A new method for designing moment resisting concrete frames failing in a global mode is presented in this paper. Starting from the analysis of the typical collapse mechanisms of frames subjected to horizontal forces, the method is based on the application of the kinematic theorem of plastic collapse. The beam section properties are assumed to be known quantities, because they are designed to resist vertical loads. As a consequence, the unknowns of the design problem are the column sections. They are determined by means of design conditions expressing that the kinematically admissible multiplier of the horizontal forces corresponding to the global mechanism has to be the smallest among all kinematically admissible multipliers. In addition, the proposed design method includes the influence of second-order effects. In particular, second-order effects can play an important role in the seismic design and can be accounted for by means of the mechanism equilibrium curves of the analysed collapse mechanism. The practical application of the proposed methodology is herein presented with reference to the design of a multi-storey frame whose pattern of yielding is validated by means of push-over analysis.
The ATO(Automatic Train Operation) System is used for train operation instead of drivers. It is interfaced with TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System) and ATC/TWC system in the train and wayside facilities. In this paper describes configuration of ATO, specification of ATO hardware, construction of ATO software and the algorithm fur automatic train speed regulation in the carborn ATO system. ATO Application Software is consist of ART, SPR, REG, SRV and PSM tasks. ART task is main control part of the ATO that determine ATO control, ATO mode, state transition. SPR determine speed reference according to train motion status, track data, train data and restricted train speed. REG task regulated train speed form the starting of one station to the precision stop at the other station under the result of ART and SPR tasks. In this paper, a algorithm for the train speed regulation while running is described.
Low-mass star-formation studies deal with the birth of individual solar-type stars as it occurs in nearby molecular clouds. While this isolated mode of star formation may not represent the most common form of stellar birth, its study often provides first evidence for the general ingredients of star formation, such as gravitational infall, disk formation, or outflow acceleration. Here I briefly review the current status and the main challenges in our understanding of low-mass star formation, with emphasis in the still mysterious pre-stellar phase. In addition to presenting by-now classical work, I also show how ALMA is starting to play a decisive role driving progress in this field.

A typical cooling system of an engine relies on a water pump that circulates the coolant through the system. The pump is typically driven by the crankshaft through a mechanical link with engine starting. In order to reduce the friction and warm-up time of an engine, the clutch-type water pump (CWP) was applied in 2.0 liter diesel vehicle. The clutch-type water pump can force cooling water to supply into an engine by the operation of an electromagnetic clutch equipped as the inner part of pump system. The onset of CWP is decided by temperature of cooling water and engine oil. And, the control logic for an optimal operation of the clutch-type water pump was developed and applied in engine and vehicle tests. In this study, the warm-up time was measured with the conventional water pump and clutch-type water pump in engine tests. And the emission and the fuel consumption were evaluated under NEDC mode in vehicle tests. Also, tests were carried out for the various temperature conditions starting the operation of CWP. From the results of the study, the application of CWP can improve the fuel consumption and $CO_2$ reduction by about 3%.
Simulation model was developed to analyze drying process for tray type red pepper dryer and validated by experiments. This model could predict satisfactorily temperatures and moisture contents of red pepper and temperatures of drying air during drying. Optimize algorithm was developed to search control valiables (drying air temperature, air recycle ratio and air flow rate) of red pepper dryer based on a criterion of minimizing energy consumption under the constraint conditions that statisfied carotenoid retension of at least 210mg per 100g dry matter, the moisture content of bottom layer of 15% (d.b) and drying time of less than 35 hours. Step changes in drying air temperature and air recycle ratio were considered in the optimization. In single step in control variables, the difference of the moisture content between top layer and bottom layer was great and more fan power was required. As the drying trays were exchanged when the moisture content of bottom layer reached to 100% (d.b), fifty percent of energy was saved and the difference of moisture content was little. In double step changes in control variables, optimal conditions were found by changing the step when the moisture content of bottom layer reached to 100% (d.b) (about 19.8 hours from starting drying). Optimum air flow rate was $18.1cmm/m^2$. Optimum drying air temperature and air recycle ratio in the first step was $55.8^{\circ}C$ and 0.80, and in the second step $65.6^{\circ}C$ and 0.88, respectively. In triple step changes in control variables, the optimal conditions were found by changing the steps when the moisture content of bottom layer reached to 250% (d.b) and 150% (d.b). Optimal air temperatures were $66.2^{\circ}C$, $58.4^{\circ}C$ and $66.9^{\circ}C$, and optimal air recycle ratios were 0.778, 0.785, 0.862 at each step, respectively. Optimal air flow rate was $18.9cmm/m^2$. The best operating mode was triple step mode considering energy consumption, drying time, fan power, and quality of dried red pepper. When the triple step mode was used to dry the red pepper, the energy consumption was about 16.5%~57.2% less than that of the single step mode and the drying time was 6.6 hours shorter than that of the double step mode.

