  • Background: Helicobacter pylori infection and premalignant gastric mucosa can be reliably identified using conventional narrow band imaging (C-NBI) gastroscopy. The aim of our study was to compare standard biopsy with site specific biopsy for diagnosis of H. pylori infection and premalignant gastric mucosa in daily clinical practice. Materials and Methods: Of a total of 500 patients who underwent gastroscopy for investigation of dyspeptic symptoms, 250 patients underwent site specific biopsy using C-NBI (Group 1) and 250 standard biopsy (Group 2). Sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were assessed. The efficacy of detecting H. pylori associated gastritis and premalignant gastric mucosa according to the updated Sydney classification was also compared. Results: In group 1 the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values for predicting H. pylori positivity were 95.4%, 97.3%, 98.8% and 90.0% respectively, compared to 92.9%, 88.6%, 83.2% and 76.1% in group 2. Site specific biopsy was more effective than standard biopsy in terms of both H. pylori infection status and premalignant gastric mucosa detection (P<0.01). Conclusions: Site specific biopsy using C-NBI can improve detection of H. pylori infection and premalignant gastric mucosa in daily clinical practice.

  • This paper presents a new method for constructing bilingual lexicons through a pivot language. The proposed method is adapted from the context-based approach, called the standard approach, which is well-known for building bilingual lexicons using comparable corpora. The main difference between the standard approach and the proposed method is how to represent context vectors. The former is to represent context vectors in a target language, while the latter in a pivot language. The proposed method is very simplified from the standard approach thereby. Furthermore, the proposed method is more accurate than the standard approach because it uses parallel corpora instead of comparable corpora. The experiments are conducted on a language pair, Korean and Spanish. Our experimental results have shown that the proposed method is quite attractive where a parallel corpus directly between source and target languages are unavailable, but both source-pivot and pivot-target parallel corpora are available.

  • Increasement of total cost during distribution chain requires packaging standardization to reduce extra handling and delays at transshipment point. In Korea, high valued agricultural products to export are most often shipped by air freight. Fresh flowers, in particular, the need to set package standard for air palletization are strongly recommended. This study tried to find an optimum standard dimensions for export packages. After extensive research on combinations of various flower dimensions, package dimensions and pallet sizes, we found that 96 inches pallet was most adequate for international air freight. Based on the results, new 40 standard package dimensions were introduced and stacking efficiencies were calculated.

  • The Smart Home and the Home Networking industry have growth rate in 53.9% per year, and many nations appoint it as a nation's developing industry to research and invest. As KS, a standard composing smart instruments for smart home, maintain systematically in every year, and in other side construction standardization only in way to indicate, but never has national standard. Based on the Modular Coordination(MC) the framing standard of design drawing was examined in every year, and in same way for making the framing standard about Smart Home there need making a Modular Coordination(MC) at first. This investigation recognize the necessity about the modular that will be the base of architectural space which control the smart instruments. And aimed at indicating smart modular through the research about modular of the existing residence space and survey about the applicable smart technology.

  • Standards impact the economy in various ways. Moreover, intense competition exists between a variety of standards in this era of globalization. This paper quantifies the economic effect of multiple standards in the Information Communications and Technology (ICT) sector. Thus, it identifies and specifies which standard applies when economic gains exist. A model is developed which quantifies the magnitude of the economic effect of multiple standards as compared with a single standard or no standard. The model allows for both the micro- and macroeconomic gains from standardization to be quantified. Preliminary estimates indicate that at the macro level the multiple standards multiplier is approximately three. That is for every dollar invested, the gain is on the order of three dollars. Although not as robust. preliminary results indicated a similar economic gain at the micro level Overall, multiple standards dominate a single standard. This paper applies the model to IMT-2000, an example of multiple standards, to demonstrate this approach to quantify the standards economic effect.

  • High efficiency standards are slowly being introduced with IE3 efficiency levels shortly becoming compulsory in many countries; IE4 efficiency levels being developed for future implementation. In this paper a review is carried out of the IE 60034-30 standard which covers standard line-start induction motors. Some design techniques that can be used to increase efficiency in order to meet the IE4 standards are discussed. This standard is now being replaced by the IE60034-30-1 standard which extends to other line start motors and also IE 60034-30-2 is being introduced to cover variable speed drives in order to address developing technology. The conclusion is that IE4 standards are obtainable but careful design is needed to reach this. Examples from the literature are given.

  • In this paper, we propose a systematic procedure to determine standard time and cycle time in a TFT-LCD factory. The proposed procedure mainly consists of data preprocessing, hypothesis testing and Group technology. Data preprocessing extracts relevant data from large on-line data sets by eliminating corrupt and noisy data. Hypothesis test techniques have been used to determine whether the standard information has been changed. Also, Group technology has been applied to generate standard information for newly developed products. The proposed procedure has been successfully applied to the production information system of a TFT-LCD factory in Korea.

  • Since randomness and uncertainties of design parameters are inherent, the robust design has gained an ever increasing importance in mechanical engineering. The robustness is assessed by the measure of performance variability around mean value, which is called as standard deviation. Hence, constraints in robust optimization problem can be approached as probability constraints in reliability based optimization. Then, the FOSM (first order second moment) method or the AFOSM (advanced first order second moment) method can be used to calculate the mean values and the standard deviations of functions describing constraints and object. Among two methods, AFOSM method has some advantage over FOSM method in evaluation of probability. Nevertheless, it is difficult to obtain the mean value and the standard deviation of objective function using AFOSM method, because it requires that the mean value of function is always positive. This paper presented a special technique to overcome this weakness of AFOSM method. The mean value and the standard deviation of objective function by the proposed method are reliable as shown in examples compared with results by FOSM method.

  • IEEE 802.16 standard(WiMAX) is one of 3.5G/4G wireless technologies and there are many systems based on the standard. Each frame of the systems begins with a preamble for synchronization and channel estimation, etc. IEEE 802.16 standard defines a total of 114 preamble sequences. By the way there are some systems(such as mobile multi-hop relay) that require using more than 114 preamble sequences. So we define 114 additional preamble sequences in this paper. And we evaluate PAPR and cross-correlation performance of them to decide to be usable as a preamble.
