Fashion industry has tried to adopt the virtual garment technology to reduce the time and effort spent on sample creation. For garment manufacturers to adopt the virtual garment technology as an alternative to sample creation, 3D avatars that meet the needs of each brand should be developed. Virtual garment softwares that are available in the market provide avatars with standardized body models and allow to modify the size by manually entering size specifications. This study proposed a methodology to develop size specifications for 3D avatars as well as brand-customized production sizes. For this, a man's fashion brand which is using virtual garment technology is selected. And the Size Korea database is used to develop size specification based on the customers' body shape. This study developed regression equations on body size specifications, which in turn proposed a regression model to proportionately change size specifications of 3D fitting-models. Based on the each body size calculated by the regression model, a standard model is created, and the skeleton-skin algorithm is applied to the regression model to obtain the results of size changes. Then, the 3D model sizes are tested for size changes as well as measured, which verifies that the regression model reflects body size changes.

This study was carried out to investigate the clinical characteristics of 78 diabetics by body fat distribution pattern. It was based on the survey of nutritional status, anthropometric measurements and serum components of the patients. The results were as follows: the average ages of male and female subjects were 57.1, and that of female subjects was 58.9, respectively. The average diabetic durations of male and female subjects were 4.8 and 5.9 years, respectively. In male, the ratio of upper body obese subject was 62.5% and the lower body obese subjects was 37.5%, while those of female were 69.4% and 30.6%, respectively. In nutrient intake state, there was no significant difference between male and female subjects, but calory intake of upper body obese subjects was difference between male and female subjects, but calory intake of upper body obese subjects was tend to be higher in both male and female subjects. among the three major nutrients/calory ratio, protein/calory ratio was significantly lower in the male upper body obese subjects than in the male lower body obese subjects. Since weight, circumference of arm and waist, waist hip ratio(WHR) of both male and female subjects, body muscle mass(BMM) of male subjects and body mass index (BMI) of female subjects were significantly higher in upper body obese group, upper body obese subjects represented ore fat than lower body obese subjects. In male subjects, hemoglobin(Hb), A/G of upper body obese subjects were lower than the standard value, but there was no significant difference in the serum components between two subjects. In female subjects, Hb and A/G of lower body obese subjects were lower than those of the normal subjects, but Hb and Ht of upper body obese subjects were significantly higher than those of the lower body obese subjects.
This study intended to suggest criteria for selection of subjects by lower body shape types necessary for evaluating slacks. For this, the characteristics were examined by lower body parts which would influence the fit of slacks on 3D human body shape data of the front and sides of the lower body for lower body shaping. The frequency of subjects by lower body shape types and the boundary points for discrimination of each type were suggested so that they could be available in selecting subjects. Using the data from Size Korea(2004), indirect measurement values measured on the front and sides of the lower body among 3D human body shape data of 175 subjects were analyzed. Their height, waist, and hip circumference fell under the range of standard deviation based on the mean of women aged 18~24 years, and then lower body shaping was conducted by combining the front and side shapes of the lower body. The front of the lower body was classified into four sections: average waist/average hip type(F1), average waist/narrow hip tyle(F2), narrow waist/narrow hip type(F3) and narrow waist/wide hip type(F4) and the sides of the lower body were divided into four sections: average abdomen/average hip type(S1), flat abdomen/average hip type(S2), average abdomen/protrude hip type(S3)and round abdomen/flat hip type(S4), and thus total 16 lower body types were created by cross analysis. Besides, discriminant analysis suggested the boundary points for each shape type of the front and sides of the lower body as a criterion for deciding lower body shape type of each subject
