비냉각형 선농축 방식에 의한 대기 중 휘발성 황화합물의 분석방법 개발 (Development of an Analytical Approach to Measure Volatile Sulfur Compounds Using a Non-Cryogenic Preconcentration Method)

  • The atmospheric concentration of dimethylsulfide (DMS), known as the predominant volatile organic. sulfur compound, is determined at subnanogram level by a combined application of non-cryogenic preconcentration method and gas chromatography with flame photometric detection (GC/FPD). The volatile DMS in air is preconcentrated using a trapping tube containing adsorbent like Molecular Sieve 5A (or gold-coated sands). The tube is then connected to the GC/FPD system via a six-way rotary valve, thermally desorbed at 40$0^{\circ}C$, separated on OV101 column, and detected by a flame photometric detector. The DMS peak elutes at about 2.5 mins and is integrated electronically. The analytical precision, if expressed in terms of relative standard error, is around 5%. The detection limit of our GC/FPD system is ca 1 ng of DMS. Details of our analytical system are presented.

Numerical Comparisons for the Null Distribution of the Bagai Statistic

  • Bagai et al. (1989) proposed a distribution-free test for stochastic ordering in the competing risk model, and recently Murakami (2009) utilized a standard saddlepoint approximation to provide tail probabilities for the Bagai statistic under finite sample sizes. In the present paper, we consider the Gaussian-polynomial approximation proposed in Ha and Provost (2007) and compare it to the saddlepoint approximation in terms of approximating the percentiles of the Bagai statistic. We make numerical comparisons of these approximations for moderate sample sizes as was done in Murakami (2009). From the numerical results, it was observed that the Gaussianpolynomial approximation provides comparable or greater accuracy in the tail probabilities than the saddlepoint approximation. Unlike saddlepoint approximation, the Gaussian-polynomial approximation provides a simple explicit representation of the approximated density function. We also discuss the details of computations.

A Tone Mapping Algorithm Based on Multi-scale Decomposition

  • High dynamic range (HDR) images can present the perfect real scene and rich color information. A commonly encountered problem in practical applications is how to well visualize HDR images on standard display devices. In this paper, we propose a multi-scale decomposition method using guided filtering for HDR image tone mapping. In our algorithm, HDR images are directly decomposed into three layers:base layer, coarse scale detail layer and fine detail layer. We propose an effective function to compress the base layer and the coarse scale detail layer. An adaptive function is also proposed for detail adjustment. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm effectively accomplishes dynamic range compression and maintains good global contrast as well as local contrast. It also presents more image details and keeps high color saturation.

흰쥐 간 Microsome 효소에 의한 Tranylcypromine으로부터 Cinnamaldehyde의 생성 (Formation of Cinnamaldehyde from Tranylcypromine by Rat Liver Microsomes)

  • In order to clarify mechanism of the formation of cinnamaldehyde (CNA) in incubation mixtures of tranylcypromine (TCP) with rat liver microsomes, the CNA formed under various incubation conditions were analyzed. For the purpose, HPLC method of the analysis of CNA was developed. The formation of CNA was found to be dependent on the incubation time and the amounts of microsomes added. In addition, exclusion of NADPH or NADP of NADPH-generating system in incubation mixtures resulted in the formation of markedly decreased amounts of CNA to 8.5 and 2.4%, respectively, relative to the amounts formed each in a standard system. The small amounts measured were comparable to those formed by incubation without microsomes or with boiled microsomes. The results clearly suggested that CNA is a metabolic product of TCP by rat liver microsomes though further studies are needed to suggest details of the steps to the formation of CNA from TCP and of the enzymatic entities involved in the formation of CNA.

Cyclic Load Testing of Concrete Expansion Anchors

  • In order to ensure a concrete expansion anchor is suitable for a given application, the load resistance behavior of the anchor must be known. ASTM E488 provides a standard method of testing expansion anchors for static and dynamic loads. Due to the many types of anchors available commercially and the large variability of applications, the ASTM does not delineate all details or requirements necessary to comprehensively determine the dynamic load behavior of concrete expansion anchors. A test program is presented in this paper which was developed and implemented to determine the cyclic load behavior of wedge-type concrete expansion anchors. Test results are also presented along with a discussion of the behavior of anchors, and their suitability for use.

  • Leakage problems in underground spaces of domestic apartments is becoming more serious and legal disputes related to leakage problem have become more commonplace. In this regard, leakage problem is not only a problem in construction, but is also a concern from a societal aspect. In this paper, we propose the details of a below-grade waterproofing design and specification standards of specific areas and sections of residential apartment buildings, and propose that a detailed examination of positive-side waterproofing methods is required.

전자상거래 신뢰서비스를 활성화시키기 위한 선진국들의 정책에 관한 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Policies Related To Trust Services in e-Business)

  • "Trust" becomes a focal issue in e-business. Unlike traditional business environment, virtual situation requires new trust-ensuring mechanism other than face-to-face meetings and other related means of confirmation. Many countries are trying to foster trust services industry in order to increase e-business transactions and activities. This paper compares and contrasts these countries' policies on trust services. Conclusions of this comparative research includes: (1) trust services industry will be tightly integrated horizontally and increase their scope vertically towards trust in business sense over and beyond the mere technical level trust, (2) necessity of reciprocal trust authentication exchange is calling for an international standard in a near future, and (3) two different types of policies are under development: government-led and industry-led. Advantages and disadvantages of different approaches are presented with details of legal implications and structures of operations.

전향 원심 송풍기의 3차원 유동에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Three-Dimensional Flow in a Forward Curved Centrifugal Fan)

  • Numerical study of three-dimensional turbulent flow in a forward curved centrifugal fan is presented. Standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model and non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinates arc used to consider the turbulent flow field and complex geometry. Finite Volume approach is adopted for discretization scheme and structured grid system is used to help convergence. Multiblock grid system is used for flow field and divided into five domains that are inlet, outlet, impeller, tip clearance and scroll. It is assumed that the flow field is steady and incompressible. These numerical results are compared with the experimental data inside a rotor and at the fan outlet. Most important flow features are captured through this numerical approach. Finally details of flow field inside a fan are described and analyzed.

Performance Analysis of Web Service Architecture for Inter-AS DiffServ-over-MPLS Traffic Engineering

  • In this paper, the performance of the WebService architecture for QoS guaranteed connection provisioning in inter-AS domain networks has been measured and analyzed for service publish/inquiry, collection of NMSs ASBR details, source routing by ingress NMS in constraint based routing and connection establishment. From the analysis, it has been found that, the connection between inter-AS domain networks can be established within the usual time limits of 3 seconds by the Web Service architecture. Since no standard solutions have been implemented in Interdomain QoS provisioning, this performance analysis assures Web Service architecture as a promising solution and can be easily implemented in the early stages of MPLS network employment.

Vulnerability of roofing components to wind loads

  • The vulnerability of roofing components of contemporary houses built in cyclonic regions of Australia is assessed for increasing wind speeds. The wind loads and the component strengths are treated as random variables with their probability distributions derived from available data, testing, structural analysis and experience. Design details including types of structural components of houses are obtained from surveying houses and analyzing engineering drawings. Wind load statistics on different areas of the roof are obtained by wind tunnel model studies and compared with Australian/New Zealand Standard, AS/NZS 1170.2. Reliability methods are used for calculating the vulnerability of roofing components independently over the roof. Cladding and batten fixings near the windward gable edge are found to experience larger negative pressures than prescribed in AS/NZS 1170.2, and are most vulnerable to failure.
