the torque ripple could be weakened through changing the harmonic phase angle. Through the analysis of eddy current density in rotor, the change mechanism of the rotor eddy current loss was revealed. These conclusions can contribute to reduce harmonic loss, prevent demagnetization fault and optimize torque ripple of HSPMG used in distributed power supply system.

Detection of Incipient Faults in Induction Motors using FIS, ANN and ANFIS Techniques

  • The task performed by induction motors grows increasingly complex in modern industry and hence improvements are sought in the field of fault diagnosis. It is essential to diagnose faults at their very inception, as unscheduled machine down time can upset critical dead lines and cause heavy financial losses. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques have proved their ability in detection of incipient faults in electrical machines. This paper presents an application of AI techniques for the detection of inter-turn insulation and bearing wear faults in single-phase induction motors. The single-phase induction motor is considered a proto type model to create inter-turn insulation and bearing wear faults. The experimental data for motor intake current, rotor speed, stator winding temperature, bearing temperature and noise of the motor under running condition was generated in the laboratory. The different types of fault detectors were developed based upon three different AI techniques. The input parameters for these detectors were varied from two to five sequentially. The comparisons were made and the best fault detector was determined.

  • This paper presents air-gap control according to Y and Delta connections of a double-sided air-gap permanent magnet synchronous motor (DA-PMSM) with independent three-phase structure. In particular, the DA-PMSM used in this study can be applied to low-speed and high-torque applications, such as wind turbines, tidal power generations, and electric propulsion ships, because of its modular stators and a rotor with numerous permanent magnets. Unlike conventional three-phase machines, the DA-PMSM has a symmetrical configuration with double-sided air-gap. Therefore, Y/Delta winding connections and serial/parallel configurations between stator modules are possible. To identify the DA-PMSM operating characteristics, mathematical modeling is analyzed according to the Y/Delta connections. Moreover, air-gap control performances by applying the winding connection methods are verified through experimental results.

Wing Technique: A Novel Approach for the Detection of Stator Winding Inter-Turn Short Circuit and Open Circuit Faults in Three Phase Induction Motors

  • This paper presents a novel approach based on the loci of instantaneous symmetrical components called "Wing Shape" which requires the measurement of three input stator currents and voltages to diagnose interturn insulation faults in three phase induction motors operating under different loading conditions. In this methodology, the effect of unbalanced supply conditions, constructional imbalances and measurement errors are also investigated. The sizes of the wings determine the loading on the motor and the travel of the wings while their areas determine the degree of severity of the faults. This approach is also applied to detect open circuit faults or single phasing conditions in induction motors. In order to validate this method, experimental results are presented for a 5 hp squirrel cage induction motor. The proposed technique helps improve the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the motor system and industrial plant. It also allows maintenance to be performed in a more efficient manner, since the course of action can be determined based on the type and severity of the fault.

  • The large synchronous motor for the pumped-storage plant(or SFC : Static Frequency Converter) has to be brought up to 100$\%$ rated speed and synchronized with the AC power network. Starting the motor from rest is achieved by switching current into the stator winding so that interaction between this stator current and the rotor flux will cause the correct direction of torque to be developed so that the motor turns in the required direction. Starting ranges of the synchronous motor are divided into three regions. The first region Is at standstill, the second that is called by the forced commutation is from standstill to 5-8$\%$ of rated speed, and the third, which is called by the natural commutation, is from 5-8$\%$ of rated speed to 100$\%$ rated speed. So this paper describes three regions of the control techniques of the pumped-storage synchronous motor drive.

고압회전기기 고정자권선의 Off-line 진단을 통한 신뢰성 평가 (Reliability Assessment of High Voltage Rotating Machine Stator Windings Through Off-line Diagnosis)

  • 산업현장에서는 회전기기의 고체절연시스템(solid insulation system)의 열화정도를 평가하기 위하여 일정 진단주기에 맞춰 Off-line 상태에서 직류시험 및 교류시험을 통하여 효과적으로 절연물에 대한 상태평가를 시행하고 있다. 직류시험으로는 절연저항, 성극지수(PI) 시험 등이 있으며 교류시험으로는 교류전류시험(${\Delta}I$), 유전정접시험(${\Delta}tan{\delta}$), 부분방전(PD)시험이 있다. 여기서 부분방전은 절연체의 국부적인 열화현상을 추정할 수 있는 중요한 파라미터로, 부분방전시험(PD test)을 통하여 고정자권선(stator winding)에 대한 절연특성을 효과적으로 진단할 수 있다. 고압 전동기는 기동정지의 빈번함과 장기간 운전에 의해 열적, 전기적, 기계적 스트레스를 받게 되고, 이로 인해 과열, 진동, 절연파괴에 이르는 문제점이 발생되어 결국 시스템의 운전정지를 초래하는 심각한 사고로 이어질 수 있다. 따라서 고압 전동기의 절연상태를 주기적으로 감시하고 사고 징후를 검출하여 시스템을 안정적으로 운영하기 위한 고압 전동기 Off-line 절연진단에 대하여 기술하고 수차발전기에 대한 절연상태진단 결과를 바탕으로 절연시스템의 신뢰성 평가 방법에 대하여 고찰하고자 한다.
