Determination of Cage Size in Case of Non-Standard Well Size in Lift Industry (승강기 산업의 비표준 승강로에 대응하는 승강기 크기 결정 방법 연구)

  • There is currently no recognized standard for the size of lifts. Each elevator manufacturer sets the maximum allowable floor area that meets the capacity calculation standard of the elevator using the maximum used car floor area, which is defined by EN-CODE and the domestic inspection standard, and determines the elevator size based on their own standards. In this paper, we propose a method to more easily determine the elevator size. To do this, we implemented a program that calculates the size of the elevator by inputting the dimensions of the hoistway. This program will be useful method for quick decision making and elevator installation considering the elevator factors according to the already determined hoistway size of the building and calculating the EN-CODE currently used and the size of the elevator according to domestic inspection standards.

Pain Complaint according to Usage of Standard-Sized Desks and Chairs for Middle and High School Students (중(中)·고등(高等) 학생(學生)들의 책상 및 의자(椅子)의 표준호식(標準號數) 사용여부(使用與否)와 통증(痛症) 호소율(呼訴率))

  • This study was conducted to examine both usage rate of standard sized desks and chairs for the middle and high school students and pain complant of students who use standard-size desk & chair in Taegu, Korea, by means of questionnaires with 1,201 students of both male and female middle and high schools in Taegu area from March 20 to April 19, 1995. The result of this study is summarized as follows. It was mostly shown that the desks and chairs used by those middle and high school students were 1-3 higher than their standard sizes, and that they also preferred a little higher size with respect to their desired sizes. The rate of students who use the standard size showed that the desk accounted for 30.5%, and chair for 21.0%, that the size bigger than the standard accounted for 61.3%, respectively, and 65.2, and that the size smaller than the standard accounted for 8.2%, respectively, and 13.8%. The using rate of the standard sized for the middle school students indicated that their desk accounted for 44.1%, and their chair for 26.0% which were higher than 16.1% and 14.7% for the high school students. Then, the rate of the male students indicated that their desk accounted for 31.5% and their chair for 24.5% which were higher than 29.6% and 17.6% of the female students. In addition, the using rate of the standard size for the public schools showed that the desk accounted for 34.2% and chair for 24.5% which were also higher than 27.1% and 17.5% of the private schools. It was shown, however, that the using rate of the standard size for both groups was lower. The most inconvenient factor in the usage of their desks appeared in such orders as their wear, narrow drawers, too low height and uneven face, while the factor in their chairs did in such orders as too hard chair body the surface and back part, wear, lower and higher height and narrow width. Their physical pains resulting from usage of those desks and chairs showed that the male and female middle school students' complaint rate of pains in their neck and shoulder accounted for 32.1%, respectively, and 36.0% which were highest, while those high school students' complaint rate in their waist accounted for 37.9%, respectively, and 44.1% which were hight. It was also shown that the bigger their height, the higher their complaint rate of pain in the waist, and that their complaint rate in the shoulder and neck was totally higher. When using the standard-sized desks and chairs, their complaint rate of pain in the shoulder and neck accounted for 25.4%, respectively, and 23.8%. As compared with them, when using the desks or chairs bigger than the standard size, their complaint rate accounted for 31.5%, respectively, and 31.8% which were high while it did 26.5% and 28.9% when using them smaller than the standard size which were also high, the usage of those standard-sized desks and chairs indicated lower complaint rate of pain in their waist than used the desks and chairs bigger or smaller than the standard size. The rate of the middle and high school students who use their standard size is very low and the size of their desks and chairs are quite different from those they hope to use and many students appeal their discomfort with their desks and chairs. Therefore, the school should try to provide the desks and chairs of the various students' standard sizes in consideration of their physical condition and it also should try to get extra desks and chairs of various sizes according to the students' standard size and their preference.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the standard size specification of the apparel item as finding out apparel products'sizing problem in the domestic and foreign interned shopping malls. Though that, to suggest basic data of web page offered sizing system given to consumer higher satisfaction and based on ISO (International Organization For Standardization), domestic industry standard and service related size. The summarized findings are as follow. 1. The result of size description research, the size description system between internet site were very different, in addition in the department shopping malls it was different by manufacturing industry. Also in domestic and foreign shopping malls, It was not correspond to ISO and domestic industry standard, used Numeric and Alphabetical size. In the foreign shopping mall it distinguish body type and age group. 2. The result of consumer's satisfaction, the superior fashion malls were Samsung, LG, Fashionpia in the domestic shopping mall, were Gap, JCPenny, Jcrew in the foreign shopping malls. In the total group, 1-5 grades were ranked in the foreign shopping malls. 3. Satisfaction of the foreign fashion mall was higher than that of the domestic fashion malls. Exactly, foreign fashion mall described size chart, size description, product size and body size measuring method but domestic fashion malls didn't describe that. Domestic fashion malls need sizing system development given to consumer higher satisfaction. In addition sizing system based on ISO and domestic industry standard and subdivided to body type and ale group must be studied. Aloe, fashion information, coordination information and product explanation must be reinforced.

