The Effect of Joint Mobilization with PNF Stretch Exercise on Ankle Joint Range of Motion, Plantar Pressure, and Balance in Patients with Stroke

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching exercise and joint mobilization on ankle joint range of motion (ROM), plantar pressure, and balance in subjects with stroke. Thirty patients (n=30) were organized into three groups, each of which received different treatments: PNF stretching (n=10), joint mobilization (n=10), and joint mobilization and PNF stretching combined (n=10). Each group received three exercise sessions per week for four weeks. The ankle ROM was measured using a goniometer, and plantar pressure and balance ability were measured using BioResque static posturography. In comparison within each group, the joint mobilization group and the joint mobilization with PNF stretching group showed significant improvements in ankle ROM, plantar pressure, and balance ability (p<.05). In comparison between the groups, a statistically significant difference was found in SECS change between the PNF stretching group, joint mobilization group and the joint mobilization with PNF stretching group. This study found demonstrates that the joint mobilization and joint mobilization with the PNF stretching methods were effective in improving ankle ROM, plantar pressure, and balance ability in stroke patients.

관절 가동운동이 관절 감수기에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Joint Mobilization Techniques on the Joint Receptors)

  • 지금까지의 내용을 요약하면 먼저, 인체의 각 관절 주위에는 관절의 움직임과 위치를 파악하는 감지기 역할을 하는 기계적 감수기가 있다. 이러한 감수기는 크게 네가지로 구분되어지는데 대개 I 형 감수기, II 형 감수기 등의 용어를 사용한다. 각각의 감수기의 특성(표 2.)을 알아보면, 루피니(Ruffini)감각기와 유사한 모양을 하고 있는 I 형 관절감수기는 주로 운동의 속도(speed)와 방향(direction)을 감지(detection)하며, 파시니안(Pacinian)감각기와 유사한 형태를 하고 있는 II 형 관절감수기는 매우 작은 움직임에 대한 감지를 하는데, 예를 들어 속도가 가속(acceleration)되는 것과 같은 움직임 등을 알아낸다. 이외에 골지건과 비슷한 모습을 하고 있는 II 형 관절감수기는 운동의 자세(position)와 방향에 대한 정보를 전달하게 된다. 관절의 자세 유지 혹은 안정성 즉, 정적(static) 운동에 주로 관여하는 I 형 관절감수기와, 역동적(dynamic)인 운동에 감지를 주로하는 II 형 관절감수기는 진동(oscillation)자극에 잘 촉진된다. 이러한 자극은 동통이 심하게 발생된 관절에 나타나는 근육의 과긴장(hypertonicity)과 동통을 경감시킬 수 있다. III 형 관절감수기는 억제(inhibitory)감수기라 할수 있는데, 골지건(Golgi tendon organ)의 기능과 매우 관련이 깊다. 이 감수기는 관절의 가동범위를 기계적인 자극으로 증가시키기 위해 관절의 가동 끝범위에서 강한 신장(strong stretch)이나 thrust 기술로 감수기를 촉진할 수 있다. 이러한 자극은 결국 근육에 이완을 얻게 할 수 있다. 위에서 언급한 관절 주위의 조직에 분포한 특별한 기계적 감지를 환자들의 임상 중상에 따라 선택적으로 자극하는 치료를 적용할 수 있다면, 현재 물리치료사들이 적용하고 있는 관절 가동운동을 좀 더 전문적인 수준으로 수행할 수 있을 것이다.

스트레칭 기법에 따른 뒤넙다리근의 유연성, 근력, 압통 역치, 근 긴장도에 미치는 효과 비교 (A Comparison of The Effect of Stretching Technique on Hamstring Muscle for Flexibility, Strength, Pressure Pain Threshold Value and Muscle Tone)

  • PURPOSE: The effectiveness of the stretching to increase the range of motion of the joint, reduce the risk of injury, enhance athletic performance or decrease post exercise muscle soreness. This study was to compare the effect of the stretching method applied on the shortened hamstring muscle for flexibility, strength, pressure pain threshold value and muscle tone. METHODS: This study is a two-group pretest- posttest design. Fifty-four healthy young adults were randomly assigned to a vibration-assisted stretching group (VASG, n=27) or a static stretching group (SSG, n=27). Participants performed each stretch in 4 sets of 30 seconds each. A 30-second break time was provided between the sets. The range of motion, strength, pressure pain threshold values and muscle tone of the hamstring muscle were measured to compare the effects of the stretching methods. RESULTS: Both the VASG and the SSG participants showed significant improvement in the range of motion and strength (p<.05); however, the increase in the VASG was significantly higher than that in the SSG (p<.05). The pressure pain threshold values and muscle tone were significantly decreased only in the VASG (p<.05). CONCLUSION: These findings indicate that vibration-supported stretching is an effective intervention for people with hamstring shortening, with high pain level and muscle tone decrease.

