Knowledge of the negative effect of Cigarette Smoking among adult in sokoto metropolis

  • This study was aimed at ascertaining the level of knowledge of the health effects of cigarette smoking on health and wellbeing among adults. A cross-sectional form of descriptive survey research design was used for this study. Two hundred and seventy copies of the questionnaire collected were analyzed using descriptive statistic of frequency count, normative percentage and grand mean; as well as inferential statistics of chi-square (${\chi}^2$). The level of significant was fixed at 0.05. Appropriate degrees of freedom were worked out. The influence of gender on the knowledge of the negative effect of cigarette smoking among adults in sokoto. The results shows that 48% agreed on the negative effects of showing among male followed by 29.3% among female, those who undecided 8.8% male and 4.4% females while those who disagree are 6.2% for male and 2.5% for female. The research concluded that the knowledge of negative effect of cigarette smoking among adults in sokoto metropolis was very good across the different variable (marital status, gender, and year in higher institution) with single, male and first year in higher institution showing significantly good knowledge of the negative effect of cigarette smoking.

  • The worldwide economy has been changing to global and it's going to be put together as one market day by day. In addition the issue of industry has been advanced to automatic and unmanned systems by integration. Thus it is absolutely necessary to be develope and possess high-end technologies to survive in an age of unlimited competition. This development is the core technology of ship unmanned operating system that is very useful and applicable in many fields in addition to ship equipments. Thus it is required to design and develope our own systems which are more reliable compared with foreign products and easy to use and maintenance. We will make an progress of international competitive and contribute to the state economy.

Predicting the high temperature effect on mortar compressive strength by neural network

  • Before deciding if structures exposed to high temperature are to be repaired or demolished, their final state should be carefully examined. Destructive and non-destructive testing methods are generally applied for this purpose. Compressive strength and color change in mortars are observed as a result of the effects of high temperature. In this study, ordinary and pozzolan-added mortar samples were produced using different aggregates, and exposed to 100, 200, 300, 600, 900 and $1200^{\circ}C$. The samples were divided into two groups and cooled to room temperature in water and air separately. Compression tests were carried out on these samples, and the color change was evaluated by the Munsell Color System. The relationships between the change in compressive strength and color of mortars were determined by using a multi-layered feed-forward Neural Network model trained with the back-propagation algorithm. The results showed that providing accurate estimates of compressive strength by using the color components and ultrasonic pulse velocity design parameters were possible using the approach adopted in this study.

  • We synthesized amphiphilic material including dye skeleton, p-phenylenediamine(PD) by attaching norma-decyl group of two strands at a part of coordinating atom, for obtaining reasonable design of LB uniform films. The synthesis of this compounds was quantitatively carried out under ultra pure state. This product was identified with FT-lR spectroscopy, UV absortion spectroscopy, and $^1$H-NMR spectroscopy, respectively. When manufacturing monolayer, we confirmed molecular area from pressure-area($\pi$-A) cutie of thiscompound onto the surface of the water. The spectroscopic approach also has done by UV absortion spectroscopy. It was shown that PD-complex LBfilms were deposited well with monolayer thickness. The conductivity based on I-V characteristics of PD-complex LB films were in the range of 10$^{-10}$ S/cm at room temperture. The microscopic properties by AFM, showed the good orientation of various monolayer or multilayer molecules

  • Since the access to Station Control Computers(DCCs) is restricted to the main control room(MCR). the operating data of power plants can't be easily analyzed and effectively managed. It is possible to reduce waste of time and human energy by means of building the Remote Monitoring Network of DCCs connected to Local Area Network. automatizing collection and analysis of DCC data. gathering the operating state of power plants. and managing systematically. Furthermore. this system help preventing trip by means of analyzing the data promptly and watching main system continuously.

  • A great deal of exhaust gas inside a combustion room goes out through exhaust pipe. But residual gas 'Blowby gas' enters the crankcase through a small gap between the piston and the cylinder wall. Here, if the blowby gas isn't vented, this causes many bad efffcts such as lubricant oil contamination, corrosion by that and crankcase explosion by rising pressure. So most automobiles are constituted with a PCV(Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system to prevent previous problems. PCV valve is the most important part in this ventilation system. When companies are manufacturing new cases, engineers are designing it depending on their experiments than theoretical knowledges. Much efforts and times are needed for new development. This study will show quantitative results to increase the possibilities for the optimal design.

