A Simple Surgical Guide for Horizontal Bone Graft: A Technical Note

  • Horizontal bone defect in the anterior maxilla makes it difficult to place dental implant. The golden standard for bone augmentation is autogenous block bone graft. Tight contact with recipient site and rigid fixation are two key factors for successful block bone graft. Ramal bone graft has been the most reliable methods for dental implant field. However, the curvature of the alveolar ridge is different from ramal bone shape. Intraoperative trimming of ramal bone is cumbersome for surgeon. In this technical note, a simple way to design the ramal bone harvest using bone wax stent is reviewed.

  • Early nutritional support for preterm infants is critical because such support influences long-term outcome. Minimal enteral feeding should be initiated as soon as possible if an infant is stable and if feeding advancement is recommended as relevant to the clinical course. Maternal milk is the gold standard for enteral feeding, but fortification may be needed to achieve optimal growth in a rapidly growing premature infant. Erythromycin may aid in promoting gastrointestinal motility in cases that exhibit feeding intolerance. Selected preterm infants need vitamins, mineral supplements, and calorie enhancers to meet their nutritional needs. Despite all that is known about this topic, additional research is needed to guide postdischarge nutrition of preterm infants in order to maintain optimal growth and neurodevelopment.

  • All measurements are subject to uncertainty and a measurement result is complete only when it is accompanied by a statement of the associated uncertainty. By international agreement, this uncertainty has a probabilistic basis and reflects incomplete knowledge of the quantity value. The "Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement", commonly known as the GUM, is the definitive document on this subject. The requirements for estimation of measurement uncertainty apply to all results provided by calibration laboratories and results produced by testing laboratories under the optional circumstances. In this paper, a procedure for estimation of measurement uncertainty from vibration testing is proposed on KS F 2868:2003 as an example. Both Type A and Type B evaluation of uncertainty are considered to calculate the combined standard uncertainty and expanded uncertainty.

  • As the structure of a mobile phone becomes thin to catch up with a slim product trend, the reliability of a LCD module is on the rise as a big issue for a product design. A drop test is the most basic and important verification method for a mechanical quality control but it requires much time and cost during a product development process. Thus many manufacturers have considered design guide lines using CAE and simulation for more effective usage of limited resources on the market. In this paper, the Maximum Principle Stress of a LCD glass panel is calculated on the basis of explicit FE Analyses method and input conditions are determined according to the general test standard. The design guideline for reliability improvements are suggested on the basis of the results of FE Analysis.

고무차륜 경량전철의 충돌안전도 연구 (A Study on Crashworthiness of Rubber Tired AGT)

  • In the standard specifications for the urban EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) train, there are several items to ensure safety against accidents. The 21st to the 23rd items have much to do with the crashworthiness of the urban EMU train. In this study, a rubber-tired Automated Guide-way Transit (AGT) System under development by KRRI is numerically evaluated from the point of view of crashworthiness by applying the above crashworthiness items. The numerical results show that the design of the AGT satisfies the 22nd and 23rd items. But a design modification to adopt mechanical fuses is recommended to reduce impact accelerations with respect to the 21st item.

  • The subject of this paper is to perform the basic research to make design guide as finding out the structural characteristics of polypropylene Ankle Foot Orthosis(AFO) for hemiplegics. Target shape of AFO is a solid standard type. In this study we measure ridity as dorsiflexion and thicknesses of AFO with three types of ankle widths and analyze correlation between rigidity and ankle widths, thicknesses. As a result, the rigidity characteristic is specified complex effect of ankle widths and thicknesses.

  • It is recommended that the villagers should organize their own council based on the resources which the village owns to manage the experience programs in the experience village, but it is criticized that there is no consideration about inhabitants abilities when the project is about to be constructed and the programs is developed. This research is purposed to develop the manual which is depending on urban-rural correlative experience programs conduct that is developed by the test to increase inhabitants abilities effectively. Therefore, the manual of the programs should be utilized as a early guide to help the village jump up to the standard level of program procedure, and the inhabitants should create ideas continually to develop better programs on the basis of the manual rather depending on the manual. And for another, the manual should often be upgraded to understand the process of historical changes of the village.

  • 산업체가 요구하는 능력 중심의 현장 인력을 양성하기 위하여 산업인력공단에서는 국가직업능력표준을 개발하였고 국가직업능력표준에 의거하여 제시된 과정과 교재개발 방안에 따라 프로젝트 기반의 기계설계교육용 훈련 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램을 몇 개 대학에서 적용하면서, 그 유용성을 학생들이 과정 중 수행한 프로젝트보고서로서 제시하였다.

  • IPTV는 2008년 처음 서비스가 시작된 이후 IPTV 콘텐츠 호환성 확보와 단말 이동성 확보를 통한 IPTV 서비스 활성화 및 전체적인 비용 절감을 위해 많은 표준화 이슈들이 있었고 짧은 시간동안 많은 부분 표준화가 완료 되었다. 그러나 기존의 XML 기반의 서비스 정보를 송출하고 수신하는 제품이 없고 표준 검증을 위한 기준 단말 및 서버가 개발자에게 제공되지 않아 표준의 빠른 상용화 개발에 어려움이 있다. 이에 본 논문은 방통융합 기반기술 테스트 환경 구축 과제를 통해 IPTV 서비스 탐색과 콘텐츠 가이드 표준 참조구현 소스를 오픈소스 방식으로 무료 배포하기 위하여, IPTV 서비스 환경에 적합한 XML 기반의 서비스 정보와 콘텐츠 가이드 정보를 H/E단(서버)에서 송출하고 단말을 통해 이들 정보를 확인하는 기술 표준인 "IPTV 서비스 탐색 및 전송방식"과 "IPTV 콘텐츠 가이드 정보 및 전송방식" 표준을 적용한 서버와 단말 기능을 개발하였다.

Development of a Chloroform Reference Material for the Proficiency Testing of Hazardous Compounds in Commercial Consumer Chemical Products Under the Consumer Chemical Products and Biocide Safety Management Act (K-BPR)

  • In this study, a chloroform consumer chemical product (CCP) reference material (RM) is successfully developed, with potential to be used in the proficiency testing of hazardous compounds in CCPs for analysis and testing agencies. Validation experiments are rigorously conducted to evaluate whether the RM meets the requirements set by the ISO 13528 and ISO Guide 35, using a reliable GC/MS method for the analysis of chloroform. The obtained calibration plot linearity, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantitation (LOQ) are excellent. The developed RM meets the homogeneity and stability requirements; the between-unit (sbb) and within-unit (swb) standard deviations are less than 2.5%, and the stability is found to be guaranteed for 50 days.