세리신 가공제에 의한 폴리에스터 직물의 친수화 가공 (Hydrophilic Finish of Polyester Fabrics using Sericin Finishing Agents)

  • First of all, the properties imparted to PET fabrics are resistance to and recovery from creasing or wrinkling when wet or dry; high resistance to stretch in the filament yarns but not in the staple; high abrasion resistance; good texture and appearance; resistance to heat ageing; good chemical resistance and good resistance, behind glass, to sunlight. But, the low moisture regain of PET fabric conduces to static troubles in textile processing. Furthermore, garments made from PET may, during wear, develop electric charges which attract to the fabric particles of soil(dirt, swarf, dust) flying in the air, so that the cuffs of shirts, for example, become soiled quickly and are not easily laundered clean. The sericin constitutes 25$\sim$30% of silk protein and surrounds the fibroin fiber with sticky layer that supports the formation of a cocoon. The useful biochemical properties of sericin protein are oxidation resistant, antibacterial, UV resistant, hydrophilic property, and good affinity with hydrophobic material. These properties can be used as an improving reagent or a coating agent for natural and synthetic fibers, fabrics, and other intermediate products. The sericin is also applied to cross-link, and can be blended with other materials. In this study, we modified the surface of PET fabric by mixture of sericin finishing agent; sericin, polyuretane binder and 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) cross-link agent. Also, we investigated the finshing effect; moisture regain, stiffness, handle, drape and electrostatic. The moisture regain of PET fabric treated with sericin finishing agent was higher than that of untreated PET fabric. As a result of evaluating influence about handle of PET fabrics treated with sericin finishing agent, it was confirmed that the sericin finishing agent could be use as a linen like finishing agent.

2D 핸드 드로운 애니메이션과 3D 컴퓨터 애니메이션에서의 액팅(acting) 스타일 비교 -클로즈-업을 이용한 감정표현을 중심으로- (Comparison of Acting Style Between 2D Hand-drawn Animation and 3D Computer Animation : Focused on Expression of Emotion by Using Close-up)

  • 2000년대 초를 거치면서 리얼리티 기반의 컴퓨터 그래픽스의 발달과 함께 서구를 중심으로 메인스트림 장편 애니메이션은 핸드 드로운(hand-drawn) 방식에서 점차 3D 컴퓨터 그래픽스 사용으로 변화됐다. 전통적으로 드로잉 방식의 애니메이션은 원, 삼각형 등 단순한 형태로 추상화 된 캐릭터들의 독특한 움직임에서 다른 예술장르와 차별화되는 미적 고유성을 찾았다면, 컴퓨터의 사용은 그 움직임의 자동화 방식과 리얼리티 지향의 그래픽으로 인해 그와 같은 애니메이션의 미적 특성을 저해한다는 논란이 있어왔다. 3D 컴퓨터 그래픽스의 제작방식의 도입은 애니메이션의 액팅 스타일에도 많은 변화를 가져왔다. 우선 실제 인간의 운동 메커니즘과 유사한 리깅(rigging)방식을 보면 3D 캐릭터의 액팅 스타일의 변화를 추적해 볼 수 있다. 핸드 드로운 애니메이션의 경우 캐릭터의 머리카락, 옷 등은 소품이 아닌 캐릭터의 일부로써 액팅을 했다면, 이제 머리카락, 옷 등은 시뮬레이션 되기 때문에 애니메이터에겐 오직 캐릭터의 몸만이 액팅 대리물이 됐다. 다음으로 애니메이션의 특징이라 할 '스트레치 앤 스쿼시(stretch and squash)'의 과장된 움직임을 매체의 특성과 관련해 생각해 보면, 한 프레임씩 수작업으로 그려지는 바, 미세하게 나타나는 선의 떨림은 피할 수 없다. 이 떨림은 묘한 미적효과로도 기능하지만 동시에 이를 감추기 위해 과장된 움직임은 필연적인 것일 수도 있다. 이와 다르게 수학적인 움직임 계산으로 매끄러운 움직임의 표현이 가능한 소프트웨어의 사용은 다소 이분화 된 액팅 방식을 보인다. 기본적으로 사람과 같은 움직임에서 과장 된 제스처로 액팅하거나 또는 정적이며 절제된 동작으로 감정을 연기한다. 또한 z축의 깊이 공간을 추가되고 캐릭터를 직관적으로 움직임일 수 있는 컴퓨터 그래픽의 편리성은, 뛰어난 드로잉 아티스트를 넘어 뛰어난 연기 지도자가 될 것을 애니메이터에게 요구 한다. 특히 캐릭터의 감정표현과 관련해 디지털 테크놀로지의 새로운 표현양식은 애니메이터에게 액팅의 유형과 관련 넓은 선택을 제공한다. 이는 애니메이션에 있어 동작 위주의 액팅 스타일에서 내면적 감정 표현으로의 연기 영역의 확장을 의미한다.