Use and Awareness of Nutrition Labeling of Snacks based on One Serving Size among University Students in Chungbuk (충북지역 일부 대학생의 영양표시 활용 실태 및 과자류 1회 제공량 기준 영양표시 인지도)

  • The study was carried out to investigate the efficacy of current nutrition labeling of processed foods and examine awareness among university students of nutrition information given current nutrition labels, and also awareness of the one-serving size of snacks that come in differently sized packages. A total of 100 students in Chungbuk, Korea participated in this study. About 60% of the subjects knew about nutrition labeling; however, a very small percentage (11%) of the subjects reported an experience of being educated about nutrition labeling. Also, just 32% of the students checked nutrition labels when they purchased processed foods. When understanding of nutrition information on labels of snacks in differently sized packaging was tested, over 80% of the subjects understood nutrition information accurately. Five different package sizes were studied. Of these 5, packages containing about 200% of one standard serving showed the highest rate of misunderstanding of total energy contents per container. Interestingly, the students most strongly preferred containers that contained 300% of one standard serving. From these results, we conclude that students consider the current recommendation for a serving size to be small, which may be related to misreading of nutrition labels of snacks that come in packages containing less than 300% of one standard serving size. To improve accurate understanding of nutrition labels of snacks, total package labels or dual column labels on packages containing less than 300% of one standard serving size should be considered.

A Distcussion on the Size Deviation Test of Raw Silk (生絲纖度檢査規定에 關한 考察)

  • The study was carried out to suggest on opinion of the standardization of size deviation in the existing raw silk testing method. 1. The present grade A of size deviation stipulates 4.61 to 5.80 of standard deviation for 50 to 69 denier of mean value, however, the 5.80 standard deviation with the mean values of 50 and 69 denier belong to different distribution. 2. It is reasonable that the variation coefficients of grade 2A should be lower than that of grade A. However, the present testing method shows larger variation in grade 2A than in grade A. This is illustrated 9.00 for 69 denier in grade 2A and 8.41 for 70 denier in grade A. 3. The size deviation value compares the quality of raw silk with different mean value. Therefore, the standard deviation is recommended to be replaced by the C.V. value in determining the grade of silk. 4. The C.V. have a tendency to increase with lower grades below 6A for the size deviation below 33 denier with some inconsistencies. The figures should be adjusted so that the C.V. inconsistencies size deviation below 33 denier will be corrected. 5. The standard deviation increases with size under the same grade for the size deviations above 33 denier, however, the C.V. does not vary greatly with size deviation. 6. To rectify the above-mentioned inconsistencies the C.V. conversion and curvilinear regresion correction is recommended to improve the present silk testing method 7. A Study on the Classification of an Bodice Size of Rent Wedding Dress (대여 웨딩드레스의 상반신 사이즈 분류에 관한 연구)

  • The object of this study lies on classifying the size, which is mostly favored in Korea where the wedding dress is usually regarded as an article for rent, and on suggesting the range of sleeve design and that of neck line of bodice. For that, I extracted the average size by analyzing and researching the standard size of actual bodice from real wedding dress manufacturing company. According to the result of the research I named the standard size of Korean wedding dress for rent as 'WM' which has the girth of 88cm and the waist measure of 69cm. Based on the size 'WM', I also named the size 'WS' which has the girth of 82cm with extra length of 6cm up and down and the waist measure of 64cm with extra length of 5cm, and the size 'WL' which has the girth of 94cm and the waist measure of 74cm with same extra length as the size 'WS'. The extra space for the inseam of the back is 3 inches for left and right for all sizes and the mark of body size is standardized as 'girth-waist measure'. After that, I suggested the design types of sleeves and neck line of bodice which defined as its size by classifying the bodice of wedding dress based on its size. Generally the neck line of the tank top style has the widest range of wearable size, and the high neck line and bateau neck line types have the narrowest range. And the sleeveless type has the widest range of wearable size while the raglan type has the narrowest one.

