  • In this paper, the Stand-alone underground water pumping system was developed that is consist of Submersible Pump (AC type), Photovoltaic Array and Power converter by the application of solar energy. And also wish to introduce system that is possible to supply of drinking water or water for agriculture using solar energy at desertification area or a Off-grid area, interior etc. and operation test results. This system can use in deep tube well of 200m range with common Submersible Pump and maximized to the quantity of pumping through M.P.P.T control. Also system availability raised through apply various driving mode.

  • Strip off-center is one of the major problems in hot strip mill line. The key to good centering is having good equipment, modern control systems, excellent maintenance and an understanding of milling process. Therefore, this study aims to develop a system that is useful for quantitative analysis of strip off-center. In this study, the measuring method of strip off-center was thoroughly studied and the exclusive control board to line scan camera were designed. Also, the manipulated type housing for line scan camera was developed to adjust initial parameters for strip width and center line. In order to check the accuracy and usefulness of the developed system, FM stand in $\#2$ Hot Strip Factory in Pohang Steel Works was targeted.

  • In order to reduce the length of off-gauge at FGC(Flying gauge change) point, We adopted dynamic set up in No. 4 cold rolling mill. The conventional set-up of FGC(Flying gauge change) was calculated on the basis of preset values in the process control computer, so the difference between actual strip thickness and preset thickness cause long off-gauge. The dynamic SET-UP control was calculated on the basis of actual strip thickness of FGC(Flying gauge change) point from X-ray gauge of mill entry and No.i stand. We applied dynamic SET-UP control in September last year. Compare to the previous result, the length of off-gauge is reduced by about 36%.

Population persistence of the perennial kelp Eisenia arborea varies across local spatial scales

  • Perennial stipitate kelps are globally distributed and individual species can inhabit broad latitudinal ranges, expressing notably longevous persistence. Despite the foundational role kelps provide to their communities, little is known about the variability in persistence of the stipitate kelps at local spatial scales. We studied the population persistence of Eisenia arborea, a heat- and wave force-tolerant perennial stipitate kelp with a distributional range extending from British Columbia to south of the range limit of all other northeast Pacific kelps, in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Persistence characteristics for E. arborea among sites were compared and used to test the hypothesis that stand persistence varied at local spatial scales around Isla Natividad, a Pacific island off the Baja California peninsula with documented spatiotemporal environmental heterogeneity. Collected individuals around the island were "aged" using the previously validated age estimation technique of counting annual cortical dark rings. After detecting no significant differences among sites in the covariation between estimated ages for collected individuals and stipe length, we utilized in-situ population-level stipe length measurements to more rapidly predict age structures within six stands around the island. Predicted age structures, and associated stand densities, revealed persistence characteristics and density varied at local scales and a strong positive relationship existed between stand density and stand mean and maximum ages. We speculate that stands responded differently to deterministic influences (e.g., the 2014-2016 marine heatwave and / or competition with Macrocystis) resulting in heterogenous local persistence of this foundation species.

  • These studies were carried out to investigate water yield from small forested watersheds at Choosan Stream-Gauging Stations in Chollanam-do province from May 11, 1991 to December 31, 1992. The purpose of these studies was to obtain useful informations as distribution of precipitation, canopy interception, stemflow, throughfall and run-off from the small forested watersheds. The precipitation at Choosan from May to December, 1991 was 1,306.6mm and at Choosan from January to December, 1992 was 1,143.4mm. The rate of canopy interception in Pinus taeda stand is 24.3% and 27% in Pinus densiflora stand. The run-off rate from the watershed was 48.87% at Bukmoongol small forested watershed and 41.19% at Baramgol small forested watershed.

