Comparison of Joint Mobilization with Manual Stretching Exercises in the Treatment of Hallux Valgus

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of joint mobilization and manual stretching exercises in patients with hallux valgus. Twenty-three participants were divided into two groups; joint mobilization (n=11) and manual stretching exercises (n=12). The subjects participated in the experiment for 15minutes, three times a week, four weeks. The joint mobilization (Grade III, Maitland) was performed to experimental group for a minute and then rested for 10 seconds for each set. The manual stretching was performed to control group with three exercise session (preparatory and finishing exercises, agonist contraction exercises, agonist contraction and hold-relax exercises). In the results of the study, intragroup comparison of the deformity angles (DA) was shown to decrease from $15.18^{\circ}$ to $13.09^{\circ}$ in the joint mobilization group (p<.05) and from $19.00^{\circ}$ to $16.83^{\circ}$ in the stretching exercises group (p<.05). However, left static foot pressure (LSFP), right static foot pressure (RSFP), left dynamic foot pressure (LDFP) and right dynamic foot pressure (RDFP) did not significantly increase or decrease after the experiment. Intergroup differences also were not statistically significant in all variables (p>.05). The current study suggests that JM and MSE are effective in decreasing the DA in patients with hallux valgus.

Analytical and computational analysis of pressure at the nose of a 2D wedge in high speed flow

  • Supersonic projectiles like rockets, missiles, or aircraft find various applications in the field of defense. The shape of the wings is mainly designed as wedge shape or delta wings for supersonic vehicles. The study of supersonic flows over the wedges and flat plate delta wings around the large scale of incidence angle is considered in the supersonic projectile. In the present paper, the prime attention is to study the pressure at the nose of the plane wedge over the various Mach number and the various angles of incidence. Ghosh piston theory is used to obtain the pressure distribution analytically, and the results are compared with CFD analysis results. The wedge angle and Mach number are the parameters considered for the research work. The range of wedge angle is 50 to 250, and Mach number is 1.5 to 4.0 are considered for the current research work. The analytical results show excellent agreement with the CFD results. The results show that both the parameters wedge angle and Mach number are influential parameters to vary the static pressure. The static pressure increases with an increase in Mach number and wedge angle.

  • The finishing process of die requires the processing technique of a height efficiency and precision. Because the precision of die gives the quality of goods the influence directly. The hydro-static polishing device employs the hydro-static axis and is able to polish the structure of complex picture under the constant pressure and is got constant surface roughness at all polished plane. Therefore, In order to polish precision sculptured surface, it was used the hydro-static polishing device. Polishing device's polishing characteristic is estimated by polishing conditions which are size of abrasive, material of tools. And, because the surface quality of workpiece depends on polishing pattern which relates to motion of abrasive grain. The polishing characteristic according to polishing pattern was evaluated.

자동차 공기스프링의 특성에 대한 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Investigation on the Characteristics of An Automotive Air Spring)

  • The analysis of an air spring characteristics is necessary to design and control automotive air suspension system properly. A mathematical model of an air spring was derived in light of energy conservation first. Then static and dynamic experiments of the air spring have been fulfilled. The static stiffness with various initial pressures and effective areas were obtained from the static experimental results. Theoretical static stiffness obtained by using the mathematical model and effective area data is in close accordance with the experimental estimation. The dynamic experimental results show that the hysteresis in displacement-force cycle decreases when the frequency of the harmonic displacement excitation signal increases, but it does not change too much as the frequency is higher than 1Hz. And the dynamic stiffness goes up with increasing of the initial pressure and the excitation frequency.

고등훈련기 전기체 정적시험을 위한 여압시험 (Pressurization Test for Full-scale Static Test of T-50 Aircraft)

  • Pressurization test is usually required in aircraft full-scale static test. There are several test conditions including pressurization of cockpit, fuselage fuel tank, air inlet duct for T-50 full-scale static test. In this paper, the test conditions, equipment, piping analysis for the pressurization test are introduced. Tank simulation test is performed to verify the validity of piping analysis and to find good tuning parameters for the pressurization channel in the servo controller. Several test setup for pressurization of T-50 test is introduced. Test article volume is filled by form, $60%{\sim}80%$ volume is reduced for the T-50 full-scale static test. Pressurization system is connected to servo controller which also controls hydraulic actuator. Load and pressure control is synchronized by using the same servo controller during T-50 test. Typical control result for pressurization test condition is shown. Pressurization tests of T-50 full-scale static test was completed successfully.