A Study on Size Standardization of Saengbwal Hanbok (생활 한복의 치수규격 표준화에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the standard size system of Saenghwal Hanbok for design development and popularization. As a sample, 20's and 40's female data among the 1997's National Somatometry Survey data were used because two groups have different somatic characteristics and design tastes with each other. The results are as follows; From t-test of 35 somatometric items in 20's and 40's female data, we knew that the differentiated size system proper to each age is needed. We also knew that the 38 Saenghwal Hanbok brands don't have consistent size system from investigation of size list and size application. From consideration on the number of size for production and coverage rate, we suggested regression formula by bust circumference and stature, and suggested advanced standard size system which are proper to each 20' and 40' female group.

An Analysis of Korean Anthropometric Measurements for the Development of a Disposable Protective Coveralls Sizing System (일회용 전신 보호복 치수 설계를 위한 한국인 인체 치수 분석)

  • The sizing system for Korean Standard of Disposable Protective Coveralls (DPC) uses the ISO sizing system without modification even though the user suitability for Koreans is unverified. This study provides useful information to improve the size standard of Korean DPC by analyzing measurement DPC data from Korean men and women. The distribution of Korean measurements shows that the size sections were unsuitable for Korean men and women for a protective clothing size standard. Body types were categorized into five types based on a cluster analysis of representative men's and women's measurement factors. Two clusters mostly consisted of men, two other clusters mostly consisted of women, and the other cluster relatively evenly consisted of men and women. Therefore, characteristic body measurements and measurement distribution differences were identifiable for men and women. In conclusion, an unmodified ISO protective clothing size standard is unsuitable for Korean men and women and may cause fit problems. This study shows that a Korean Standard of protective clothing is beneficial for protective clothing manufacturers and wearers if smaller size intervals are added for women and the difference in the distribution of men and women is reflected in the current sizing system. ISO is appropriate to use a Korean Standard in this global era, however, it should be reviewed to provide improved Korean data.

The Study on Standard Bodytype for Korean Women between the ages of 18 and 24 years old(Part II) -Standard proportion and Standard bodytype- (18~24세 한국인 여성의 표준체형에 관한 연구(제2보) -표준프로포션과 표준체형에 대하여-)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest standard bodytype which offers criterion for the sizes and shapes to interpret various bodytypes, to estimate fitting, and to construct ready-made clothing. There were two ways of analyzing bodytypes of subjects from the viewpoint of statistic and beauty. We had carried on the analysis from the viewpoint of statistic in the Part(1) and we carried on the analysis from the viewpoint of beauty in this Part(2). Taken as a sample, the subjects were ninety-seven females who were between the aloes of 18 and 24 rears o1d. They were measured on November 1999. The data of seven hundred and four females,18∼24 year-old, from the National Somatometry Survey of 1997 were used for analysis, too. The first analysis from the viewpoint of beauty was executed to the front and side photographs of the subjects to analyze the general traits of the beautiful bodytype. The second analysis from the viewpoint of beauty was executed to subjects who were in both High-frequency proportion range and Beautiful bodytype group. As the result, four groups in Beautiful and High-frequency proportion range were selected. The standard proportion was analyzed with the size and shape of four groups. Based on the standard proportion, the size, shape and silhouette of the standard bodytype were analyzed. To verify the size, shape and silhouette of the standard bodytype, the location of the standard bodytype in the 1997 National Somatometry Survey group was analyzed. As the result, the standard bodytype was verified as proper criterion to interpret various bodytypes, to estimate fitting, and to construct ready-made clothing.

Analysis of the Branded Unisex Sweatshirt Sizing System (브랜드 남녀 공용 스웨트셔츠 치수체계 분석)

  • In this study, the sizing systems of 40 unisex sweatshirt brands were analyzed to collect the size information needed to produce unisex clothing. Each size specification was compared with the body size distribution and percentiles of men and women aged 18 to 29. Depending on the brand, unisex sweatshirt sizes ranged from 1 to 8. Despite being unisex apparel, three brands offered only one or two sizes. Out of the brands surveyed, 50% were found to offer four or five sizes. Out of the 40 brands, 25 used letters such as "S," "M," and "L" to indicate the size designation. More than 92.5% of the brands included M and L, and the sizing system tended to focus on larger sizes such as XL and 2XL rather than smaller sizes such as XS and S. The size specifications of shoulder width, chest circumference, sleeve length, and total length were compared with the body size distribution and percentiles of men and women aged 18 to 29. The distribution of each size specification mostly appeared in a section larger than the men's body size. The size specifications of unisex sweatshirts were set close to or larger than men's sizes and hardly represented women's sizes. To increase consumer satisfaction with unisex clothing, establishing a size standard that could accurately reflect the body size distribution of men and women was found to be imperative. Such a size standard could also help each brand specify or diversify its target and differentiate itself with other brands.