  • Smoking has become one of the public health harzard affecting the world. In the UK, smoking is responsible for around one in five deaths. The illnesses caused by smoking extend beyond the well-reported links with cancer, heart disease and respiratory illnesses. Hence the research to determine the awareness of the predisposing factor to smoking among adults in sokoto metropolis. A cross-sectional form of descriptive survey research design was used for this study. This is because descriptive studies are used when the characteristics of a population are either unknown or partially known (Hennekens & Buring, 2007), and it was used by Ganley and Rosario (2013) in a related research this justified the use of similar design in a study of similar nature.Two hundred and seventy returned questionnaire was collected, analyzed using descriptive statistic of frequency count, normative percentage and grand mean; as well as inferential statistics of chi-square (${\chi}^2$). The level of significant was fixed at 0.05. Appropriate degrees of freedom were worked out. There was statistical significant influence or relationship with marital status on the predisposing factors of smoking chi-square of 19716.516 greater than the critical value 43.77297at df 30 p<0.05. There were statistical significance chi-square =27468.348 which is greater than the critical value 43.77297 at df= 30. These show that there is a relationship on gender awareness of predisposing factors to smoking rejecting the null hypotheses. The respondents across different lever/year higher institution shows that the awareness of predisposing factors of smoking there were a statistical significance difference chi-square =7168.429 (df=88) greater than critical value 102.342 rejecting the null hypotheses. There is consistent evidence that links exposure to depictions of smoking in movies and initiation of smoking in young people. Over the years television shows and films have effectively built up associations between smoking and glamour, sex and risk-taking. Social learning theory describes how we learn by example from others. We are strongly influenced by our parents, and other people we look up to, such as peers, actors and pop stars. This can lead us to emulate their behaviour and try smoking.

LCD 제조공정 클린룸의 화재시 CFD를 이용한 제연성능 개선대책에 관한 연구 (A Study on Measures to Improve Smoke Control Performance in Case of Fire in a Clean room as an LCD Manufacturing Process)

  • 첨단산업기술인 반도체, LCD 등 제조의 핵심공정인 클린룸은 생산제품의 성능 및 품질에 절대적인 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 공정이다. 그러나 국내는 방화공학적인 측면에서 과학적이고 종합안전대책에 대한 체계적인 연구가 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구는 LCD 제조공정 클린룸에 설치하는 제연시스템의 성능 및 문제점을 파악하여 이에 대한 개선방안을 도출하기 위하여 여러 시나리오를 고려한 화재시뮬레이션과 피난시뮬레이션을 통하여 분석하였다. LCD 제조공정의 클린룸 화재 및 연기확산에 대하여 분석한 결과 화재시 공조기의 연동정지는 반드시 필요하며 연기의 부력을 고려하여 FAB 상부에 배연을 할 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 또한 대규모 클린룸의 경우 화재특성상 스프링클러헤드의 집열 성능이 떨어지므로, 조기반응형 헤드의 설치 및 작동시간을 빠르게 하기 위한 보조장치를 설치하여야 한다. 특히, 대공간 클린룸은 자동화 공정으로 거주밀도가 낮지만, 복잡한 생산장비의 배치와 방진복을 착용하고 근무해야하는 환경특성 때문에 화재시 피난안전성능 확보가 어렵기 때문에 공정 내 위험요소의 철저한 관리 및 주기적인 교육과 훈련이 필요하며, 방재선진국의 기준에 준하는 수준의 국내 관련기술 기준을 정립할 필요가 있다.

청소년을 위한 치유병원 디자인과 집의 의미와의 관계 - 미국 청소년을 대상으로 한 선호도 조사를 중심으로 - (Healing Design for Adolescent Patients and the Meaning of Home - American Adolescents' Preferences on Hospital Settings -)

  • The objective of the present study is to investigate healing design attributes for adolescent patients and to identify the relationship among healing design attributes and the meaning of home. This study examined the environmental preferences of American adolescents for hospital rooms to investigate age-appropriate healing design attributes. The health-related quality of life (HRQOL) concept was adapted to this study as a theoretical framework. One hundred six American adolescents participated in the survey. Participant adolescents consisted of two groups by their health status: forty-seven adolescent patients who were waiting for their surgical operations in waiting rooms and fifty-nine healthy high school students while they were at school. Participants aged in range from 14-year to 18-year olds with a mean of 16-year olds. Data collection consisted of two different instruments: Emotional state survey with demographics and environmental preference survey. Environmental values that are important to adolescents were control of privacy, having outside view, and quiet places to go. However, staying in a single-bed room for hospitalization is ranked the lowest score for the participating adolescents. Adolescents who perceived higher stress level preferred to have quiet places to go, to control over privacy and to have outside view significantly. The study resulted that the most important design attribute for American Adolescents was "privacy control", which is the essence of the meaning of home. There are some significant discrepancies in environmental preferences of hospital rooms by different genders and different health status.

경사기능성 세라믹/금속 복합재료의 열응력 해석(1)-플라즈마 용사재- (Thermal Stress Analysis of Functuonally Graded Ceramic/Metal Composites(I)-Plasma Spraying Material-)

  • A traditional notion of composites has been composed as a uniform dispersoid, but now it is proposed without regard to such rule with process development. Functionally Graded Material(FGM) consists of a new material design that is to make intentionally irregular dispersion state. In this study, thermal stress analysis of plasma spraying PSZ/NiCrAlY gradient material was conducted theoretically using a finite-element program. A formations of the model are direct bonding material(NFGM) and FGM with PSZ and NiCrAlY component element. The temperature conditions were $700^{\circ}C$ to 1100.deg. C assuming a cooling-down precess up to room temperature. Fracture damage mechanism was analyzed by the parameters of residual stress.