평면 배열 유전체 장벽 방전 플라즈마 발생기의 대기압에서의 레이다 단면적 감소 효과 (Radar Cross Section Reduction by Planar Array of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma under Atmospheric Pressure)

  • 큰 부피의 플라즈마를 발생시키기 위하여 플라즈마 층을 포함하는 유전체 장벽 방전 구조(dielectric barrier discharge)를 제안하고, 발생기 동작 유무에 따른 모노스태틱 레이다 단면적(mono-static radar cross section)을 측정함으로써 대기압 플라즈마가 전자기파에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 다수의 전극을 평면으로 평행 배열함으로써 플라즈마 층의 부피를 증가시켰으며, 전극 배열과 수직인 방향의 전기장을 포함하는 전자기파를 입사시킴으로써 발생기와의 원치 않는 커플링을 최소화 시켰다. 실험 결과, 모노스태틱 레이다 단면적을 2 GHz부터 25 GHz까지 측정하였을 때, K band에서 최대 8 dB까지 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 고전압 발생기의 인가 전압을 최대 20 kV까지 변화시킴으로써 원하는 주파수에서 플라즈마로 인한 감소치를 유연하게 조절 가능함을 보였다.

Transient Forces on Pipe Bends by the Propagation of Pressure Wave

  • External forecs acting on a pipe bend change when a transient pressure wave propagates through the bend. Analytical expressions are derived to compute the changes of these forces which depend mainly on static pressure rather than fluid momentum. This analysis reveals that the change of the vertical component of the force acting on a pipe bend with an angle larger than 90 may reverse in direction during the passage of a pressure wave through the bend.

PECVD로 증착된 불화 유기박막의 특성 평가 (Characterization of Fluorocarbon Thin Films deposited by PECVD)

  • Plasma Polymerization를 이용하여 Teflon-like 불화 유기 박막을 Si, $SiO_2$, Al, TEOS 위에 증착하였다. Difluoromethane $(CH_2F_2$)에 Ar, $O_2$, 그리고 $CH_4$를 첨가하여 첨가 가스에 따른 불화 유기 박막의 특성을 평가하였다. 각각의 첨가가스에 대하여 압력, 온도, 그리고 첨가가스의 비율을 변화시켜 박막을 증착하여 정접촉각 통한 표면의 친수성 (hydrophilicity)과 소수성(hydrophobicity) 정도를 관찰하였다. Ar을 첨가한 경우 Ar 첨가량과 power의 증가에 따라 정접촉각의 감소를 관찰하였다. 그러나 증착압력이 증가함에 따라 정접촉각이 증가하였다. Ar 첨가시 2 Torr이상의 증착압력에서 분말형태의 초소수성 불화 유기박막을 얻을 수 있었다. $O_2$를 첨가한 경우, $O_2$의 첨가량과 증착압력이 증가함에 따라 정접촉각은 감소하였다. 약 100W까지의 power에서는 정접촉각은 일정하였지만 power의 증가에 따라 정접촉각은 감소하여 200W에서는 천수성표면을 얻을 수 있었다. $CH_4$를 첨가하여 불화유기박막을 증착하였을 경우 $CH_4/CH_2F_2$비율이 5까지 급격한 증가를 나타내었고, 비율이 5이상인 경우에서는 일정한 정접촉각을 나타내었다. 화학기상증착에 의해 제조된 박막보다 plasma polymerization으로 제작된 불화유기박막이 히스테리시스(hysteresis)가 낮은 불화유기박막을 형성하였다.

  • Two representative finite volume methods, i.e., the time marching method and the pressure correction method, were applied to 8 centrifugal compressor impeller flows, with low to very high level of pressure ratio, among which 7 impellers' experimental performance is given in the open literature. The present study is focused on the prediction differences from both methods, developed by the authors, in the pressure correction method's point of view. In all cases, the time marching method gives a satifactory solution, but the pressure correction method does not. Up to about $18\%$ less level of total-to-total pressure ratio is predicted by the pressure correction method as the level of the impeller pressure ratio increases up to about 10. The drop of total pressure ratio is caused by the underestimation of static pressure rise which seems to be attributed to inappropriate linearization and discretization of the pressure/density coupling terms in the pressure correction equation.

  • 초음속풍동에서 사용하는 압력 probe의 형상에 따른 압력특성에 대하여 분석하였다. 초음속풍동의 성능을 평가할 때 시험부의 벽면정압력과 전방안정실의 전압력을 측정하고 그 비로 마하수를 계산한다. 또한 쉴리렌 가시화를 통하여 유질의 상태를 확인한다. 그러나 매우 빠른 초음속 영역에서는 경계층의 영향을 무시할 수 없기 때문에 시험부의 압력을 측정하는데 한계가 있다. 따라서 시험부의 유질이 균일한지 확인을 위해 다양한 위치에서 압력을 측정하기 위한 probe가 필요하다. 본 논문에서 몇 가지 피토형상에 대해서 실험을 진행했고, 그 결과를 비교 분석했다.