Purpose: We had executed the 3 3 5 5 walking club program for 12 weeks for one hour three times per week to evaluate the effect of the program on health of the elderly. Methods: A pre and post measurement tool of the program was applied to measure obesity, rate of body fat, blood pressure, vital capacity, standard vital capacity, intake capacity of maximum oxygen, grasping power, reaction of whole body, pulse, body mass index (BMI), total bodily score, age of bodily strength, age of health. Data collected from this tool was analyzed by SPSS in paired t-test. Results: The 3 3 5 5 walking club program has affected the weight control of the participants. The participants of 3 3 5 5 walking club program reduced their weight from 61.7 kg to 61.25 kg, rate of body fat from 21.89 kg to 21.22 kg, standard vital capacity from 2,393.56 ml to 2,380.44 ml, reaction of whole body from 475.38 msec to 439.33 msec, and increased grasping power from 22.06 to 23.16 ml (p<.05), total bodily score 68.91 points to 71.38 points significantly (p<.05). Conclusion: The result indicated that the 3.3.5.5 Walking club program has an positive effect on improving health care of the elderly without special exercise tools.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a 12 week walking program on the risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome in older people in rural areas. Method: A total of 31 people among the people who live within the area served by E County Community Health Practice were observed from December 5, 2006 to February 23, 2007. This group included 18 people who were identified as having metabolic syndrome on the basis of the Asia-Pacific fatness basic standard (the experimental group) and a control group of 13 people who did not have metabolic syndrome. Results: The results of the study are as follows: In the experimental group, there was no significant difference in body composition between pre and post measurement. The small change in values that were observed in the experimental group did not reach statistical significance. However, body composition values in the control group increased. In the experimental group, there were significant differences in waist circumference, blood pressure, HDL-C, and fasting blood sugar between pre and post measurement. But there were no changes in the control group. There was no difference in TG in either group. As to changes in risk-factors related metabolic syndrome after the 12 week walking program, the number of risk-factors were effectively reduced in the experimental group, but not in the control group. Conclusion: According to the present study, a 12 week walking program led to significant improvement in body weight, BMI as the factors composing the body and in waist circumference, HDL-C, blood pressure, and fasting blood sugar as risk-factors related to metabolic syndrome in older people in rural areas.
This study aims to classify lower trunk body types of Chinese men in their middle age (30s and 40s) and suggest the standard for them to design slacks pattern. Mollison's relation deviations were used to analyze the direct measurement items in this research compared to those of Size Korea 2004. Though Korean middle-aged men were higher in most items than Chinese counterparts, all items except mid-thigh circumference and side hip length were merely within the range of ${\pm}1\sigma$. According to the results of size classification by absolute values, factor analysis extracted to 2 factors(horizontal size of lower body and vertical size of lower body), and cluster analysis brought about 3 types(type1: tall and thin trunk (36.9%), type 2 : normal height and thick trunk(45.5%), and type 3 : short and normal trunk(17.6%) with some significant differences among them. Also, the results of shape classification by index values, they were extracted 4 factors (waist-hip flatness, waist-hip cross section, vertical waist-groin and hip-surface length) by factor analysis and revealed 3 types(type 1: different waist-hip width, thick, long waist, long upper hip, and short hip-surface length(27.8%), type 2 : different waist-hip width, flat, short upper hip, high hip and groin, and average hip-surface length(29.4%), and type 3: small waist-hip width, thick, average upper hip, and short hip-surface length (42.8%)) with significant differences among them by cluster analysis. The results of standard body types by shape-size combination, 19subjects(10.16%) under these values are regarded as standard body types. Significance was not seen in all items in the t-test results between the total group and the standard group. The latter had lower variation coefficients and smaller individual differences than the former. However, in-depth research is required for generalization since this research is limited to a small number of subjects in Ningbo of Zhejiang.