  • Fertilized egg, by successive cell divisions, differentiates into different tissues and organs with various structures and functions. Different cells and tissues contain different proteins, products of selective gene expression. Not all the genes in any genomes are equally active, temporal and spatial gene expression being the general rule. Present paper attempts to review the tanscriptional mechanisms or the initiations of transcription from several angles. In some of the organisms the genes in the process of transcription or the genes in the inactive state can be seen under the light microscope. Some bands of Drosophila polytene chromosomes may exhibit a swollen or puff appearance under certain conditions. A puff, unfolded or decondensed form of chromomere, represents sets of intense transcriptional activity or RNA synthesis. The heterochromatic X chromosome whose genes remain inactive in the female mammals can be visualized as a dark staining structure called Barr body, Configuration of chromatin differs between transcribed and nontranscribed chromatin. Modification to the chromatin facilitates RNA synthesis. The movement of large polymerase molecule along the DNA would probably be facilitated if some modifications of the chromatin configuration is effected. Methylation of cytosines in CG sequences is associated with inactive genes. Methylation can play a role in determination of mammalian cells during embryogenesis. Demethylation is necessary for the gene to be expressed during development A histone modification that is also known to be correlated with transcriptional capacity of chromatin is acetylation of the lysine residues of the core histones. Chromatin containing a high level of histone acetylation is very sensitive to DNase 1. For the transcription to occur TBP must first bind to the TATA box. Another TF, TF IIB, then binds to the promoter-TBP complex, facilitating the access of RNA polymerase to the transcription initiation site. As recently as eight years ago researchers assumed that histones were irrelevant to the regulation of gene expression. Histones combine with the DNA to form nucleosome of the chromatin. Histones are vital participant in gene regulation. Histone and basal factors compete for access to TATA box. When DNA is exposed to basal factors before histones are introduced, the basal factors assemble on TATA boxes preventing the access of histones, allowing transcription to occur, for transcription to begin, activator protein at the upstream activation sequence or enhancer must interact with the tail of histone H4 at TATA box and cause the histone role particle to dissociate from the TATA box leading to partial breakup of the histone core particle and allowing the basal factors to bind to the TATA box. New concept of genomic flux in contrast to the old concept of static genome has been developed based on the powerful new molecular techniques. Genomic changes such as repetitive DNAs and transposable elements, it is assumed but not yet proved, may affect some of the developmental patterns that characterize particular cells, tissues, organs, and organisms. In the last decade or so remarkable achievement have been made in the researches of the structures and functions of TFs and the specific target sequences located in promoters or enhancers where these TFs bind. TFs have independent domains that bind DNA and that activate transcription. DNA binding domain of TFs serves to bring the protein into the right location. There are many types of DNA binding domains. Common types of motifs can be found that are responsible for binding to DNA. The motifs are usually quite short and comprise only a small part of the protein structure. Steroid receptors have domains for hormone binding, DNA binding, and activating transcription. The zinc finger motif comprises a DNA binding domain. Leucine zipper consist of a stretch of amino acids with a leucine residue in every seventh position Two proteins form a dimer because they interact by means of leucine zippers on similar α-helical domain. This positions their DNA binding basic domains for interaction with the two halves of a DNA sequence with dyad symmetry of TGACTCA, ACTGAGT.