In this paper, we present a new analysis of monolithic laser-waveguide coupling structure employing the beam propagation method. Monolithic laser-waveguide coupler has both passive and active components It has too many parameters to consider for an analysis. So we present proper model of coupler by use of directional coupler. We employ the beam propagation method th analyze the proposed structure, we could employ the coupled mode theory but we thought in the case of this paper the beam propagation method is more appropriate than coupler mode theorybecause a number of variables which to consider is too many for the coupled mode theory. Also we use finite difference method to calcurate trial field which is a starting point of beam propagation analysis. Through this approach, we can consider more parameters. And we propose a new structure of monolothic laser-waveguide coupler which has taper structure between the distance in which coupling is taking place and passive waveguide. We can obtain 79% high coupling efficiency from our structure.
This study examines the role of family involvement and national culture in entrepreneurs' choice of mode of entry into entrepreneurship. Mode of entry consists of two choices: starting a new venture or taking over an existing firm. Specifically, we investigate how cultural values moderate the relationship between family involvement and their choice of business takeover. Using a cross-national sample of 3,831 respondents from 33 countries in Flash Eurobarometer data, we develop key variables and test our hypotheses employing hierarchical linear modelling. Our results show that the relationship between family involvement of entrepreneurs and their choice of business takeover is moderated by individualism, short term orientation, and power distance. This research contributes to understanding comparative international entrepreneurship based on national culture. Implications for policy makers and educators are discussed.
A hybrid mount featuring rubber element and piezoelectric actuator is devised to reduce vibration when starting a vehicle engine. As a first step, a passive mount adopting rubber element is manufactured and its dynamic characteristics are experimentally evaluated. After evaluating dynamic characteristics of the manufactured inertial piezoelectric actuator, the proposed hybrid mount is then established by integrating the piezoelectric actuator with the rubber element for performance improvement at non-resonant high frequencies. A mathematical model of the established active vibration control system is formulated and expressed in the state space form. Subsequently, sliding mode controller (SMC) is designed to attenuate the vibration transmitted from the base excitation. Finally, control performances of the proposed hybrid mount are evaluated such as transmissibility in frequency domain and time responses.

Generally, in order to implement the CRM(Critical Conduction Mode), the analog controller is used rather than a digital controller because the control is simple and uses less power. However, according to the semiconductor technology development and various user needs, digital control system based on a DSP is on the rise. Therefore, in this paper, the CRM bridgeless PFC converter based on a digital control is proposed. It is necessary to detect the inductor current when it reaches zero and peak value, for calculating the on time and off time by using the current information. However, in this paper, the on-time and off-time are calculated by using the proposed algorithm without any current information. If the switching-times are calculated through the steady-state analysis of the converter, they do not reflect transient status such as starting-up. Therefore, the calculated frequency is out of range, and the transient current is generated. In order to solve these problems, limitation method of the on-time and off-time is used, and the limitation values are varied according to the voltage reference. In addition, in steady state, depending on the switching frequency, the inductance is varied because of the resonance between the inductor and the parasitic capacitance of the switching elements. In order to solve the problem, inductance are measured depending on the switching frequency. The measured inductance are used to calculate the switching time for preventing the transient current. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed method.

This research is motivated by the question, "Where, when, and through what mode does an individual passenger moving within a subway station use to travel from starting to final destinations ?" To answer this, the stations passed by the individual passenger, the path taken, and modes used need to be known beforehand. In the metropolitan integrated public transportation fare system, Automated Fare Collection System(AFC) can be a source of information on transit modes, stations, and paths of individual passengers. AFC calculates a fare for the passenger based on travel data such as boarding and alighting stations, time, and mode used. In this research, an Selected Station Analysis(SSA) method, in which AFC data is used to observe passenger movement in the metropolitan public transportation subway station from the perspective of subway transfer stations, is proposed. SSA subdivides individual passenger movement in transfer stations and analyzes initial station/time and final destination station/time information using the trip chain perspective.