This study focused on the body composition of Korean Basketball Players in Dual X -ray Absorptiometry. The principal subjects of this study were 10 Basketball Players who participated in the process of Dual Energy X -ray Absorptiometry at K.H. University Hospital for 8 months from Sept. 1. 1996 to April, 30. 1997. On the basis of the these measurements, the authors calculated physical indices and total fat percent. On the results of bone densitometry, the author analyzed body fat weight, body composition according to body position, bone mineral density and discerned the difference between the fatness which was calculated indirectly and which gained from the bone densitometry. 1. General Characteristics The mean age of the subjects was 20.4$\times$1.35 year. 2. Physical. Measurement The mean physical growth and development of the subjects were superior to standard value of the average Koreans 3. Body Fat by Physical Measurement Body surface area was 2.019$\times$0.111$m^2$, body volume was 74.4$\times$7.2$\ell$, body density was 1.041$\times$0.007$\ell$/kg, and body fat percent was 24.9$\times$2.9%. 4. Body Fat by Bone Densitometry Total body fat percent was 15.17$\times$2.19% and according to body position that of upper limb was 1.62%, that of lower limb was 5.55%, that of trunk was 7.06% and that of head was 1.05%. There was significant difference between the amounts of body fat from the methods used in this study; that from physical measurements and from bone densitometry method could be said most desirable. 5. Body composition According to Body Position Trunk was highest at 46.7%, lower limb was 36.0%, upper limb was 10.6%, and head was 6.7% in order. 6. Bone Mineral Content and Bone Density In bone mineral amount by body position, that of upper limb was 466.9$\times$46.4g, that of lower limb was 1,424.1$\times$154.0g, that of trunk was 1,343.0$\times$150.3g, and total bone mineral content was 3,786.8$\times$348.4g(4.78$\times$0.13%). Bone mineral density by body position, that of upper limb was 0.758$\times$0.072g/$\textrm{cm}^2$, that of lower limb was 1,342$\times$0.095g/$\textrm{cm}^2$, that of trunk was 1,169$\textrm{cm}^2$0.082g/$\textrm{cm}^2$, that of head was 1,742$\times$0.154g/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and total bone mineral density was 1,204$\times$0.077g/$\textrm{cm}^2$.
This study was to provide the fundamental data for the ease necessary to design clothes by investigating the variation of the upper body surface with the method of surgical tape. The subject were 8 young women in the standard somatotype. In the form of body surface according to arm movements, the shape of armscye circumference became gentle from the sunken form for the standing posture; scye depth became lower; lateral shoulder moved and rose toward the front center as the angle of arm movement became larger; scye depth is greatest in the standing. The items of horizontal ware largest in the standing posture except for front neck base circumference and front interscye breadth for side $90^{\circ}$ movement. In the items of vertical, while most of the front items increased but back ones generally decreased for all movement compared to the standing. After comparing differences in actual values between the form of body surface in the standing posture and the direct measurement, the following ease were suggested considering minimum measures to accommodate daily movements. Although, the bicycles are designed and manufactured in a variety of ways by numerous companies, customer has a difficulty in gaining information of bicycle which suits them. Accordingly most of buyers purchase bicycle considering body size. Employing the method is one of the ways to decide bike size on the ground of standard body measurement. However, the method above to purchase bicycle is not appropriate for customer considering his/her body. The research mainly aims to design bicycle which allows buyer to adjust optimal design system by himself/herself considering his/her body size. In addition, a device employing fuzzy controller implemented bicycle run test. Using on the result, the research explored an optimal bicycle system which makes a decision whether a bicycle fits body of customer.

Body fit should be the first point considered for satisfying the functionality of clothes and thus it is the most essential condition. Based on previous research, this article studied the basic slacks pattern with a high body fit using body measurement of adolescent boys. The purpose of this study is to propose basic data for the production of slacks. Research was performed on the physical measurements of adolescent boys from 13-18 years old obtained from the '6th Korean National Physical Standard Reports' by SIZEKOREA. First, six types of experimental slacks basic patterns were produced applying the average body sizes of adolescent boys. Second, a single slacks basic pattern was selected, which received the best response based on appearance from the clothing evaluators. Then, the slacks basic pattern for adolescent boys was finalized by modifying and amending the selected pattern with two more clothing experiments. The data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and t-test using the SPSS program. The results of this study have been obtained as follows. The modifications and adjustments were done based on Crotch, Thigh Circumference, waist circumference, and hip circumference.