Effect of Sagittal Pelvic Tilt on Kinematic Changes of Hip and Knee Joint During Sit-to-Stand (일어서기 동작 시 시상면 골반 기울임이 엉덩관절과 무릎관절의 운동형상학에 미치는 영향)

  • Although there have been various studies related to the body's movement from a sitting to a standing position (sit-to-stand task), there is limited information on the kinematic changes on the frontal and transverse planes. The purpose of this study was to ascertain how pelvic tilt affects kinematic changes in the frontal and transverse planes in the hip and knee joints during a sit-to-stand task. For this study, 33 healthy participants (13 female) were recruited. Each participant rose from a sitting to a standing posture at his or her preferred speed for each of three different pelvic tilt trials (anterior, posterior, and neutral), and the measured angles were analyzed using a 3-D motion analysis system. A one-way repeated measure analysis of variance was performed with Bonferroni's post hoc test. In addition, an independent t-test was carried out to determine the sex differences in hip and knee joint kinematic changes during the sit-to-stand tasks. The results were as follows: 1) The hip and knee joint angle in the frontal and transverse planes showed a significant difference between the different pelvic tilt postures during sitting in the pre-buttock lift-off phase (pre-LO) (p<.05). Compared to the posterior pelvic tilt posture, the anterior pelvic tilt posture involved significantly greater hip joint adduction and internal rotation, knee joint adduction, and reduced internal rotation of the knee joint. 2) Sex differences were found with significant differences for males in the initial and maximal angles in the frontal plane of the hip and knee joint (p<.05). Females had a significantly smaller initial abduction angle of the hip joint and a significantly greater maximal angle of the hip adduction joint. These results suggest that selecting a sit-to-stand exercise for pelvic tilt posture should be considered to control abnormal movement in the lower extremities.

UTS Designs and Experiments according to a Stand-off Technique using the Magnetostrictive Ultrasonic (자왜 초음파를 이용한 Stand-off 기술에 따른 UTS 설계 및 실험)

  • 본 논문에서는 초음파 웨이브렛 지연시간을 이용한 초고온 온도 측정법을 기초로 하여, 이 기술을 바탕으로 두 번째 단계인 용융물 온도에서 내구성을 갖는 초음파 센서(UTS : Ultrasonic Temperature Sense)를 설계하여 약 $2300^{\circ}C$까지 실험로 내부의 온도를 측정하고자 한다. 이때 UTS 설계의 중요 인수는 센서 봉 외부 표면과 시스(sheath) 내부 표면의 두 텅스텐 재료가 비접촉 상태로 요구된다. 만약 이들 두 재료가 고온의 상태에서 접촉되면 음향적 분로인 Shunting 현상이 발생한다. 이 현상을 물리적으로 억제하기 위한 센서 설계가 필요하게 되며, 이 센서 설계의 성공 여부의 첫째 요구 조건으로서 센서 내부의 구조적으로 음향 Shunting 현상을 억제하는 기술이 필요로 하게 된다. 이들 센서의 내부 구조에 상호 접촉을 피하기 위해서 작은 공간에 새롭게 구조적 분리가 가능한 텅스텐 재료인 Standoff를 제작하여 설치하였다. 그러나 본 실험에서는 제안된 Standoff적용한 출력 신호의 신호 대 잡음 비는 소량의 개선 가능성을 확인하였으나, 다양한 Standoff의 설계와 제작이 지속적으로 진행되어야 할 것이다.

  • Aerothermodynamic characteristics of re-entry vehicles in hypersonic speed regimes are investigated by applying CFD methods based on the Navier-Stokes-Fourier equations. A special emphasis is placed on the effects of high temperature chemically reacting gases on shock stand-off distance and thermal characteristics of the flowfields. A ten species model is used for describing the kinetic mechanism for high temperature air. In particular, the hypersonic flows around a cylinder are computed with and without chemically reacting effects. It is shown that, when the chemically reacting effects are taken into account, the shock stand-off distance and temperature are significantly reduced.

Experimental Study on the Flyer Velocity in Explosive Welding (폭발용접에서 부재의 충돌속도에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • One of the most important parameters for explosive welding is flyer velocity $V_p$, which principally depends on momentum caused by detonation of explosive. And close dependency with other parameters such as detonation velocity $V_D$, dynamic angle $\beta$, charge ratio R, flyer thickness $t_f$ and stand-off distance d, should be taken accounts for welding design. This paper describes, as a result of experiment, an empirical equation related to relation between $V_p$/$V_D$ and R. The flyer velocity which is estimated by $V_{p}=0.284{\times}R^{0.593}$or $V_{p}=\sqrt[0.2]{2E_G}{\times}R^{0.593}$ can be used in ordinary experiments. And the calculated values of the flyer velocity exhibit better accuracy than those of other investigators.
