난류 용탕 In-Situ 합성법을 위한 스태틱 믹서의 형상에 따른 혼합 효과 (Mixing Effect by the Geometry of Static Mixer with Turbulent In-Situ Mixing Process)

  • Turbulent in-situ mixing process is a new material process technology to get dispersed phase in nanometer size by controlling reaction of liquid/liquid, liquid/solid and liquid/gas, flow and solidification speed simultaneously. In this study mixing, the key technology to this synthesis method will be studied by computational fluid dynamics. For the simulation of mixing of liquid metal, static mixers will be investigated. Two inlets for different liquid metal meet and merge like 'Y' shape tube. The tube has various shapes such as straight and curved. Also, the radius of curve will be varied. The performance of mixer will be evaluated with quantitative analysis with coefficient of variance of mass fraction. Also, detailed plots of intersection will be presented to understand effect of mixer shape on mixing.

  • The objective of this study is to perform the numerical investigation of flow characteristics in static mixers. Simulations are carried out for mixers consisting of up to six Kenics and PPM elements placed end-to-end at an angle of $90^{\circ}$and for a range of Reynolds number($1{\leq}Re{\leq}100$). The pressure drop across a six-element Kenics mixer is computed and compared with the previous experimental correlations. The results are in good agreement with the previous correlations. The simulated flow field of Kenics mixer is extremely complex and contains regions of transverse flow that is dominated by the interaction of vortices produced by the mixer elements.

  • 본 연구에서는 격자 볼츠만 방법 중 Scalar Passive 코드를 사용하여 미소채널 내에서의 수동형 믹서의 혼합에 대하여 계산을 수행하였다. 미소채널 내에서의 수동형 믹서의 혼합에 대하여 유선과 압력분포를 통해 혼합과 압력 강하를 물리적으로 규명하였으며, 혼합에 영향을 주는 인자에 대해서 알아보았다. 수동형 믹서의 경우 고정물의 간격보다는 고정물의 개수와 고정물의 크기가 혼합효율과 압력강하에 큰 영향을 주었다.

  • In this work, Scalar Passive code in Lattice Boltzmann Method is employed to simulate two-phase flow of low Reynolds number in a micro-channel. The mixing characteristics in a micro-channel is a function of Peclet number. The mixing length increases with the Peclet number. It is found that with the inclusion of static elements at the channel, rapid mixing of two liquids can be achieved, as shown by the results of computer simulations. The enhancement in mixing performance is thought to be caused by the generation of eddies and by lateral velocity component when the mixture flows past static elements. The results indicate that the size of static element has more effect on the mixing than the number of static element.

  • A Light Emitting Diode(LED) is a semiconductor device which converts electricity into light. LEDs are widely used in a field of illumination, LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) backlight, mobile signals because they have several merits, such as low power consumption, long lifetime, high brightness, fast response, environment friendly. In general, LEDs production does die bonding and wire bonding on board, and do silicon and phosphor dispensing to protect LED chip and improve brightness. Then lens molding process is performed using mixed liquid silicon rubber(LSR) by resin and hardener. A mixture of resin and hardener affect the optical characteristics of the LED lens. In this paper, computational design of static mixer was performed for mixing of liquid silicon. To evaluate characteristic of mixing efficiency, finite element model of static mixer was generated, and fluidic analysis was performed according to length of mixing element. Finally, optimal condition of length of mixing element was applied to static mixer from result of fluidic analysis.

  • Ozone is a strong oxidant and a powerful disinfectant. In general, it has been used in drinking water treatment during last 100years. Ozone dissolution features are defined by the two categories of ozone contactors, bubble-diffuser and sidestream ozone contactor. Currently, sidestream-injection systems are gaining in popularity but operating cost might be slightly higher. Sidestream ozone system dissolve ozone into a sidestream flow via an injection setup or in the main process flow stream in some sidestream arrangements. The sidestream flow is subsequently mixed with the main process flow stream, which is directed to a reation tank or pipeline for oxidation and disinfection reactions. The purpose of this study is to suggest optimal operating pressure, to figure out the static-mixer effect and to understand the microbubble characteristics of ozone to improve dissolution efficiency.

연속공정에 의한 식물유의 바이오디젤유 전환 (Conversion of Vegetable Oil into Biodiesel Fuel by Continuous Process)

  • Transesterfication of vegetable oils and methanol with alkaline catalyst was carried out to produce biodiesel fuel by continuous process. The process consists of two static mixers, one tubular reactor and two coolers and gave $96{\sim}99$% of methyl ester yield from soybean oil and rapeseed oil. Experimental variables were the molar ratios of methanol to vegetable oil, alkaline catalyst contents, flow rates, mixer element number. The optimum ranges of operating variables were as follows; reaction temperature of $70^{\circ}C$, l:6 of molar ratio of methanol to oil, O.4%(w/w) sodium hydroxide based on oil, static mixer elements number of 24 and 4 min. residence time.

  • Fluid mixing is ubiquitous and essential in many natural and industrial systems. Understanding the mixing processes that occur in these diverse system is essential for predicting many aspects of practical importance. The objective of this study is to perform the experimental and numerical investigation of the flow and mixing in a static mixer. Three different types of mixing elements, Sulzer, SSM and PPM were used. Glycerin and hydraulic oil were used as mixing fluids. Pressure drop was measured using a manometer.

Camelina oil transesterification using mixed catalyst of tetra methyl amonium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide on the tubular reactor

  • The analysis of reaction kinetics provided that the reaction order was the $1^{st}$ of triglyceride and the rate constant was 0.067 $min^{-1}$. The transesterification of camelina oil using 0.6 wt% mixed catalyst which consists of 40 v/v% of potassium hydroxide (1 wt%) and 60 v/v% of tetra methyl ammonium hydroxide (0.8 wt%), was carried out at $65^{\circ}C$ on the tubular reactor packed with static mixer. The conversion was shown to be 95.5% at the 6:1 molar ratio of methanol to oil, flow rate of feed of 3.0 mL/min and 24 of element of static mixer. The volume of washing water emitted by 0.6 wt% mixed catalyst was the half of the volume emitted by 1 wt% potassium hydroxide.

관형반응기에서 알칼리 및 혼합촉매를 사용한 혼합지방의 바이오디젤화 (Conversion of Mixed Fat into Biodiesel in Plug Flow Reactor Using Alkali and Mixed Catalysts)

  • The continuous transesterification of mixed fat was done on the plug flow reactor packed with the static mixers. The transesterification using 0.5 wt% KOH, 0.8 wt% TMAH and mixed catalyst[40 v/v% KOH(0.5 wt%)+60 v/v% TMAH(0.8 wt%)] was conducted with the changes of molar ratios, weight percentage of beef, flow rates and number of static mixer's elements at $65^{\circ}C$. The overall conversion of mixed fat at 1:8 molar ratio, 50 wt% of beef and 24 of static mixer's elements increased until 0.7mL/min of flow rate. The overall conversion of mixed fat showed 96% at those conditions. So, the optimum operating conditions on tublar reactor were 1:8 molar ratio, 50 wt% of beef, 0.7 mL/min of flow rate and 24 of static mixer' s elements.
